yeah I was there yesterday and it was fun u can even see my vid from there of my cousin Erik skiing but he is only 10 so it's nothing spectacular at all but the end is pretty funny when he didn't get enough speed for a jump
oh my friend went hiking up to the top and skiied down lol i h8 that danm 2 person old chairlift they have,, the ski teachers are the best in canada they say and thats true there awesome! :)
@skyblue2567 me and a buddy of mine climbed to to top wit my snowboard and his skis the day after a blizzard last year was sweet no one else was up there so everything was fresh
I agree, ive been riding there since like grade 3, if there was a lift to the peak all those times ive hiked would be spat on, its like a test of manhood lol
DUDE I WAS STANDING RIGHT BESIDE THE GUY WHO FILMED THIS! LMAO CRAZYEST THING EVER! the trees in the bottom right are like 20 feet tall, just taken OUT! XD
people should make winter jackets like the ones on james bond where when you're in an avalanch you can pull a string thing and it fills up with air in a big bubble hahah then we wouldnt exactly have to worry about these now would we??
What an incredible spectacle! I ski here every year and never get bored the the rush flying down these runs. Jasper is a stunningly gorgeous and unbelievably fun place to visit, a very special place, indeed!
It's shame that they no longer have the high traverse open at Marmot. There was some really great skiing to be had down that bowl, and because of the Eagle East chair, they don't have that traverse open anymore :( But I understand, that area is really exposed to slides (that video shows it, and I've some some big ones up there) and it's probably easier/safer for the staff to just not maintain that traverse anymore .. Even still, it's a shame. Some of those lines were amazing after a nice dump.
With the Eagle East chair Marmot has lost a lot of fresh powder...at least they've opened Cornice and many of the boarders straight-line it which is a real plus in my view...:). Now if they'd only open Tres Hombres....(highly unlikely). God forbid they ever put a lift up the peak!
yeah I just seen marmot's plans for next year for the big new chair. from base to the top of cariboo. The old triple and yellow chairs will be replaced by one giant high speed quad, longest in Alberta. It's an intersting lift. gonna be some long runs.
Like I say, I do miss the old traverse though. Was a very nice feature up at marmot. Oh well. No plans to run a chair to the top yet,... thank god.
HA lol i live in Grande cache alberta about 2 ours away from this place and i was tehre once and when we hiked up past the knob chair lift they were doing this it was kinda fun but freaky cause they were doing the same thing just it was nov of 06
I know - I am only kidding. I am a ski instructor and have worked 6 seasons in and around Chamonix and see a few much closer to hand than that. I was in StAnton once and there was a big slide that came down into town and came across the main street and covered a filling station over it's roof. Nobody could get in or out of town for 4 days.
This is Ski Patrol footage. They shell the ski hill to trigger controlled slides. The second shell was right on the money, exactly where the maximum snow load on the slope was. Nice shooting...
Cool

there is rucksacks with this kind of ABS.
They are quite efficient, but expensive. And the _quite_ is worrying as well ;)

It would be more exciting for real, trust me. It looks like a wimpy thing on a video, but it would really be freaky.
