  • I like the ending lol xD

  • It is way too fast for my little fingers :')

  • Tabs Please!!!

  • is that a wal?

  • @razer22222 It's a lakland 44-02

  • This isn't a lesson it's you playing to slowly

  • this is the way i first played. its good for sitting down but wen u stand up its hard to hook all the way.

    jst saying....

    nice playing though :D

  • Nice!!!

  • Hey! Great lesson, thanks. However, now that I have the first part down, could you post a video on how to play the chorus? It sounds a little different than the intro. Also, if the verse is any different from the intro, that'd be awesome, too! I learned it better watchin' you than from reading any tabs! Once again, great work!

  • Thanks!

  • cool...

    thank's

  • THE SONG HAS A VERSE ASWELL U KNO!

  • @AbsTheCoolDude yeah, and it's the same as the intro!

  • your playing it wrong on the bottom E string :L

  • @DilboFTW No, I'm playing it differently, not wrong. Think outside of the box, don't be a clone. Play any song the way that is most comfortable for you. Don't get trapped into thinking you have to play it the way the original guy plays it.

  • @far0n Totally agree. Especially on Mastodon songs... If thats your cup of tea.

  • @far0n Don't be lazy, learn it the way it's supposed to be played dude ;)

  • @glxblt :o) I actually learned the song first without actually watching him play it. Then realised a while later he played it differently.... nowadays I just can't be arsed to change. :o)

  • @DilboFTW like this guys way better. keeps it from ringing too loudly on open strings

  • whats ur strings?

  • @rrazzorrfull It's in the comments right below there !

  • your voice sounds like john deacon.

JUST saying :D nice playing mate

  • Inspirasi spirit

  • What strings are you using mate? :3

  • @BooTheGhost52 I use Warwick Red Labels, been playing for 20 years now and tried them all, Rotosounds, Elites, Fenders, Trace Elliotts, D'addarios..... the list goes on.... The Warwicks are superb... and really cheap too !! About £8-9 a set from Thomann.

  • @far0n Thanks!

  • @BooTheGhost52 nice I can

  • YOU play it very dificult, it could be a lot of easyer.... a lot

  • NEVERMIND the bad comments. YOU'RE GOOD !!!

    and I like your accent

  • maan.... I LOVE the riff in the end!!!

  • nice Lakland!! Dont think I'd use any other bass as my first choice since being an owner of one!

  • pfft the bit at thye end was just showing off

  • @ryancrich you jealous? ^^ he's really good, let him show off :)

  • 0_0

    HAIL TO THE SENSEI

  • one of the BEST Bass cover vids on youtube! helped me to finally master hysteria !!! keep it up !!! I'll follow:D

  • thanks for posting this. I still can,t do it.

  • are you related to groundskeeper willie?

  • is that a peavey millennium bass cause i have one and it only has knobs tho

  • damn geordie. can't tell the difference between your A's and E's.

  • @HopeisfortheHeartles Now now, Mackem I'll have you know. Please don't mistake my accent for the great unwashed up the road.

  • cool! now i wont look retarded anymore when i go to guitar center =D

  • Ahh that was sexy, I wish I had a bass just to be able to use it for this song lol

  • You are really good man great job

  • gave myself blisters learning this, my fingers hurt too much so i have to wait to start playing again

  • I WANT TAB!!!!

  • So you really just only play on the E- and D-strings?

  • cool, handy.

  • You should try playing that on a fretles base it sounds incredible

  • Check out my cover of this song, i played guitar and drums as well ^.^

  • @WesMan282 Absolutely outstanding my friend... very cool ! I'm deeply jealous :oD

  • your bass look yummy

  • Thank you for this, it's very helpful! I've worked out that in your slow demonstration there is one too many notes - when you move from the D back to the A string, you only need to play the open A once that time, then it's all making sense and in time. If you listen to the whole riff you can see what I mean. Great stuff though! :)

  • Your bass doesn't look too good: never paint a guitar. :S I find the section two part easir the other way instead of using just one string

  • @Jakebryden123 Eh ? Paint ? It's not painted, it's flamed maple !! Admittedly the camera doesn't pick it up too great :o/

  • @far0n thought that was called quilted maple

  • wow thank you! this helped out so friggen much! your my hero now ;3

  • AWWWW RIGHT!!! i learned this by ear last night and wanted to check if i was correct. i was trying to play over the E chord with an open E string in the bass. you're lesson just cleared me up!!! thank you, that was perfect!!!

  • I have that bass!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

  • That lakland sounds amazing.

  • nice job m8 :) don't know why theres so many morons picking at it though!

  • @ShowstopperV2 everyone has their own style....the fact is that he nailed the notes...why should u care?...if u prefer playing it on the A...then play it there...no1s stopping u

  • Thumbs up for Bass solo at the end :)

  • FAIL

  • Thaks man, i did it!

  • nice bro

  • very good ;D

  • really thanks this is a big song for a beginner like me and you just teached me so thanks

  • Your a lousy teacher! You should have said the notes! -:0

  • @Jakebryden123 .... It's YOU'RE a lousy teacher. You forgot your apostrophe. I'll teach you English as well if you like ? :oD

  • @far0n no you will be shit at that too

  • @far0n just slow down a bit ur good

  • @far0n If you teach English as well as bass then i think his English will get worse.

  • @far0n Fuck you this is the internet not an English lesson

  • @Jakebryden123 four months late and a dollar short lol

  • @far0n bet you can play better than these pricks that obviously watched your vid to learn it yet they just give you stick for it. Pathetic. Fair play to you mate.

