SO love the comments - and I agree its the best lounge lizard style. If you want to live this era and hear the sounds head sttraight to Palm Springs CA. stay at one of the number of revived retro hotels such as Del Marco or Desert Hills in Palmy. We love it - going back in Feb from Australia .
@sheatheman I agree with you. Here's the thing:I am 52 years old and a musician.I played drums in rock/metal bands back in the 70's and 80's.That's what we played. But my listening range is far wider than what we played.I love pop, disco, techno from the 80's,and then there is this music.Yeah it used to be called Muzak, but I loved it and still do!Now days it's called easy listening. No matter I have always liked this kind of music along with the kind that has the plucking of the violin in them.
@sheatheman After going to your you tube page,I see you are only 23 years old.So it is quite possible that you have never heard any easy listening music with plucked violins.Plucked violins are when one plays the violin plucking the strings with their fingers instead of using the bow.it is a really cool sound and it was used a lot in 50's and 60's easy listening music.I have noticed in a lot of the videos here posted by Jerry, most of the music is lounge genre different than the other w/plucking
@sheatheman I would if I could, but the thing is,I have never known thenames of songs or the artists that played them.I would just listen to them on the easy listening stations that are on our satellite tv service.I believe on dish right now the easy listening station is called easy instrumentals. For directv not sure. I used to listen to this stuff at night driving home.We used to have a radio station here that played this music but no longer.Wish I could help.Old drive in music had it also.
They should play more of this music in public places/shops, etc. Chill out the stressed silliness/neurosis that is rife in today's existence.
I believe it would work. As long as it's not overdone, would make a nice touch to the day and your journeys. And I'm sure there's a great library of music to choose from. Shops need to use their imagination a bit.
i play this type of music in my store all the time and my customers love it. Some people thing it's corny but most i say it's great! A little amazing instrumental music never hurts!
Funny you mention that! I am abou to go shopping in those vintyage stores for a retro 60's dress hopefully some cool brocade stuff, and lookingto put my hair up in a bouffant 'do for our grand openning on wednesday! (bythe way i sell expensive luggage on a posh strip downtown next to the Rolex and Chanel stores...) LOVETHIS MUSIC!!! Where's my martini!
@bbcisrubbish Yes, except for The David Jacobs Show on radio 2 every Sunday night at 11pm. Give a whirl tonight..you'll be hooked. Superb easy listening until mid-night.
the pic is the 1960s. i loved the era, i was a boy, but still loved it. this music is the kind i like to hear on an airplane flying across the ocean or country. its also good movie background music. what year did this come out.
@peteboy1113 - took me 10 minutes of searching through sites giving the bogus 'reissue' date of 2002. Original release is 1968 according to rhapsody, so I'm adding this to my 1968 playlist.
My channel will give you vintage music for any year on 111 playlists from 1900 to today & all the genres are mixed in, just like radio used to play them before everything had to be 'formatted'.
I offer you 10,000 songs on 514 playlists of up to 4 hours each & a promise to keep adding tunes!
@ivorbigunzz Yes, because like other great but disliked Englishmen, Geoff Boycott and Brian Clough etc, he had little time for idiots and said so... No one beat Great Britain, we ruined ourselves..Guardian readers and other assorted pratts did the trick..
awesome!

People with a disdain for this, calling it MUZAK-- they just don't get it.
If this was still played in elevators, I would probably be found dead of starvation in one with a twisted, frozen smile on my face.

RetroSmooveHouse.
I agree and have thought this for years.
I have asked shop people who chooses what is played, they say "head office send it".
Of course with organisations such as the BBC playing only pop trash the population at large will NEVER hear this good music.
They seem to be interested only in the violent, visious, disturbing noise played everywhere from pubs to, believe me, doctors waiting rooms.
