since u can play GBA games on the DS WHY NOT GET THE GBA VERSION OF DOOM INSTEAD OF DOWNLOADING IT

Because dsdoom is based off of PRBOOM which has a lot more features than that crappy GBA doom. Custom wad support, full custom key bindings and it's simply the original Doom not the shitty arcade/old console version of the levels. Another advantage is resolution, The resolution on the nintendo ds is bigger than the GBA one. So why play this over the GBA? Simply put, it's the original doom with a shit ton of features that the GBA doesn't have.

@FANADICALCOWHEAD well of course the GBA version of DOOM was crappy but if u tried DOOM2 on GBA improvement came by so instead of doom 1 u would rather get doom 2 for GBA cuz theirs bosses and better music like the PC version

I own both of the GBA doom's but they don't even come close to DsDoom. And the music in the GBA port is no where near the quality same quality of the pc port, Sure the levels were a bit better in the second version but there was still so much holding it back from being great. The only handicap that dsdoom has, is the inability to play midi music but that's a Nintendo DS problem. You can't go wrong with dsdoom, it's not only a superior port to the GBA. it's free to download!

their was also an unknown port of DOOM for the amiga

It doesn't matter if it's retail or homebrew it's still a port non the less and the fact that dsdoom is based off of a powerful doom port (PRBOOM) makes it even better to play with. If your only argument for liking GBA Doom2 over dsdoom is strictly based on music. (Which you're entitled to your opinion, mind you the music isn't exactly great ) And also, dsdoom isn't complete, if ever a midi compatibility code were to be created you'd have no reason to pick GBA Doom over DsDoom.

Ok but, the nintendo ds doesn't supoort midi music.Yes it does support music but it only supports converted music. I'm not sure what nintendo uses. But I'm totally cool in dropping the arguement. But I would encourage you to check out my channel, I have a neat dsdoom mod that I'm making called (DsDoom3) it might just give you a reason to play dsdoom ;)

I don't know what to do. I've placed the WADs everywhere, I made sure the Doom DS file was patched, and I still can't get it to work. It asks me for standard or network then ALWAYS goes black, as if the DS Lite shut off but the green light's still on. Other games work fine, like the SNES Emulator and Quake. What am I doing wrong?

dont worry about it i had the same trouble so i will tell you something i forgot to mension dont use v1.1.0 got to the official dsdoom site and get v1.1.1 not v1.1.2 and make sure that you have the following installed on your computer(dldi patcher,gmtf.DLDI, and winrar)there all down loadable and also v1.1.0 comes with doom.wad already there you should use that first and then if you have a diffirent wad then you can use it

It's a port of the PC Doom, because it's open source, none of the console versions are open source, so they can't be ported.

No, it's a game in itself, it is Doom for the DS, it only plays Doom.

Well, the GnM is fully supported now that it has DLDI, and you can play Quake, Doom, and Wolfenstein 3d ports, NES, SNES, Genesis, GB, GBC, and many other things on it.

It does not need its own folder, all the files must be on the root of the card, as shown in the video. If you put the files in a different folder, it won't work.

Then both versions of the DLDI should work...make sure you're using the version of DS DOOM that I showed. If the files aren't showing up on the GnM menu (as in not there at all), reformat your microSD (erases everything) and then put the files back on it.

It doesn't matter if you have DS or Lite, if you're using a microSD other than the one that came with your Games n' Music, try the first version of the DLDI patch. By Assets I'm referring to game content (which is the .wad file) containing characters, maps, sounds, etc and is licensed by id Software, so I used the shareware version.

You can't open anything with MoonShell on the Games n' Music (other than nesDS for some reason that works). Try booting it from the Games n' Music menu.

Homebrew doesn't void your warranty. Only stuff that goes INSIDE the console (like modchips, drivechips, etc) voids warranty. The GnM (Games n' Music) is just a cartridge with a microSD card slot, you can buy it at Best Buy or online, and it comes with everything you need, cartridge, microSD 128MB, and USB adapter.
