  • lets get this debate on WBAI radio. occupy radio.

  • When he mentions rape and murder he's talking about black rape and murder of whites, right? We had some "african-americans" move in next door to us a while back. A month later, there was a street full of cops with drawn guns. How come asians haven't had the problem getting ahead that 'african-americans' seem to have?

  • Comment removed

  • @Shooters141 many asian nations have had a similar past to "african-americans" by other nations but not as recently. Asian people were never kidnapped, enslaved, brainwashed or brutally tortured for 300 years... many "african-americans" are still suffering from the repercussions of that..... if u dont understand that then u may have some issues....

  • @Shooters141

One swallow does not make a summer.

  • @Shooters141 move now, black ruin everything. your street is gonna suck from now on

  • @Herzog1012 ??? What are you talking about? How did what I wrote give you the impression I'm a bigot?

  • @sistarovat James Baldwin was gay, that might be why you think he acts like a "queer", because he was.

  • Why does this fellow act like a queer? Why doesn't he just talk normal?

  • @Sistarovat Talk normaLLY. If you absolutely must be a bigot, at least have the self-awareness to affect the pose of an articulate one.

  • I aspire to be this well spoken.

  • interesting times in america. when even the dumb black guy could be fairly intelligent and well spoken.

  • @zackhanscom i am praying for your ignorance.

  • Watch Buckley's ridiculous face-twisting.

  • Who the hell would dislike this? Must be from the south.

  • Where is the other side?

  • for a literature guy, i prefer this speech to martin luther king's , simply cause baldwin's prose style is far superior to that of king's

  • @xtrmsprts I love and adore Baldwin, but you must be on some sort of crack not to recognize the talent and once in a nation type of orator Dr King was. MLK moved millions with his powerful and effective prose. It also forced a nation to live up to its creed. Wake up.

  • "System of reality? - Does he perhaps mean: "personal bias from experience"? Cannot 2 white, wealthy Americans subscribe to a different "system of reality"? Baldwin was a bright guy, but his somewhat pretentious presentation here, begs more questions than are worth the effort responding to -

  • @lourak you are trying to hard to be critical.

  • @lourak you are trying too hard to be critical.

  • the land of unequal opportunity

  • is it some tacit rite of passage where cool people have to debate William F. Buckley

  • @sheltv Mussolini occupied Ethiopia...remember Halie Selassie? Also, if the object of your scorn actually was injustice of some sort, you wouldn't fetishize American involvement or 'white' involvement along lines directly opposed to your identity. US involvement in a slave trade started by Arabs was of minimal magnitude (750,000/30+million). So all you people want with that tired 'oppression' line is a government check. Go take your cheap Anti-Americanism to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

  • @PandaTimeNow Like the Rastafarians would say, Jah (God) will never give power to a bald head. And that has proven to be true after Mussolini could never conquer Ethiopia.

  • from 7:45 is the greatest thing ever

  • Everything that James Baldwin said in that speech is right. America has built its civilization at the expense of my black people, and most American whites go around the world with a guilt complex to say that it never happened. Well, I as a black expat working here in Asia will tell all people around the world that America has raped the black people. That is why even as a black Canadian I can exercise my ability to promote anti-Americanism everywhere in the world.

  • @sheltv100 Thanks for your comments. I'm also a black Canadian who was an expat working in Asia.

  • @sheltv100 Your theory might have a shred of truth to it if slavery actually benefited America, instead of being deceptively destructive, like socialism or communism. There's a reason the North won the war despite endless military catastrophes. "Raping the black people" set the south back a hundred years. The most successful parts of the country knew the least of slavery or racism! Your grasp of history, economics, or politics is dubious and self-serving at best.

  • @Yildun28 Yeah, perhaps self-serving for asserting myself as a black man to hurt people with the truth. Call me selfish. But I would rather be a selfish black man than to be walked all over by a Klansman.

  • @sheltv100 I've never understood how "asserting" oneself by delusions helps ones' self-esteem. It's a completely demonstrable fact that slavery hurts an economy by repressing innovation (why build labor saving machines and inventions when labor is free?). Every free society out-builds and out-performs competing slave based societies. Perhaps you should build your self-esteem on something real (i.e., the brotherhood of ALL human beings) instead of trying to play the victim.

  • @Yildun28 Well, perhaps I tend to be overzealous. But I know that slavery is still happening around the world. The difference being that it's not based on a specific race. It is happening through human trafficking. It's unfortunate that there are countries with emerging economies that have are allowing this to happen.

