  • Hi,

Is it possible to get some tips from you I am thinking to grow large qty. of it. Maybe you can help ? I will try to post growing up to 1000 bamboo's

  • my email is artur.darbas@gmail.com

  • Have you gotten the moso bamboo to grow yet?

bought some seeds in october from china and 1 out of 25 actually started to grow:)

its about 12cm and been growing since 20 december

  • @defektor666

I've grown thousands of moso seeds. I find that the germination rate is around 30% with fresh seeds. You can find my blogs/pictures of them by simpling searching (moso seedling) in a google search and mine are on the first page.

I do suggest buying at least a few hundred because most don't germinate, and the ones that do may have problems, and it may take a few tries to actually grow them successfully.

I have my whole first seed exp documented on a bamboocraft forum thread.

  • Can you share some info ? Thanks

  • @Arturdarbas

If you type in moso seed experiment in any search engine, you should find a thread on the first time I tried moso seeds.

As far as other things on growing bamboo, it can be found under Steve's bamboo garden

  • @Arturdarbas

Steve's bamboo garden is pretty much my gardening blog

  • nice video, how do you plant the seeds ? vertically or horizontally ?

(i'm from argentina, thanks for the video)

  • @miltonrosario Thanks. I planted them with the smaller point upwards, vertically. Usually the fatter or thicker end is where roots comes out. Good luck with your seeds!

  • @AcrobatHero

    How are they doing now?

Moso seeds can be tricky to grow at the beginning, but once they start making shoots and bushing out, they are pretty easy to grow, especially once they are planted straight in the ground in natural conditions.

  • @miltonrosario it doesn't matter which way you plant them( or any seed for that matter ), they grow upwards no matter which way up they are! :) clever plants! :P

  • cool video thanks

  • No wayyyy! Love that you're planting the moso too ^_^ We currently have 4 coming up. If you peel the outer skin off, they will germinate faster.

  • @4GreenEarth2 Wewt! Thanks for the tip. Good luck with yours!
