All statistical data shows that immigration (reguardless of legal status) is beneficial in the long term of a country, the immediate effects are not as positive as the long term, the greatest example is NYC, Miami, and the seventh largest economy in the world, California.
More than 140 military service members who were not U.S. citizens have died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Legal residents who are not citizens have long served in the U.S. military
When Lance Cpl. Jose Gutierrez, a 28 year-old Guatemalan orphan who came to Los Angeles in the mid-1990s, was killed on March 21, he became one of the first U.S. soldiers to die in combat in Iraq. Gutierrez, who had crossed the border illegally from Mexico at age 14 and later received legal resident status, went to high school and college in California. He joined the Marines in March 2002, because "he wanted to give back a little bit to his adopted country,"his foster mother, Nora Mosquera, said.
"While an illegal alien is subject to deportation, that person's ongoing presence in the United States in and of itself is not a crime, unless that person had been previously deported and regained illegal entry into this country."

Those American Heroes, gained entry to the USA undocumented, and some on here would of had them thrown from the USA calling them criminals. It is not a criminal offense to cross the border undocumented, it is not a criminal offense to be undocumented in the USA.
ok, so how many people should we allow in from the world? we already allow over a million legal immigrants each year to enter since the mid-80s. how high should we raise that to? 3 million? 10 million? there are over a billion poor people in the world, should we just let them all in?
The USA is the greatest country in the world, our economic needs have to be met, or jobs move overseas.
For every job that moves overseas the ripple effect can be up to 10.
The benefits of keeping Ford, Microsoft, US Farms, and others in the USA far outweigh any negative that we might incur from a Immigrant Population on our economy.
In order to call it an invasion, there has to be something that makes the new immigrants somehow not capable of integrating, when the truth is they integrate just fine if you give them more than a second.
You can't drop an ice cube on hot cement and walk away muttering to yourself it's never gonna melt.
They like to put labels on it. "Invasion" "Criminals" "Anchor Babies"
"It's an invasion!" is better than just saying "A lot of people who want to work for a living"
They need to hype it up with these labels because even to themselves they can't justify getting so angry about what it really is: just a bunch of people who want to work for a living.
Great, we wasted 11 million dollars and the supposed invasion amounted to 1.6 percent of all the crime committed in the county.
That's probably well below the percentage of the population that undocumented persons make up. So, basically the two premises on which we based the flushing down the toilet of 11 million dollars are both false:
1) we are being invaded
2) Hispanic people are all criminals.
Is there an impeachment proceeding for Corey "Blowhard" Stewart, Chairman of the Board?
Wow, it looks like that county really shot themselves in the foot. I'd never want to live there.

Let's not forget Rafael Peralta. He entered the US illegally. As a marine in Iraq he fell on a grenade to save his friends.

So the USA needs a dynamic number that is not made up by Bureaucrats but by the demands of the US market. There is no magic number.
We should focus on the process first and then focus on the number. The process is a broken one.