  • @Yildun28 The best way to control people is to make them feel they are "free"...

  • If you want to see this entire video go here /watch?v=-DfGgBb3Zh0 Thumbs me up for all to see.

  • @reasonparty I seen enuf. I see enuf of "african americans" on the video clip shows of them raiding 7-11s or beating the fuck out of defenseless people they outweigh by 100 lbs or outnumber by 5 to 1. I watch these shows called "Chimp Eden and Orangutan Island" and it's remarkable the resemblance "african-americans" bear to the chimp version of the simian world.

  • James expresses his visceral experience in a most eloquent and dignified way which must have made the audience most unfortable; rightly so.

  • The title is misleading, William F. Buckley doesn't even talk during the video.

  • @paleocon23 /watch?v=-DfGgBb3Zh0

  • @reasonparty Why thank you :)

  • @paleocon23 That's the title of the debate. Not misleading in the least. That's like saying if it were the title of a movie, it would be misleading for not including the entire film.

  • Can't even believe I am reading such comments. Some people are failing to realize that the economic operation in some countries is systemic, and if the argument is being made that minorities some how need us to pull themselves out of poverty is bullshit.. Need I sight certain countries in eastern Europe with third world conditions? They aren't black, they aren't minorities, and have the intellectual capacity of 2nd graders.. Damn get it right

  • I know no blacks that are borderline retarded! Can't even believe I a

  • why have I never heard of james baldwin before??? he is an amazing speaker. if only barack obama was more like him

  • Why isn't this dude's books made mandatory reading in schools?!

And where in the HELL did Baldwin EVER put on a fake British accent?! Buckley was clearly talking out of his ass with that remark.

  • I simply cannot believe the argument I'm witnessing... College prof here, and I'm not caring about any grammatical errors etc... Just read these next words... THERE IS NO TRUTHFUL OR SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE THAT SAYS BLACKS ARE INTELLECTUALLY INFERIOR TO WHITES. I'M WHITE, I SAID IT! Civilization began in Africa... Deal with it!

  • Integrity in its purest form!

  • THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR THIS UPLOAD AND THE LINK TO THE FULL DEBATE!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • If you watch the full version you get a very good idea what a true honey-tongued, velvet-swathed racist Buckley was. This man had the audacity to accuse Baldwin with putting on a British accent for the sake of the debate while all the while wielding one of his own in the broadest possible manner. You see, only a white, privileged American should be allowed to put on airs. What a foul hateful little man he truly was.

  • @joblow696 yeah he was, but it still is really nice watching him express his opinions in such a funny way. truly a remarkable figure.

  • @joblow696 Buckley built a TV career on catering to an audience so wowed by his pompous vacuous verbosity (that they mistook for profundity) that they failed to notice how wrong this pseudo-intellectual devout catholic was on segregation -which he supported; the Vietnam war - which he cheer led; creationism -which he believed; the Theory of Evolution - which he rejected; being “the man Christ-God died for” -which never happened.

  • @fctchk You've said what needs to be said about Buckley very well. Buckley wil be seen by history to have been on the wrong side of pretty much every important issue of his times.

  • the Kenyan could learn a thing or 2 from this guy

  • the highly successful all Black communities that have existed in this country throughout history..all outside of white influence, mein freund. 'Recalibrate' your mentality and the assumptions behind your so-called research, you might just Learn something. FYI Quoting like-minded pseudo-science doesnot a convincing tarnish-proof argument make. If nothing more it proves the relativity of IQ and genius that a NP winner would belittle his other worthy contributions w/ such a short-sighted conclusion

  • @sojournerinmind

Nice job of vanquishing that little racist clown, 'TaskForceSixTwoSix'.

I love it, when these latter day goose-steppers fancy themselves "intellectuals", and attempt to use science to justify their bigotry.

    They always fail so miserably.

  • Your obvious lack of knowledge and historical reference of the history of AAs, Africa and Africans also grossly derides your stated arguments. Here's a tip. Grab a history book on AAs and Africans not made available by the failing public educational system in this country and you'll learn of the empires that existed in W. Africa (in such nations as present-day Benin), the inventions originating there...

