Question about the shotgun jumping.

How the heck do I get it so when I shoot the spas it doesn't automatically kill in one shot?

I can set it at double health with no attachments and lightweight instead of stopping power, then be twice as far away as them on Quarry and fire from the hip at their legs and still kill them in one shot.
