I have no idea how this was a "winner's recital", this performance was of an extremely poor standard...It obviously is not well prepared. There are enough wrong notes to make me stop him if this was a jury performance.
The playing does not convey the character of the piece; the lassan needs to sound as though it is being improvised on the spot while the friska needs to be lively. Whatever happened to the presto from 5:05? He is still playing at the allegretto pace of the friska
@JinTCJL Ok, I left that comment before actually listening to the second half of the piece. Okay, so once he got to the second half of the piece where it gets more animated, that was more disastrous. The beginning was well played, but the second half was too fast in my opinion...which maybe caused all those mistakes he made in the second half...he probably went too fast too soon when he wasn't done mastering it slowly...
It does not sound good to me either.. I don't think they are , I've studied this piece but Cziffra's interpretation , so I don't know it exacally , but just from the sound of it , I don't think its right. Possibly a improvisation?

@JinTCJL There were wrong notes and some weird sounding mistakes...but it wasn't bad at all...I actually thought it was very good.

from 5:05 it is nowhere near energetic enough.
what happened to the rhythm at 5:41? The 3 staccatos he plays are actually semiquavers which should lead into the semiquaver flourishes.
The interpretation is also much too dry for Liszt...
the wrong notes seem to be caused by technical imperfection rather nerves too...

at around 6:12 is he playing the right notes? I've been playing this piece for over a year now and I don't think he played the right notes there.

what's that mysterious ticking/clapping noise that you can hear form 1:25 nearly all the time? That's the only thing that really disturbes me.

I'm going to be completely honest here - I didn't particularly like it. Those mistakes in the beginning - how?
Apart from that, some odd pedalling in the beginning. Fast section was pretty good though, so well done :D
THe big powerful section in the friska was a bit too slow, I think.