  • Furthermore your agenda, your specious and flawed reasoning (or that of these 'studies' you mention) are obvious and seemingly taint your research and your polemics. Again, you have come to the matter with an objective (and a polit agenda) and sought short-sighted support from this abstract 'scientific community' you allude to as evidence in lieu of pursuing objective research that could possibly debunk your preferred perspective. ...

  • @TaskForceEugenicsMan Again, no. Your counterarguments are examples of cultural BEHAVIOR related to innumerable other factors, not genetic predisposition to intellectual capacity. What you're talking about has been discredited decades ago.

  • @TaskForce... what malarkey. and the bell curve arguments&stats you're using have been discredited over and over. it's a shame that your putative intellectual curiosity re: the state of A-As and Blacks in Africa didn't lead towards actual comprehensive truths. it would appear the conclusions you made were those you were Content to make and possibly subconsciously anticipated making. so congrats on that. liberal or conserv, Rep or Dem, a myopic mind is a myopic mind. Cheers!

  • @sojournerinmind Nope. Politically correct leftist ideologues within the scientific community have indeed tried to suppress the ugly realities of racial IQ differences. They come up with all kinds of ridiculous theories to explain away observed IQ differences as irrelevent - such as black people lacking positive role models - but it's pretty obvious that it's little more than a blatant attempt to protect blacks from unpleasent truths about the intellectual capabilities of their own race.

  • Take what happened to James D. Watson recently. He's a giant in the scientific community. He won the Nobel Prize for discovering the double helix structure of DNA and helped to found the Human Genome Project. He was forced to retire (fired) about three years ago and was completely ostracized from the scientific community for a private conversation he had with a colleague in which he stated that all the scientific data points to blacks being intellectually inferior and incapable of developing.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix Attempting to argue w/ you is like attempting to argue with a wall. One's IQ is one determinant, one measure of intelligence and it seemingly being the foundation upon which your slanted argument is built makes it no more secure or reliable than a stack of cards in a stiff wind. You donot once negate or sufficiently undermine the historical and environmental factors seminal to such a debate nor delineate the parameters of these 'studies' you broach yetpresent them as gospel

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix It's funny you point out Watson's "discovery" of DNA.. When the fact of the matter is Watson "discovered" nothing. DNA was discovered, discussed and the concept was opened up long before Watson was even born. The reality in all your comments becomes obvious.. MS education. You have no clue wherfrom eugenics derives or racism for that matter. You're simply another tool of the Oligarchy, being pushed this way and that, fighting your own kind so as never to see your true master.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix Let's face it, this creep is just a racist plain and simple. He's rehashing all this bell curve crap that has been discredited utterly for many years now. There is absolutely no scientific data of any reliable kind which proves African-Americans or Africans are intellectually inferior. Any assertion otherwise is racism pure and simple.

  • @joblow696 I'm no more racist than the NAACP.

Blacks - and politically correct, self-loathing Whites - have been blaming supposed White oppression for chronic black underachievement for decades - which is actually quite racist and offensive to White people.

  • The absurd level of political correctness displayed with everyone constantly tiptoeing around the ugly truth that blacks are borderline mentally retarded and incapable of developing and maintaining advanced societies (without outside help from Whites) has simply become a circus.

  • "There's a vast, secret, racist, White conspiracy to hold down the brown peoples!"

Obviously disproved by all the humanitarian work Whites, and often Whites alone, do for brown people all througout the world. The humanitartian relief in Haiti after the earthquake being a perfect example. The billions of dollars sent to Africa to fight AIDS.

  • The enacting of "affirmative action" and "diversity" legislation by Whites that systematically discriminates against members of their own race just to artifically boost up the living standards of blacks. The success of East Astians in White majority countries. Etc. Etc. Etc.

  • We all know that blacks live in crushing poverty in countries they dominate and always comprise the lower class dregs in the countries where they're minorites. And we all know that it has absolutely nothing to do with some kind of global White oppression conspiracy and everything to do with low black intellectual capacity.

You can't change blatant reality. You can only make people afraid to talk about it.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix It's whites like you that cause the whole world to despise us black people. James Baldwin pointed that out and you are too ignorant to see that, because according to the Bob Marley, you are a crazy baldhead. A term that describes oppressors like yourself.

You want to talk about black people not maintaining advanced societies? You will see how damned wrong you are if you ever go to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The only African nation NEVER to be touched by white colonialism.

