Whoever controls this (klamathmedia)hates the truth and that makes it appear the Yurok Tribe hates the truth, as evidenced by the removal of comments expressing the truth. The truth is, worst salmon run in history is upon us and the Tribe is having a commercial fishing season. How does this show the Yurok Tribe cares about the fishery?By catching the only fish to make it back to the river, the fish that could help sustain the fishery will be gone along with any hope of their offspring returning.sad

The truth is that the west coast ocean fishery is closed this year due to record low returns on Sacramento River. Klamath runs are predicted to exceed the number of salmon needed to spawn and secure another generation of fish - due in part to the fact there will be no ocean harvest allowed. That is why the Yurok Tribe can have an in river commercial harvest this year. Note that the Yurok Tribe has self imposed harvest restrictions in many recent years as the Klamath runs have declined.
My mistake-the fishery in Klamath is great! Go ahead and clear cut the river of fish, and look forward to the usual seals on the beach dead from gunshot wounds, too bad no one has found a use for marine mammals.Steelhead too.
Why bother giving the fish a break ever?
Its the Sacramentos problem.
"Even if all ocean sport and commercial fisheries are closed throughout California, salmon returns are not projected to meet the escapement goals required by the PFMC Salmon Fishery Management Plan."

Tribal fishery is not ocean fishery as stated in the PFMC quote above. Its in River.Note also that the Yurok and Hoopa fishery has strict take limits.
The goal shared by the Tribes and fisherman on the Klamath is a restored fishery that provides for sustainable and harvestable populations of salmon. Salmon are for eating and that's why they are important to us.
Besides, the Tribes successfully managed the river that way for about 10,000 years, so we know it can be done!

To the Buffet Family, This issue will not go away. We will continue to come to Omaha each year.We will target your events in the world until these Dams come down. They are killing our communities. We have no where else to go, The Klamath River is our home. These protests will grow, next, we call on our fellew Tribes across the nation to travel to Omaha. We will fill your streets. You will hear our cries our words or songs. You can make this stop, take down the Dams and bring the Salmon home.

I am completely sympathetic (and I mean that in the most respectful way) of this issue and understand the passion behind the issue. I think it's important to understand, however, that my dad has never (as far as I know) imposed his will on a particular company he owns. This is a very important local issue that should be pushed at the local and regional level. I hate to see resources wasted going to Berkshire when they could be used more effectively on a local level.

We understand your dad's management style. The fact that we are in front of him with this issue should let him know that the guys he picked to run Mid American are not getting the job done.
At the end of the day, the people that own the stock own the problem and that's why we came to Omaha and will continue to come to Omaha.
We would very much like to discuss the matter with you to find a better way.

The klamath river people have been working their asses off on a local and regional level for years. Your dad does have a say and he needs to impose his will and help save the river and the people because he can. The people here are crying out for help and I wish that your Dad would listen and educate the companies he owns so they can save lives and the river. you seem very respectful an understanding unlike some poor excuses for human beings that happen to be shareholders. with respect, alissa

I am so proud of you all for all your hard work and effort. you are all my heros. Your voice is being heard and I hope the rich people will listen and help remove the klamath dams. I hope to see a healthy river here someday with no toxic algae and with plenty of fish to feed the people. I know the creator is hearing all of our prayers and desparation. Change is coming. keep up the fight because it is worth it you are all worth it.
How did you even get passes? Stay away next year, this is Omaha... we don't like tacky protesters. We are a peaceful community, we like to keep our way of life quiet. In other words keep your noise pollution away from our city.

lancemolina you are one TACKY ASS person to even let ignorant words like that come from you. The so called noise pollution was stating the facts about our community and the CRISIS happening in our peaceful community because of the Dams that Warren Buffet owns. So if you want it quiet in your community you better keep Warren Buffet out, because until he does the right thing for the klamath river people he will keep hearing from us and so will you.maybe you should take off the blinders, get a clue
