shame they scrapped the wreck. when ships are lost like that, if they are in shallow waters they should be raised and towed to deaper waters and sunk again. anything can be raised. It just takes time and work. They raised the USS Maine for crying out loud.
Wow, great video, thanks. Grandad, Frank John (Jack) Good was a stoker on the HMS Hardy and survived it's grounding and subsequent sinking. He lost 2 and a half fingers and an eye though and if it wasn't for Gordon Avery, from Plymouth, he would never had made it to land as he was a typical London boy when it came to swimming!
.great videos..my dad was a pettiofficer on the hardy and survived,he helped save a few lives that day and got a heros welcome back in his hometown of carrickfergus he was only 20.he too was helped by the norwegians.i wish i knew of any living survivors of the hardy.
The Hardy was beached and the Hunter was sunk. My dad was a survivor from the Hunter, he is still alive today and is 90 years old. The Hardy was later towed out into the fyords deeper water.
My dad watched the 2nd battle from the hillside on the 13th April, while a prisoner.
thanks for the vid,my uncle was on the hood when it was sank he junped overboard and swan to shore he was taken in by some norwegen fishermen give him dry clothes and told him where to hide from the germans he made it home ok,but i can recall him telling me about a young man 19s old whom he saw killed as he jumped over.