  • @TaskForceWhatever Uh, no. "Low black IQ"? Are cranium sizes next? Your list of worldwide IQs doesn't provide any sources or any methodology, so I'll have to disregard it as something you or somebody else made up until further information changes that. Second, it wouldn't prove or account for anything anyway. Third, whatever differences are likely more cultural more than intellectual capacity -- I mean, does Baldwin seem like he has a low IQ? Does Obama, for that matter?

  • Comment removed

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix You seem quite the perfect little robot.. with all your pseudo science you hail as reality because it's common place.. Has it ever occured to you that what the masses are taught differes from reality & that there are political, Corporate, Religious, and Royal agenda's faaar above what little sheeple are taught? You go ahead and stick to your pseudo science and latch on because you can "google it".. But you are being schooled by real science & wisdom left & right on this page.

  • @MaggotBrain10 Nope. I listed my sources. And you could easily google it. Type "race and IQ" into any search engine and see the decades of scientific data for yourself. And if it's "cultural", by which you imply that IQ tests are created by Whites for the purpose of proving Whites are intellectually superior, then why do East Asians score slightly higher than Whites? And Neo-Nazi types tend to hate Jews, correct? Then why do Jews have the highest average IQ in the world?

  • So IQ tests aren't "culturally biased" at all.

As to Obama and Baldwin, I'm talking about racial averages, not individuals. There's brilliant and stupid people in every ethnic group. But that doesn't change the fact that some races are clearly smarter than others, as a whole, which results in vastly different levels of societal development.

And Obama is half white - and most black Americans are part white as well - hence their slightly higher IQs than native Africans.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix Utter bullshit. THE most academically successful group of people in America, England, Canada, etc. are Black Africans. Get your facts straight.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix

You see. in this world everything boils down to two simple things, illusions and reality. And further down to one simple thing.. There are those who have power & those who do not. Those who have wealth & those who do not.. thus some have influence & some do not. Thus those very very few at the top create the illusion 99% of the masses operate within. That is you. Simply put, you live in an illusion, created to control the masses, some of us don't & even fewer are free of it

  • What was Buckley doing at Cambridge (UK), at this time? lol I understand Baldwin escaped americas oppression, but buckley? he he he

  • james baldwin was an intelligent sensitive soul and a man who spoke from his heart. Buckley was a small-minded neo-liberal conservative like all too many others we see out here these days who are content to believe economic models and uni-dimensional, created-in-a-vacuum free market principles trump societal realities and on many levels, humanity.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix

First of can we immediately debunk the notion that one's IQ is the sole comprehensive determinant of human intelligence. Because it most certainly is not. You also reveal your ignorance as re: the very notion of 'black' vs. 'white' when there is but one race (scientifically speaking) and all is a matter of adaptation and environment. Secondly any divergence between the IQs of Bs vs. Ws does in fact have to do with the educational systems and opportunities afforded ...

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix

other grps not as acutely relegated to poor schools and sorely lacking academic opportunities. Not to mention the psychological and psycho-social effects of living in such environs. And this argument you make about epidemic poverty and violence 'following blacks wherever they live' is an ignorant, ridiculous statement considering 1) that the African man was the original man. His civilizations (and yes there were African civilizations predating white influence)...

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix

..were undermined, poisoned and uprooted by the arrival of Euro-colonial powers and have since been suffering with the aftermath of such multi-faceted desecration. So the very notion of Africans seemingly bringing violence wherever they go is inane. If you're content to be of biased mind and heart then just state that in lieu of making myopic assertions so clearly tainted by bigoted notions of 'race' and reality.

  • Wow. Thank you so much for this video.

  • This video has less than 30,000 views while "star wars kid" has over 5 million.

  • infinitely intelligent. I wish our youth would watch this instead if world star hip hop!

  • Where is Buckley's part?! Fairly sure I've seen it up here....

    Thanks for this!

  • incredibly smart man

  • Please post the rest of this presentation. I beg you! IF you have access to it.....

  • How could you possibly label the category of this video "Comedy"? It seems like a rather serious affair.

