  • Hey, I wanna ask.. Why is it that when I tried to give treats to my rat when they're outside from their cages, they wont eat?

  • Lol

  • nicer rats! =) but i wonder did you buy both at same time? and are they boys, girls ore one of both. + wath do you use for tret

  • @TheJ0ne do you know how long it would take to train a pet rat to learn one of these tricks on command ?

  • @maiacakes12 no, sorry :)

  • awesome videos

  • how do you get the holes in the golf ball

  • Seriously, please keep making videos. You have a knack for it. ^^

  • My rat will not do the tricks outside of his cage and he just sniffs around when i take him out

  • I have 7 right now and my Russian blue hooded dumbo does alot of these already and recently learned to dance to this song lol

  • My rats are too smart for that :( they know I am giving it, so i put the ball in a glass, they take the ball i give them food, then i put ball back and they come to me for more. :(

  • how many rats do you have imean in all your videos you have rats running around ???

  • what is the name of the treats you buy because my rat only seems to be interested in cheerios

  • can i get some fries with that shake. cool rats

  • Lol :) thank you

  • after awhile do you still need to give it treats

  • Hi Paul! That was So good....You are a brilliant teacher :-) The music fitted the task perfectly. My fat boy Bubble(he resembles a hovercraft) puts his ball into his food bowl all the time; No matter how many times I take it out.... <:3( )~~

  • Haha :). My boys cover all food bowls with shredded paper, even if the bowl is no where near the bed they drag it there and arrange on top ... curious behaviour indeed lol.

  • hey paul were do you get those balls?

  • They're just little plastic balls that i drilled holes into for grip ... you can get the balls with holes already in though - most likely to find them in sport shops as they are sold as "practice balls" for golf players :)

  • Ping pong balls also work well for this :)

  • great videos thanks ! can you tell me how many treats you can give? i wouldnt wanna make the rats i get fat from teachin tricks? thnx

  • Treats are exactly what they say, just "treats" so not all the time. For training i'd reccomend just 5 minutes a day and break any treats up small so you don't over treat. No need to train everyday either, its good to give the rats lots of variety

  • 3:20 Hee hee the butt wiggle! XD

  • lol!! he does a great butt wiggle :)

  • COOL =]

  • Thank you :)

  • THANKS SOO MUCH I TOUGHT HIM TO STAND ON HIS LEGS you rock!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lol pleasure, but wrong video? lol :)

  • Yes i agree im going to teach my little jamesy new tricks thanks sooo much:) your great help. and beautiful rats i might add.

  • Thank you :D ... i hope the training goes well :)

  • your videos are really good and helpful.

    thanks

    :)

  • My pleasure :). Glad you find them helpful :)

  • *Ninja hands*

Hahahaha! Wow, how old are your rats? They're huge! Granted, they're males, but they look like they'd completely drawf my two girls.

  • The two males here are a year and 4 months ish. And yeah they really do dwarf my girls. Girls are always a lot smaller than boys but these are big boys too :)

  • hah, i tried teaching my rats that but they woujldnt pay attention lol, anyway, they are excellent jumpers :D

  • lol ... something you just have to work at :)

  • Your videos are fantastic, thanks! xx

  • Thank you :) ... and my pleasure, i hope the training goes well :)

  • Love your ratties!!

I was just wondering do your two boys ever do their business on the floor of their play room?

    Thanks

  • They will but not often. I've never needed to litter train them or anything because they're actually very good but it is possible. Ratties will tend to pee and poop through fear a little too so if you've only recently got your ratties then give them time to settle in a little and it should get a lot better :)

  • I love your clever ratties and all the great ideas for tricks to get their minds working :)

  • Thank you :). Keeps them active and entertained and they love the training :) (and the treats lol)

  • where didu g te thye ball?

  • Its a plastic ball from a kids play golf set. And then i driled some holes in it and cleared away and loose bits so it was safe for them. You can buy ones with holes already in but i had a hard time locating one

  • What an awesome trick to teach! I'm definitely going to have to try that one... I just love Whiskey & Womble :D Right now I'm teaching my little guy to weave in & out of little mini orange cones...he's catching on pretty quickly. I'll try & get a video. But now I know what I'm gonna teach him next... Thanks for another great video!

