Zelda sent Link back in time to a point before Ganondorf killed the king. Zelda never left the castle and never gave Link the Ocarina of Time. They tried to execute Ganondorf and failed, so instead they sealed him away in the Twilight Realm (Twilight Princess). Link decides to leave Hyrule in search of someone (presumably Navi) and Zelda gives him the Ocarina of Time in parting.

@mattmmmg I think she left Link since when he defeated Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time, she didn't need to help Link anymore. In the beginning in Ocarina of Time the Great Deku Tree tells Navi that she have to help Link on his journey to save Hyrule, but since he done it she don't need to help him anymore. :) That's just what I think, but I want to know what happened to Navi too!

Ocarina of Time Walkthrough = Decent detail, explaining where to go, some cool info now and then. People complained that I needed to talk more.

Twilight Princess Walkthrough = Tried to talk the entire time, explaining EVERYTHING and sharing everything I could think of. People complained I talked too much, especially for cutscenes.

Majora's Mask Walkthrough = By far the most detailed video walkthrough so far. Trying to make everyone happy? Foolish ideal, I know. =\

What really blew my mind is that they didn't refer to the storyline from the ocarina of time I mean the song of time was used to open the temple of time and move time blocks not to go back in time I mean really! And since this was a DIRECT sequel, Link couldn't even ride Epona when he was a kid I MEAN WTF?!?! And worst of all HOW DOES LINK STILL HAVE THE OCARINA OF TIME?!?! DIDNT HE GIVE IT BACK TO ZELDA? Zelda sent Link back in time to a point before he ever opened the Door of Time. More specifically, it appears that she sent him back to a point before he even met her. He informed her and the King of Ganondorf and they proceeded to try to execute him (prelude to Twilight Princess). Link grew older a few more years and decided to leave Hyrule. Zelda gives him the Ocarina of Time in parting, since it has fullfilled it's purpose. (Because they altered time, there are now two dimensions.)

@runedood1000 it takes place in an alternate timeline. Link sealed away ganon then got sent back in time which created what is technically two different universes. WW, PH, and ST taking place in the "adult" timeline, and MM and TP in the "child" timeline. I know there are many more games but I only listed the ones that I'm sure most people believe (I personally think MC comes first) by now your headache is probably worse so I'll say this: it's just a game

It's called the Split Timeline. Ocarina of Time (future) sends Link back in time. He disappears and Hyrule continues as usual with Ganondorf locked away in the Sacred Realm for 100 years (the Triforce legend of 100 years of prosperity). Meanwhile Link gets sent back in time (Ocarina of Time past) and warns the Royal Family, who take Ganondorf away and try to execute him (Twilight Princess) instead banishing him to the Twilight Realm. We now have two Ganondorfs. Dun dun dun!

Not really. Early on in the history of the royal family, they put it into law that all of the princesses would be named Zelda. The character Link can be named whatever you want, so his name isn't even technically that. Ganondorf on the other hand is the same one as he doesn't die, although, there are two parallel timelines happening at once (confirmed by Nintendo all you linearists reading this =P though the big N seems to change their minds about the timeline often =\).

It takes place after the past in Ocarina of Time, but before the future in Ocarina of Time, which takes place in an alternate timeline, which may or may not exist now that history has been altered. However, Nintendo has said that The Wind Waker (adult) and Twilight Princess (child) take place at the same time.

I think it's exactly what they've said it is: gameplay first, storyline second. Majora's Mask is a prime example of this. They were using as much stuff from Ocarina of Time as they could, recycling it and producing some new gamelpay mechanics and a totally new storyline. Each and every game is custom built based on the technology and abilities they have available. Also, they've changed their minds on how they want the timeline to unfold every few years anyway.