  • Brilliant man

  • The average black IQ is about 80. The average white IQ is about 105. Debate that.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix Flynn effect proves that the claim of IQ being linked to genetics in anything more than a cursory way is deeply flawed. Cultural bias and nurture/environmental factors play an exponentially higher role than human genetic discrepancies with IQ scores and serve to discredit what semblance of accuracy any unscientific zealot ascribed to it

  • Comment removed

  • @BOZ11 Despite the flynn effect, the differences between various ethnic groups and IQ have remained almost exactly the same over several decades. And any denial over the blatant reality that there is indeed very real and inherent genetic differences in intelligence between the races is mere political correctness and willful ignorance. Epidemic poverty and crime follows blacks everywhere they live and govern.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix "Despite the flynn effect, the differences between various ethnic groups and IQ have remained almost exactly the same over several decades"

The IQ score discrepancies don't have anything to do with the Flynn effect. Do you even know that the Flynn effect is? If you would read and understand I needn't repeat that the IQ discrepancies are a reflection of the continuing socio-economic discrepancies and the cultural biases inherent within psychometric testing.

  • @BOZ11 Yes. I do understand the flynn effect. It's the observation that human IQ scores have been very slowly rising over the decades most likely due to better diet and education. For some strange reason you seem to think that disproves my assertion that blacks are inherently less intelligent than whites even though, as I stated, the IQ gaps between the two races have remained almost exactly the same over several decades despite the flynn effect.

  • You seem to be implying that since IQ scores are slowly rising then that means blacks are catching up to whites; but they simply aren't. So, the obvious conclusion from this data is that environmental factors, or "nuture", is indeed not the primary actor driving the vast observed differences in race and IQ as you argue. Rather innate inherited genetics are as I argued. And your "cultural bias" canard simply isn't worthy of a serious response due its obvious hilarity.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix i ignored your previous post (which u deleted) since you described the Flynn effect as being the normalisation of IQ scores (which it of course isn't) and therefore proved yourself of having had no idea. I see you have read about it now, and I can address your ill thought out racially motivated mode of thinking. To repeat myself, the Flynn effect proves that IQ discrepancy is affected to a much greater extent by environmental/socio-economic discrepancies than genetics

  • @BOZ11 I only delete posts to correct typos. All my comments are still up in full. And I accurately described the flynn effect which I've been aware of for years ever since I started researching IQ amd its implications. And no, the flynn effect doesn't prove anything of the sort. I've never argued that both environment and inherited genetics don't play a role in IQ scores. You are by denying that inherited genes plays any role whatsoever in order to deny the observed vast IQ gaps of the races.

  • Your argument has already been thoroughly debunked. Black people who've been adopted by wealthy white parents ever since they were infants still have the same average IQ of their race despite having access to the best nutrition and education. And whites who live out in extremely rural areas (aka "rednecks") still have the same average IQ of their race. And when a mother and father of two seperate races have a child, the child will inherit an IQ inbetween the two parents. Etc.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix "You are by denying that inherited genes plays any role whatsoever "

i didn't specify that at all. dna determines your physical and intellectual ceiling, but very few people ever get anywhere near it. environmental factors are more pertinent with IQ scores

"I only delete posts to correct typos. All my comments are still up in full."

you don't have the courage to admit u said the flynn effect was about normalisation of IQ scores, after deleting it. i'm disengaging from this.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix in order for the genes to cause an IQ gap there would have to be a reason. genes are biological manufacturers for "necessary" adaptation, what would've been the need for European ancestral genes to develop this elevated "ceiling" of intelligence?

  • @blkpache Good question. The truth is, we don't know exactly. Leading theories are that there tends to be a strong, but not absolute, correlation between climate and intelligence. For example, here's an incomplete list of ethnicity and IQ from around the world:

    Ashkenazi Jews - 115

    East Asians - 108

    Europeans - 105

    Sotheast Asians - 90

    Hispanics - 85

    Arabs - 85

    African Americans - 80

    Sub-Saharan Africans - 75

  • Comment removed

  • The general tend, with few exceptions, seems to show that ethnic groups needed higher intelligence levels in order to survive and thrive in colder climates. They'd need to build more complex structures, more elaborate clothing, advanced food gathering skills, etc.

  • As to why the Ashkenazi Jews have such high IQs, it seems they've gone through a kind of brutal and barbaric form of survival of the fittest as a result of their race being constantly put through some form of violent persecution. Only the clever ones have consistently escaped the gallows and gas chambers over the centuries.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix but all the apes originated in africa? how could that be?

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix ..and also, ultimately, what are you insinuating?

  • @blkpache Mmm. Well, I used to be a hardcore leftist. And I wanted to understand why some people and nations are poor and others are rich so I could help fix it. I used to true believer in the common "evil white men are holding brown people down" explanation until unconvienent facts, such as Asian success, ruined that ridiculous - and really quite bigoted, towards white people - notion.

