I don't understand why Goodison had the penalty there ? Slingsby tacked through Goodison's water, Goodison changed course, within his water, and Slingsby hadn't fully completed the tack. Surely, it's down to slingsby to tack outside of Goodison's water ? Windward boat keep clear / tacking boat keep clear (2 rules there that seem to have been missed). Am i Missing something?
@jonathanwdavis Well remember there is no such thing as 'water' in sailing anymore. I think the reason for the penalty was that Slingsby had completed his tack, then Goody luffed him ubove a close hauled course. There is no rule about how close you may tack to someone, as long as they do not have to avoid you.
