Hawes is so reserved on he piano and doesn't take it too far, He lets the musicians play whilist letting them know he's the commander. Hawes was absolute top class.

One of the greatest jazz videos I've seen. Everything about it is high quality & high level. We're watching & hearing some really great great legendary jazz musicians at their best - Hawes, Edison, Criss, Vinnegar, & Edwards. It surprises me that its Bobby Thomspon on drums because on all the Hampton Hawes albums he plays subtly just with brushes & here he's using sticks & really playing those drums! Great great video. Thanks for uploading it!