  • So, what am I insinuating? That really only Whites, Asians and Jews are capable of independently building and maintaining advanced societies from the ground up. And that the real reason why blacks have such low standards of living all around the globe isn't due to white racism, as implied by this lecture, but rather low black IQ.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix I would say the mayans were a pretty advanced civilization. and is Egypt not in Africa?

  • @blkpache Nuture and nature plays an important role in empire building. If you read the works of Jared Diamond you'll see why. Although he's a politically correct leftist who's trying to argue that environment is 100% responsible for the fate of your society and that IQ has nothing to do with it. Nevertheless, it does give some interesting insight into how an why people with low IQs once had great empires in the ancient past. And Egyptians are arab, not black.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix ..i suppose only time will tell. lets not forget that 50 years post civil rights we have our 1st, i'll repeat that FIRST, black president. Where will we be in 50 more years? and not we as in black people but we as in humanity in terms of our perception of all humanity. say i agreed with you, people from cold weather climates are more intelligent, what agenda would you pose for future civilizations?

  • @blkpache Well, what the left is trying to do is pursue a "soft" continuation of global communism. The communists believed Marx when he postulated that all the problems in the world could be blamed on lack of economic equality. They believed that if we could create a global middle class with no poor and no rich, then crime would completely vanish, as would poverty (obviously), war and racism.

  • But unlike the communists, they believe in doing it slowly over time through legislation, activism and propaganda rather than through a gun barrel and gulags. And they've accomplished much of that goal domestically in most of the West. America is the last real bastion of conservatism which has stubbornly resisted this socialist push from the left for decades - until recently that is with the election of Obama...

  • So, to understand my "agenda" (I don't really have one to be completely honest), you have to fully appreciate the agenda of the other side of the spectrum. As I previously described, they're pursuing an agenda of domestic and global wealth redistribution to the lower IQ races who are incapable of organically raising their own standards of living independently. And I'm totally opposed to that utopian, socilaist lunacy.

  • So, my "agenda" is to reject this entire notion. I don't want to redistribute my wealth to low IQ mongoloids. I like spending it myself, thanks. It's not my fault other races got owned by natural selection. That's their problem. Not mine. I feel no moral responsibility to hold their hands and help them to develope. Until genetic engineering comes along, they're stuck with being poor I'm afraid.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix Really, what's your point? Does an IQ score indicate that one person is superior to another? A person can score well on an IQ test and be a total prick or an emotional idiot. Also,my sister used me as a test subject to practice administering IQ and aptitude tests when she was preparing for her masters degree. My range of scores was pretty wide from test to test. If you saw just one of the scores you'd think I was either smart or maybe average depending on which one you saw.

  • Comment removed

  • @zadig1 No. But IQ is really the only scientific way in which we can measure someones intelligence. Certainly it isn't a perfect method for doing so but it does tend to closely correlate amazingly well with real life academic, criminal and economic success - or lack thereof. I highly suggest you read "The Bell Curve" and "IQ and the Wealth of Nations". They both make a very convincing case for IQ being one of the most important factors in personal, racial, societal and national success.

  • Comment removed

  • NASA, the U.S. military, the CIA, academia and a whole host of other important institutions all throughout the world; all rely on IQ tests to decide what job or task you can qualify for or what school you can go to. And mind you, these institutions serve extremely vital services and therefore have little tolerance for the kind of political correctness you epouse. If you're going to be flying a space shuttle or a $2 billion dollar stealth bomber, they want to ensure that you're not a Homer.

  • Comment removed

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix Did you happen to read my review of James Baldwin on this thread? What I wrote was far from being PC. My reply to you also wasn't PC. It was indisputable fact. I was just wondering why you posted a comment about IQ here. How is it relevant to any discussion of the video? In my opinion it comes across as petulent and unnecesary.

  • James Baldwin in fact did not build any railroads or pick cotton for free under the whip of some white oppresser(something he claims as an indisputable fact). On the contrary, in this video he is standing at a podium in a beautifully tailored suit being lauded by a bunch of white elites. Yes, racism still exists. Whites may be racist toward blacks. Blacks may be racist against asians. Asians might be prejudiced against mexicans ect...Also, I just can't trust an expatriate.

  • @zadig1 You're a fool since James Baldwin meant the collective "I".

