  • This movie was amazing. Top favorite movies 5/5

  • Review fail

  • The ending: Turns out the kid took to much mushrooms...

  • I love wild things, its probably my favorite show ever, unfortunately i spend a lot of time at work and miss nearly every week (i hate awkward hours)... anywas i found a place to watch it online theonlinecinema. net/where-the-wild-things-are

  • My parents took me to see gladiator when I was eight, and I liked it; it was okay, 7/10.

But i didn't like the parts where they just talked and talked and there was no action.

Of course kids will be bored with WTWTA; they like crude humor, fart jokes, etc. not talking about the sun dying.

We care about kids too much; are they being entertained? Who cares.

But are they learning something? That's more important.

  • this movie was GENIUS

  • if you like dismemberment, trips to the therapist, and the whole idea of the 2012 thing, then yes, it was genius

  • the movie was GARBAGE

  • Obvious troll is obvious.

  • Nice explanation, MrNemy86..

It's fantastic and it can be interpreted in many different ways.

People who understand it will get it, people who don't will hate it. (But its like this with everything, I guess.)

  • There is always going to be a dick who says that these good movies suck but the only reason they do that is cuz they just want attention.

  • if somebody says the movie sucks, it means that they think it sucks. i really hated this movie because it just kinda depressed me. max's crying scenes, the whole talk about "DOOMSDAY", the dismembering of douglas's ARM, just made me feel like my childhood was a lie. if they rereleased the book to fit the movie's theme, it would probably be bought most by emos who want an excuse to hate the world a little more.

    my rant is over,

and i dont care if im a nerd,

    so screw you,

    and good day.

  • I agree, this movie is mad depressing. Practically all the characters have some type of depression issue. And when the depression wasn't getting to me, I was worried that one of the monsters would accidentally kill Max's fragile butt at any given moment.

  • yea. i was scared for max too

  • YOU COULDA done with out the "screw you" part

  • @uglysumo it made me GIGGLE! lol

  • this movie could've been better if the monsters ate that kid. enough said.

  • it saw ti today.. and there was no detention thing, or aything to do with school..?

  • I really liked this movie - it's all about DMT- the kid is on a natural dmt trip and he is meeting spirits who take the form of the monsters. "It" is tripping on itself and the thing is the kid is not just king but actually a god of his world, and the monsters act like demigods do in myths. Additionally I feel this movie is the real godhead talking to our kids (and the kids in us adults). We are the real godheads' kid-like dream! Less enlightened people surely and sadly will not get this though.

  • Max represents the (id) inside us all and the island is an allegory for our escapism which could be sex, food, drugs, consumerism, religion or the film itself. sadly many of us are to afraid to leave the island (idealized world). Our lust for a psuedo-reality has led us to modern pop culture where we create online alter egos, praise reality tv stars, and poppills to numb the pain that living a life of empitness gives.

  • That's a really interesting idea on the whole thing that I didn't even consider. My interpretation was that every wild thing represented a piece of his psyche and that this was an internal journey to try to make them all live together peacefully. Carol:Himself/His Dad, KW:Good Mom, Judith:Current Mom, Alexander:Self Doubt/Weakness, Ira:His need to impress his mother, Douglass: His personal capability/logic. That's still what I think, but it's cool to see ideas you didn't think of at the time.

  • abdingus, this movie has nothing to do with God, every kid goes through this. And that's WHY the writers don't give resolution. There's no need to drag God into something that doesn't doesn't need a theological perspective.

  • movie sucked.

  • true...abdingus but this movie does have things for everyone. of course it was an emotional film about the monsters having problems. think of it as in Carol's roll...you don't need a king (god) to be happy. yes i believe in god but you don't have to be a dick about this movie.

i personally enjoyed this movie and im going to see it again tomorrow because i just loved it that much ^_^.

anyways...i kind of see how all 7 monsters were each emotional traits a lil boy his age has.

  • Wait, so you're saying believing in another imaginary friend that will burn you and your loved ones forever if you don't love him is a better solution? You're kidding right?

  • I grew up with movies that were deep and sometimes a bit scary but also sweet and poignant. But I loved those movies and still do. I don't think that kids should constantly be spoon fed the absolute CRAP cartoons that come out of Hollywood these days with no story or strength, just fart jokes and bright animation. My God. Kids need to see things that are maybe a little deep, strange or scary because I don't think seeing something with some substance would hurt.

  • as a non-theist: that's a load of shit. If you believe in extrinsic morality, good for you, but to say that people are amoral because of the abscense of God is obsense and offensive. Good movie though :)

  • i agree with snakehand the movie looks amazing and the book was also amazing you cant judge it because its not a kids movie

  • you guys are dumbasses. you give wherethe wild things a 5 and you give 9 a 2 and a half.

