Make every car, gas or electric in China as then we can afford one of the two types available. Unions causes prices in American products to be too expensive. But made in China, then automobiles would be more affordable with out over paid union workers.
THIS IS NORMAL HUMAN REACTION TO A NEW PRODUCT......Except that it's NOT a new product....Electric cars were on the road BEFORE gasoline cars 100 years ago....When gasoline cars first came out they were also rejected by people who said that the noise scared the horses off......ELECTRIC CARS ARE HERE TO STAY......Gasoline will be 4 dollars per gallon this year, and 5 dollars very soon....KEEP THIS AND PROVE ME WRONG.
i wouldnt buy a electric car its expensive and too charge the battery thats takes 8 hours and when the electric bill comes that gonna go sky high electric car it like driving a golf cart and it is lame just because the gasoline goes high but they might lower the gas price hopefully next year its not worth buying a electric car that goes 40 miles you cant travel with a electric car only gas car can i stick with gas car

@Violatorman NOT FOR LONG VIOLATOR MAN....Gasoline cars will soon be dinosaurs, as the fuel they use.....Gas prices will reach 4 dollars soon, and 5 dollars per gallon within 3 years.....
@sierracuban true but electric cars wont last that long either and we still gonna have gasoline but not the regular one we using we might be using clean diesel or natural gas and the reason i dont like electric cars is it doesnt got a engine and tale pipe also it very quiet.
@Violatorman WHY DO YOU WANT TO MAKE NOISE FROM A TAILPIPE AND WAKE UP YOUR NEIGHBORS ???? You sound like such a nice person....There seems to be a type of HATRED growing out there towards people like me who LOVE the idea of electric cars....My dear friend, as a child and as a teenager I grew up working in my dad's gasoline station in California....That started in 1964 when regular sold for 23 cents per gallon.....GET OVER IT....THE WORLD IS CHANGING......GO ELECTRIC ! !
@sierracuban thank you i am a very nice person but you gotta understand electric cars is not going too solve our problems you still gonna have problems with electric car just like gas car
@Violatorman OK DUDE.....But just don't give the drivers of electric cars any dirty looks as you see more and more electric cars in the next few years......Eventually, all cars will be electric as gasoline goes from 3 to 4 to 5 to 6 dollars per gallon and even higher.....Mark my words....Have a great day out there.....
@sierracuban lol naw but too many people wont buy electric cars i chat alot of people about that they say they rather stay with gas car i said cool me too but you love electric car thats you my friend.
Electric cars are too expensive. It takes less materials and labor to make an electric car over conventional gasoline cars. The only reason they cost so much is because the oil companies force the auto industry to jack up prices. The oil companies don't want anyone to have an electric vehicle. That's why the EV1s were scrapped. Oil companies also do not want people driving around in 100mpg cars. The technology already exists for 100mpg cars but it will never be implemented by the auto industry.
The idea that every carmaker must go electric is erroneous. There are other means to reduce fuel consumption. Not to mention commercial vehicles that use much more energy. Who is doing anything about that?
Why don't you actually do some research first? How much did computers cost when they first came out? Do you understand what innovation and mass production can do for product quality and price? Considering the first real electric car brought to market will cost only $40K, I think that's extremely promising. In 10 years that'll be $20K.
Regarding breaking down when your battery "wears out", well the new serial hybrids have a small gasoline generator that kicks in when the battery runs out so you'll never get stranded. Even with this they can still get 100 mpg.
And the reason these cars are expensive is because they use expensive Lithium ion batteries. The cheaper alternative is NiMH batteries, but the patent on these was sold to Chevron over 10 years ago and predictably, Chevron won't let anyone make an electric car with them.
What you fail to realize is the auto manufacturers are under alot of duress and lack of proper resources thanks to government and the Unions.
So piss on all of 'em. The only time anything gets done right is when someone takes power into their own hands. That's why there's Tesla, Wrightspeed, AC Propulsion tzero to name a few that actually make decent electric vehicles. And these are funded by people who are fed up with the crap that gets flung at us.
Solar panels on a car are not worth it, it would take days to recharge from them. In sunny weather. And also, the 40k or so price is due to current battery limitations, over time the price will come down, and more will be able to afford it. The car companies HAVE gas cars, these are an addition that over time will hopefully offer a replacement as we move away from fossil fuels.
this must be the dumbest thing ive heard she knows nothing about cars ya its a bit pricey now but first off i think ud save god knows how much money on fuel the car would pay for it self and then on top of it..."the battery brakes down then your stuck" and what happens with a normal car when the battery dies you still gotta pay for repairs
I strongly disagree with your statement. These EV cars are more expensive because there aren't many on the road. What people like you forget: flat screen LCD/Plasma TV's, DVD players, cell phones were very expensive in the beginning.
It took me 8 years to afford a LCD TV. Now everyone just about has one. I remember people said "oh there expensive!" That all changed when the consumer like what they see. EV's will eventually come down in price. Keeping the status quo won't help us at all.
this is not to be disrespectful but it sounds like you have not done your history on the electric car. Like the ev1 they brought out back in 94 and then for some reason took it back from the people that leased them . The same people that were ready to buy the cars out right. But the three big took them any way and killed them. If you look up the screen name liveoilfree you could learn how far we have come and why it would be so much better if the big 3 would get off there snopish asses.
I'm subscribe to that liveoilfree. Some people just refuse to listen and don't educate themselves on these EV cars. Maybe if they drove an EV once in their life they would get a whole new perspective.
The reason cars are not cheaper is because the unions are sucking the automakers dry. Also, solar panels are nearly worthless for cars. Even if you cover the entire surface of a car with solar panels, you will get only around 100 watts. Moderate acceleration uses around 25,000 watts. An electric car would have to sit in the sun for weeks to charge its battery with solar power.
China has the right idea, the BYD F3DM has the same basic concept of the Volt and its at 21,000. So China can pull this off but the big 3 can't?
As far as the batter going dead and being suck with nowhere to plug, I'm for the range extention engine that can give you 300 to 400 miles on a few gallons of gas.. But none of this matter if they can't get the price down. 40 grand for a Volt, that's just too much or a car that' has not yet been proven to even work.
Hope the BYD F3DM will be sold to the public. $22,000. There is no other PHEV or EREV being produced anywhere. No more Renault Kangoo's being made. No more plugin Sprinter Vans. Chrysler's prototype ENVI cars go fast. Sell them. GM's Volt isn't even a working prototype above their 10 miles an hour show car. Volt is estimated to cost more than $40,000. Ford any new ideas? Don't buy a new car until they offer a plug!