  • @BOZ11 Why so angry BOZ? Obviously Baldwin meant it metaphorically. My point is that it isn't an accurate metaphore. Read up on his history. He expatriated from the US because he didn't feel comfortable here as a black homosexual. He never really suffered. He spent his time galivanting around the world with celebs like Sydney Poitier and Marlon Brando. Calling me names won't change my opinion that most of these race crusaders are phonies. I challenge you to reply to this intellegently next time.

  • @zadig1 "He never really suffered" - so living in a homophobic, deeply racist and segregated country as a homosexual black man is to "never really suffer"? Moving to _slightly_ more tolerant countries doesn't undo whatever prejudices he most certainly would have encountered living in the U.S. He also went back to the U.S to join the civil rights movement, so your implication that he chose flight over fight is also misleading.

  • @BOZ11 Perhaps he would have better off in his native Africa where he could look forward to dying at the ripe old age of 5 because most people living there are too stupid to avoid defecating in their own water supply.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix I can see now all the unscientific talk of IQ is a weak rationalisation for your now overtly racist views

  • @BOZ11 That's better BOZ. Now we have a difference of opinion instead of vituperation. What would it take to induce you to renounce your US citzenship? Personally, I wouldn't do it under any circumstance, and there are plenty of black homosexuals who also love the USA enough to remain loyal. And once you've rejected your country, what moral right do you have to come back and tell people how to live. I'm very much in favor of civil rights, but I'm not a sucker for soaring rhetoric from an expat.

  • @zadig1 "I wouldn't do it under any circumstance"

That's not patriotism and you're no patriot! What if your country became a fascist dictatorship? Still wrapping yourself in stars and stripes? Would you goose-step? The real patriot is the one who dissents in the face of injustice, and racial segregation is comprehensively unjust. For joining the civil rights movement he contributed in his own small way to the betterment of American society. Few better examples of patriotism

  • @BOZ11 Very melodramatic, "you're no patriot!" you said. I think I struck a nerve when I asked what it would take for you renounce your citizenship. I noticed that you used the phrase "your country" when you asked whether I would goose step around with a bunch of facists, and in doing so you accidentally answered my questoin. You already have, metaphorically of course. It's interesting that to you a good example of a "real" patriot is an expatriot.

  • @zadig1 "I noticed that you used the phrase "your country""

i'm not american, im british and my point still stands.

  • @BOZ11 Lol! I guess ya got me there : ). I did assume that I was debating a American. But it doesn't negate my original point. Baldwin was a phony. An expatriot isn't a "real" patriot. I still think you are a bit to angry. And no, I wouldn't give up my citizenship under any circumstances. Maybe things are different in Europe, but in America jack booted facists parading through the streets tend to have their asses handed to them.

  • @zadig1 "jack booted facists parading through the streets tend to have their asses handed to them."

They only get their asses handed to them if there happen to be dissenters willing to fight it. men like baldwin. you already made it clear you're not a dissenter when u said: "What would it take to induce you to renounce your US citzenship? Personally, I wouldn't do it under any circumstance"

Forgive me, but an unwillingness to dissent is a susceptibility to goose-stepping

  • @BOZ11 You're just being silly now. Of course I wouldn't jump in and start marching with a bunch of nazi's or whatever. The patriotic thing to do is to vote political candidates who stand for freedom and liberty, not leave the country.

  • @zadig1 yes he left the U.S, but i refer u to an earlier point i made: "He also went back to the U.S to join the civil rights movement, so your implication that he chose flight over fight is also misleading"

  • Wow James, you just described what every average man black or white goes through. Your not special or different just normal.

  • is there a audio version of the full speech. so i can listen to it on a ipod

  • This vintage video filled with scholarship is profoundly perfect with unflinching insight into the human condition. I share this with you because of the thought process and articulation of James Baldwin and his great insight and courage to share.

  • Whilst I'm sure the American Negro got the rough end of the stick for a long time, it is not fair to lay the blame solely on whitey's door, whatever that means anyway. If I haven't been misinformed, in the South before the abolition of slavery only 2.7% of free whites owned slaves, while 30% of free blacks owned slaves. Both blacks and whites owned black and white slaves alike. These topics merit further investigation.

