i am trying to learn it because i think it is beautiful and elegant. But for some reason, cursive in pencil looks better then ink.i just cant write nicely in pen.
Althought cursive handwriting is not taught in my country's education system, I kind of taught myself how to write in cursive when we were needed to copy notes fast. It's easier writing in cursive fast than in normal block letters.
... im a jr in highschool and this kids writing is better than mine, and when she said u didnt cross you other t i would have crossed the d ass well lol, sad to admit it but its true and im not a lier
Okay, seriously people? This kid is in third grade, and you have nothing better to do than to critize a THIRD GRADER? I'm in EIGHTH GRADE, and all of you are probably 16+ and you're writing nasty comments about some poor little boy who is trying to learn cursive? That's pathetic. I think that this kid is very very good at writing cursive, mine looks awful.
@mfgunit If we're bringing that up. It's "you're", okay? You stereotype people in the US like every other ignorant faggot. Even though I'm not American, I can say not everyone can be stereotyped and classified as idiots. Think about where all the media etc comes from.
My cursive writing got so bad by the 6th grade (1981), my teachers made me write in print. Not even me, my teachers or my parents could read my cursive writing. For changing to print, I'm greatful.
In 3rd grade, we had folders, were there were those sheets of cursive practice paper. The letter we would be working on would be written big at the top of the page. We had to go over it with our pencil multiple times, than we would attempt to write the letter over and over on the lines provided for us. I remember we did like 4 or 5 letters (uppercase and lowercase) and then, someday, the folders just disappeared, we stopped working on them. I always missed them, I still wish we could've finished
its horrible that our education system does not encourges cursive writing I believe that a person that can not write cursive is a semi literate person for real writing is cursive not print
@fanfictwriter That is one more reason the disappearance of cursive is so sad. Not only does it look so much nicer, but it's faster. Most students, if they're taught cursive at all, don't practice it enough to become fast at it, so they never realize how much easier it is.
@fanfictwriter wow I though my school was the only one to make us to that! We had to write in cursive or we would get an F too. Now I do find it quicker to write in cursive. I guess its because all the letter are combined & you dont have to lift on ever letter you write. :)
I'm in 7th grade, I used to write in print, but then I started writing in cursive for two reasons: so that I could actually keep up with the Science teacher when we take notes, and two, because it looks cool. =)
You might want to try to learn it, I'm in 7th grade and it's hard to keep up when you're taking notes if you don't write in cursive or some form of shorthand.
I wonder why the Americans are taught cursive in the 3rd grade. In Germany we were taught from the 1st grade to write in cursive, so I didn't have such problems in 3rd grade, although my handwriting also didn't look very nice.
But as I see situation has changed, now as I'm 19 it seems that some children are taught to write in print letters first. And there is a little fight between the "Lateinische Ausgangsschrift" LA, which looks realy nice, but has many loops so that it could be difficult to write for the students, and the "Vereinfachte Ausgangsschrift" VA, which looks really ugly in my eyes, the only good thing in this is the little z. At last there is the "Schulausgangsschrift" SAS, which I learned.
My parents started teaching my some Chinese script when I was in 1st grade. This would have made sense if my family had anything to do with the Chinese.
We're your typical white Americans so I never really understood why I needed such a thing.
It's sad that cursive is dying simply because of the electronic revolution with computers and all that.
I noticed he holds the pencil as i did as a child, squeezing between the three fingers. This causes the hand to tire quickly. I hated doing homework because my hand would hurt. As I was almost through high school, I learned the correct way to hold a pen, with it resting between the nail and first knuckle of the middle finger. After learning this my writing improved and I didnt hate to do it.
Why are you making him write with his right hand? You can obviously tell that he is left handed......you should let him try---It may be alot easier for him... :)
Im not sure if I was a fast learner or watever but I figured out every thing peerty fast

A teacher in my school was writing down food options for our camping trip, and her cursive was sooooo bad.
“Pudding” looked like “puddles”, “brownies” looked like “frownies”, “fruit platter” looked like “fraud plaster”, “rice krispy squares” looked like “nice krap squash”...
It became increasingly hard to stifle my laughter.

Back when I was in elementary school we were forced to write in cursive or we'd get an "F" no matter what.
But when Jr. High came along we didn't have to, so pretty much nobody did because we hated it so much in elementary school.
BUT NOW I'm in high school and take a lot of notes, and I've found writing in cursive is quicker when you need to jot something down fast.

so true! learning how to write quickly in cursive helped me take notes much faster in college.