  • Aw hehe :) thanks :) ... glad you enjoyed the video. Good luck with the training. The tunnel fetch is pretty simple for the critters to pick up so lots of fun :)

  • Lol love this video..mini dogs. I wish I had the time and petience to teach my 5 girlies these tricks. I went down to the beach and filled their cage with driftwood today, it was heaven for them hehe

  • Girls are much harder to train than boys, mostly due to their extra energy. Worth keeping at it though :). Thanks for watching :) and let me know if i can help at all

  • 1:47: "Treat? Treat? Aw mang..." :D I love the glamor shots at the end as well!

  • Lol thanks, they enjoyed their photo shoot :)

  • You've got well trained rats... or do they have you trained? lol Good job!

Next time I get asked how to train a rat, I'll send them your way. :)

  • These two are just well trained and simple lol, i think the girls are training me though, will have to stop that. lol

  • wow what treats are you giving them, so i can try this out on my two youngsters

  • Best to experiment around a bit and find some treats that you're ratties really love. Try any of the rodent bagged treats from pet stores but break them up lots so that you can train without over treating. You could also try tiny bits of veg like brocolli etc. :)

  • Aww! I shall steal your ratties..

  • Haha ... you'll have a tough time! *Sits in front of them guarding*

  • no fair! *cries in corner saying "ALL I WANT IS A WHISKEY & A WOMBLE! IS THAT TOO MUCH TOO ASK FOR?"*

  • Nooo ... mine!

  • So cute. Again another well done video. I like the way he looks at you like, "Again, I have to do it again?" and tries to wrestle the ball from you. Again, what sweeties they are.

  • Yeah lol ... the ball wrestling unfortunately followed a bad throw of mine which didn't make it down the tunnel so Whiskey was taking advnantage of me being rubbish lol

  • cool

  • Thank you :)

  • :-)

    Great vid, really helpful!

After about 5 minutes my girl rats already fetch it from about 30cm down.

    (-:

  • Great going :). It is a simple enough trick for them to pick up but i'm really glad to hear the vids method works :D

  • As always i loved it :D xx give the boys a kiss from me an the girls :D

  • Aw lol ... they all say thank you :D

  • awhhs that`s so cute X3

  • Thank you :)

  • No problem there. I've never begun to train any rat of mine in the past untill they are fully tame and well setled in ; )

  • Tehehe very nicely done and very original. Will you train your girls too?

  • Thanks :). Girls will get training, but its always best to leave it until after they have formed a really good bond with you. There has to be lots of trust there first :), they've made heaps of progress but aren't ready for training yet :)

  • Yeah this one is Whiskey's trick, not taught Womble it to be honest. They haven't chewed the tunnels as much as you'd think, the bad one you see has been passed down from through a generation :)

  • They are so cute!! what candy do you use??

  • i find that a small piece of dark or milk chocolate is a perfect treat. if not, use yogies. rats love yogies.(youghurt drops)

rats will love anything you love. ann small sweet is great. just not too much of it though...

  • Chocolate is ok in very small amounts but best not to give it that often, its really not good for them in larger amounts. Yogies are trully loved lol. Easiest bet is to take a quick trip to the pet store and find some bagged treats and just make sure they're broken up before training :)

  • my rats are very picky. and plus the nearest pet store (which is a crap one) is a 1hour drive away. i use half a square of hersheys chocolate, frozen to be able to cut it, between 2 rats. if im out of chocolate or candy, i use DRIED BANANA. try dried banana. rats go mad for it, and its hard and crunchy, so good for their teeth.

  • Any pet store treat (broken up into small bits) is fine. Break it down as much as possible to avoid over-treating whilst training. Other things like small bits of brocolli etc are all fine and much loved too :)

  • Cute.

  • Thank you :)

  • Aww another fantastic training video :)

    Does Whiskey prefer this trick?

I loved the photos at the end so cute in their tunnel ... The second one of Womble is adorable seeing all his whiskers :D

    5 star video hun :)

I cant believe how much they have chewed their tunnels, mine never touch them! Lol