  • @thespacialone @thespacialone Really?? Both black and white owned black and WHITE slaves? 30% of black free men owned other slaves? Almost one in three blacks owed a slave?. I am not sure where you are getting your information; but safe to say you are misinformed. Perhaps at one time in New Orleans your figures held true, but that is still debated. You really should research thoroughly before you put out information that is wildly inaccurate and more than a bit insensitive.

  • @OrchidIslander Do you suppose expert knowledge in this area? Because you're not convincing me. Try doing some research before bothering me. I can only go by what I read and I hear. I'm finding a relatively strong consensus on the figures I relayed.

Circa 30% of free blacks owned slaves in the slave-holding states, not other slaves, because they weren't slaves. What's wrong with you?

  • @OrchidIslander Irony or ironies. If the Wikipedia article is to be believed, the first legally recognised slave in America was owned by a black man.

In 1654, John Casor, an African, became the first legally recognized slave in the present United States. A court in Northampton County ruled against Casor, declaring him property for life, "owned" by the black colonist Anthony Johnson.

    revisionisthistory[dot]org/forgottenslaves[dot]html

I got lots more good sources. What do you have?

  • @thespacialone Most free blacks In the U.S. who owned slaves owned their family members. In other words, they were just purchasing their spouse or child in order to liberate them.

  • @partmaudite Of course there were people like Ellison and as some scholars have pointed out it was not impossible for free blacks to purchase slaves to help improve their economic status and incorporate the pro-slavery views of the white south. The point is that as southern states made manumission harder through legal restrictions many free blacks had to own their family members. This accounts for a large chunk of free black slaveownership. I reckon...

  • @partmaudite Well that makes it okay, then. A slave is a slave is a slave, no matter who their master. Don't you think it strange that most free blacks would free some of their family members and keep the rest in shackles? It is demonstrative of slavery being endemic on the African continent completely dependent of European intervention (though I doubt this initially helped matters). Black leaders sold their own, and the Negro was so conditioned as to precipitate matters even when free.

  • @thespacialone What does the actions of free blacks have to do with African slavery? Also, African slave traders were from different cultures and states from those they enslaved. You cannot say "black leaders sold their own" because it is simply false.

And you missed my point about the purchasing of family members. Due to strict manumission laws, most could not free their relatives so they were on paper slaves, but in no meaningful way were they enslaved. (Ellison's type thugs aside).

  • @partmaudite I can't believe I'm hearing this. "What does [sic] the actions of free blacks have to do with African slavery?" Unreal. Blacks sold blacks, whites were stolen. But no one ever cared about poor whites, & never will. If your claim about manumitted slaves is correct, the "free" blacks cannot be said to have been free, in that they were denied property right available to whites. And I'm certainly not buying the "they were all family" line anyway - there were many huge Negro operations.

  • @thespacialone Finally, as for not freeing all their relatives. Are you serious? Most free blacks in the antebellum South were poor. Slaves were expensive. I sure many free blacks would have loved to buy up all their relatives. And as you no doubt know, Garrison opposed this strategy because it seemed to accept the legitimacy of slavery. I recall Garrison and Douglass having words about the later purchasing himself. Do you think that proves Douglass was in some way pro-slavery?

  • @partmaudite Finally. What am I missing? 25% of free blacks in the antebellum South OWNED ten or more slaves. I take it Garrison was an abolitionist. How did they get in on the conversation? I understand the point you are (he was) making, but I'm not sure how it's relevant. Where they could, blacks were ten times more likely to own slaves than whites. Get over it.

  • @thespacialone

and slavery is alive and well in Africa and Haiti today.

  • @ratednine Unfortunately so

  • @thespacialone Your people are the masters of propoganda. Put the drugs down.

  • @itsme30518 You "people" lol. How typical. You don't even realise you've lost any argument on this before it even begun because you prefer the convenient lie over the inconvenient truth. Try watching Maybe You've Been Lied To, and start educating yourself.

  • Thank you, to whom ever posted this national treasure.

  • Thank you so much for posting the address of the full debate. I was unaware that it occurred until I read Baldwin's autobiography. Thanks again, great stuff.

  • bravo!

  • Is he gettin at King?

  • "James Baldwin v. William F. Buckley Jr. Debate" is incorrect. "James Baldwin goes on and on" is the right title. This speech may have applied more correctly to the time in which it was given but has nothing to do with the now. And if there are still inequities I propose that those who make this claim, clean up their own house. It is now that whites have given complete freedom to those of all colors that the showing of gratitude is revealed. just look at crime statistics, or well-fair stats.