  • @Jakebryden123 you can look up the notes online

  • i like,,,,

  • Show off! Lol jk thanks

  • Nice!

  • awesome!!! so clear !!!!!

  • i like the end, just to show off...

    nice job though.

  • pure awesomeness

  • pure awesomness

  • awful lesson... you are so lazy to teach..

  • Here's a tip that might help people who can't *quite* get it 100% accurate at normal speed. Get a metronome at set it to about 100 bpm (the actual song is about 93 bpm). Try playing it at 100 bpm and keep repeating the opening riff until you can get almost all of the notes. After that, turn the metronome back down to about 93 (my metronome only has 92) and you may find that the riff is much easier to play, and you can play it almost flawlessly.

Also, enjoy playing this awesome Chris riff :)

  • I kinda came a little

  • I play the part on the E string a bit different, but never mind that. :)

I think you can make the A string part easier if you don't slide back all the way for the lowest note (I think it's a D), but automatically put your hand into a new position and not change it whilst playing the F-E-D-E part with three fingers on the left hand, not just two. :)

But that's just what I found easier... Keep it up. ;)

  • do you have any tips to make it sound more fluent? or clean?

  • cool, thank you man!!!

  • Best tutor ever!!!

  • you could have made it a little easier in the mid section, but what ever works and it does lol. but over all spot on

  • -jaw drops-

  • Thank you so much...

    You are the best.... kkiki...

  • I want a bass guitar purely for this song haha :D

  • i think my fingerpicking is too slow for this song.. i always use pick for this song

  • Tell people what to do and dont just do it. it is frustrating.

You may be a good bass player but, you should work on your teaching skills

  • oi! looks like the way you play it is a lot easier than the way i've been learning. on the second part of the riff (E string) my tab had me jumping back and forth between E and A on the 10th and 12th frets so no notes went past the 12th fret. while it makes sense when thinking about how the notes are organized, it's really hard to go E0 A10 A0 E12 A0 A10 A10 E12 A10 A12 My fingers always trip up and end up playing them in the wrong order, never thought of shifting all those notes onto the E.

  • You helped confirm the tab I found. Thanks for the breakdown. Hey ZanderPlace....I'm 48!! Started a year and a half ago....You have your whole life...GO FOR IT!

  • You helped confirm the tab I found. Thanks for the breakdown.

  • awesome! *_*

  • hey man! awesome cover! but what kind of bass is it?

  • @Bassoman123 It's a Lakland 44-02 :o)

  • @Bassoman123 thats so awesome guys....

  • fucking awesome!

  • Comment removed

  • God, you make it look way too easy!

  • You just totally confirmed a tab for me. This is the right notes but an easier way to play it. Thanks man....very good!

  • use a pick if it picks too tiring :D

  • It's not an easy song but after a less then a week you will play this nice

  • thanks learned the song in 3 days. Not the whole 3 days... 2 hours a day the first part on the E string i learned it in 20 mins. the Second part took me roughly an hour and a half. which is on the A strong the third part on the D string took me roughly 10-20 mins. i learned the song. at first i was slow. then learned to go faster... when i put a cover of the bass for this song i found out that...... i was playing too fast... w/e just sharing my experience

  • @crunkinthis me too (:

  • the hammer ons are key.

  • Thanks!

  • thanks alot dude really helped (nice like thing at the end there)

  • i cant play it fast anough coz my starts to ache!!!!

  • you should be a teacher or something....thanks a lot for the vid! very nice

  • nice video!

  • Hi. I'm playing with a group of friends, most of us beginners like me. After several weeks playing together they "suggest me" that will be better to stop playing with finger and use a pick. the truth is with the pick sounds better, but i see that all the good bass player use their finger instead of a pick, and the truth I like more the fingers than the pick. What could be the cause of this difference between pick and finger and how can I fix it in order to play with better sound?. Thanks.

  • I can Play it less then 5 minutes in GUITAR & about 5 HRS in Bass Guitar , Cos I'm Not a Bassist.

    I Have Only a Little advice ...

[IMO] Perhaps when You Playin "E", I think it's "G" you can try play it in 10th fret [3rd strings].so you don't need to hit the "13th" fret

    But Nice TutoriaL OveraLL ...Thanx

  • Hi there, tips, well there's only one I can recommend... practice. With either a drum track or a metronome. It's boring but has to be done sadly.

  • Awesome tutorial!

The only thing I have problems with is the speed with my left hand (righthanded bass).

It just goes a bit too fast for mee,and then I make mistakes.

Do you have any tips or tricks for me?

    Thanks in advance,

    Maarten

  • Your awesome accent made thes video. Also, good bass playing. Took me forever to even begin to get this song right.

  • very cool solo at the end!

  • doin good! the bassline is actually properly done in only 2 positions with your left hand though... youre doing a lottttt of position switching which not only makes the bassline a lot harder but butchers the sound. excuse me if you did that for educational purposes

  • Pro..!! How long have you been playing for..?

  • @FluroTEE I actually started quite late when I was 19, I'm 38 now... so err 19 years !

  • @ZanderPlace It's never too late!

  • @TheTildaSwinton666 You typed that message from behind your straight-jacket right ?

  • @far0n My straight-jacket is in my pants and it's called a penis and you should wrap yourself in it.

  • @far0n I guess it should be called a gay-jacket.

  • @LethalViiper

Played in a few bands over the years, cut my teeth around the workingmen's clubs with Slipstream between 1995-2000, then with a band called Soulace, Fear of Falling, The Passion Killers and now with The Midnite Bears. In fact The Midnite Bears are coming to Sunderland soon... The Borough pub no less !!