  • this movie was ok. I didnt really like the ending though

  • I hated it. It was so dark. I mean, it was like demented.

  • You mean except for the part when at the end the characters all accept one another for their common bond and realize the folly of hurting one another? Or the part when they say that max is the first king they didn't eat denoting that Max is finally on his way to understanding himself? Or the part where he returns home and his mother is happy to see him and she falls asleep watching him as it is clear that Max is grateful for his mother even if she's changed? Not to sound mad, but I disagree.

  • They don't exactly accept one another for their common bond. They only howl together. It's not the same thing. And in that last scene, there's no dialogue or reconciliation. Max's mom just falls asleep, and he eats dinner.

  • Well Carol returns, none of the monsters are fighting, they say that he is the only king they haven't eaten, which is kind of directly saying this is the first time they've ever been at peace, and Judith hugs Alexander, essentially representing his negative perception of his mom the way she is now accepting Max's flaws and doubts with love, and I think the howl is a great way to show acceptance.

  • Then when Max gets home, and his mom is falling asleep, it just really seemed to me like her gaze was very emotional. I think she showed perfectly without words that Max was the most valuable thing int he world to her, and she'd lost sight of that. Max on the other hand hungrily devours the cake, no longer resenting his mother's affection as patronizing. You don't have to agree, but what I saw was that the two finally realized how important they are to each other.

  • This movie sounds so happy and inspiring to someone training kids to think that their life as they know it is awful, your parents are dumb, and it is up to you to change the ways of your awful life.

Sounds like a movie I want my kids to see....

Do they hand out cards of local pediatric therapists when you leave this movie?

Can we leave political agendas out of our childrens lives please!?

  • It wasn't even marketed to children, it was just a bunch of parents who assumed it was a kid's movie taking them. Most of the people who read the book when they were kids are adults now, and it's a movie for people who understand inner conflict. On top of all that, the only real trauma a kid would be likely to experience from the movie would be boredom. It's not a political agenda, it's an exploration of the uncertainties and emotional conflicts during childhood.

  • I loved the movie and I also loved the book as a child. This is not a kid's movie it's too deep and emotional so I don't think kids under 15 or so will get it - it's not about funny monsters it's about childhood and growing up. I think adults in my generation from broken homes (like me) who read the book as kids will especially like it.

  • The movie was not what i thought i would see, but it wasnt bad; just a little strange. I liked it but i can see how this isnt a kids film

  • it looks like a good movie for young adults

  • Im not surprised some kids didnt enjoy it, it is very emotionally charged and if the kids not emotionally deveolped it would probably be hard to pull them into the movie. My 6 year old daughter loved it though. She even cried toward the end.

  • thats fairly sad.

  • WOW an tell that guy is NOT the one who wrote that review. He talks like he hates the words he's saying. The movie was ADORABLE and i'm really suppried so many kids didnt like it. What really made it was the soundtrack, it was sooo good and different, just like the movie itself and just like the book.

  • I LOVED this movie.. haha, buta pparently not many other people did, I felt like I really could relate ..as cheesy as that sounds.. to Max, even though it was kinda depressing/sad i loved it (:

  • i heard it really really sucked.

  • who said that? go watch the movie and see for yourself if it sucked or not.

  • This is not spam its true my gay lover did tell me that next time you want to offend someone dont use the "fag" card. Dumb ass.

  • Go to hell

  • yeah whatever

  • I thought it was great! My kid didn;t enjoy it as much as I did, and that;s cuz he is only 6 and the movie gets a little too deep for him. He did enjoy parts of it but overall, it is a little too mature for youner kids.

  • Yeah, I don't think kids would really enjoy it. But, I thought the movie was amazing. It was honestly unique, but yet, it was kind of...

Um, dark, I suppose. It was probably more deep that I would have assumed.

However, I believed it was a pretty great movie.

  • great review great film

  • this movie was absolutely beautiful. we laughed and cried. it was awesome. if you are a true fan of the book you cant help but love the movie.

  • so, was it a good adaption too the book? i really hope it is, its like my favorite picture book of all time.

  • it is better than the book, you should definitly see it.

  • BULLSHIT!

  • you are a dumb fucking moron

  • this is not really a kids film. it was made by spike jonze, so dont expect it to be fluffy and rainbows

  • so is it a good movie or a bad one?

  • i dont know if youve seen it yet but it is half and half

basically the book was better than the overly dragged out piece of donky shit

  • Watch Where the wild things are full movie @ wherethewildthingsarestream(. )blogspot(.)com

  • I am doing a wild things unit with my classroom and I really want to encourage my students to go see the film but I'm not allowed to until I find out the rating. Can anybody tell me what the rating is?
