Jagged85, where do you get this information from? I read plenty of books that discuss the history of science. Believe me, most scholars do not believe what you claim.
If that's the case, then I am sure the scholars you are referring to have not studied Arabic science in any depth. Reputable scholars who have actually studied Arabic science, including Robert Briffault, Oliver Lodge, Will Durant, Fielding Garrison, Alexander von Humboldt, Muhammad Iqbal, Abdus Salam, and even the father of the history of science himself, George Sarton, most certainly agree with many of the facts I have just stated.
I am actually doing my own research on this right now. (I have been for a very long time). It is not as if I am trying extra hard to only go after Eurocentric sources. Oh no, I am going after sources that are right in front of me (that the average person comes across). And so far, whether it is online sources, Encyclopedias, or curriculums for classes taught at Universities,, or hard backs in the library, I am finding how much your viewpoint on history is very much in the minority.
General encyclopedias or school/college textbooks are not reliable authorities on the subject. You should read peer-reviewed journals and publications (that actually cover Arabic science) for my information on the subject.
Numerous reputable Western historians (for example, the ones I've already listed above) have already accepted the fact that experimental science is a Muslim invention, not a Greek or European invention. This view is accepted by the majority of scholars who have actually studied Arabic science.
This is my point. People who study any sort of ethnic science are always trying to be more PC than factual. People who study the history of science just for the sake of studying it come out saying that 75% of science came out of the West.
Where did you get that percentage from? Did you just make it up? Like I said before, the only reason your Eurocentric view still persists is because there has been far more research on Western science. There are still millions of unread scientific Arabic manuscripts in collections across the world, and the vast majority of these Arabic texts have not been published or even read.
The other reason is of course censorship. Many school and college textbooks continue to ignore the Islamic civilization, and even ignore the Middle Ages altogether. The same goes for the Chinese and Indians.
And for your information, none of the Western historians I've mentioned are "ethnic science" researchers. They are reputable historians of general science. In fact, George Sarton is the father of the history of science itself. He dedicated a significant portion of his masterpiece to Muslim contributions, and yet some people still try to censor these contributions.

Science was not invented by the Greeks. Many modern scholars now agree that modern science as we know it originated from the Muslims, not the Greeks or the Europeans. This is obvious from the fact that the scientific method was pioneered by Muslim scientists.

I have seen many of these conspriracy vidoes and it BULL! They claim it was explosives but that would take months and several large crews to make a controlled collapse. What happen is the plain ruined the structural intergretiy and the reason it looked like explosions is because of the force of the building collasping blew the windows out of the lower stories. im not from a diff world very few people fall for that BS

Anyway you slice it, the scientific contributions of the West far outweigh anything Islam has produced. Sure, they carried the torch once, but they dropped it in favor of religious fundamentalist. At least Western scientists were pioneering in divorcing science from religion, which these ancient Muslim scientists would never think to do. Science in the service of religion is stunted and held back.

The only reason your Eurocentric view is still fairly popular is because has been far more research done on Western science. Most Greek and Latin manuscripts are widely available in many libraries, but there are still millions of unread scientific Arabic manuscripts in collections across the world, and only a tiny percentage of these Arabic texts have been published.

The seperation between reason and revelation is attributed to Averroes. This was not much of an issue for polytheistic religions (like the Greeks or Hindus), but something unique to revealed religions (like the Abrahamic religions).
Either way, there's nothing particularly wrong with science in the service of religion to begin with. It never stopped the medieval Muslims or the Renaissance Christians from making some of the most significant advances in science.

If that's the case, then I am sure the scholars you are referring to have not studied Arabic science in any depth. Reputable scholars who have actually studied Arabic science, including Robert Briffault, Oliver Lodge, Will Durant, Fielding Garrison, Alexander von Humboldt, Muhammad Iqbal, Abdus Salam, and even the father of the history of science himself, George Sarton, most certainly agree with many of the facts I have just stated.

I am actually doing my own research on this right now. (I have been for a very long time). It is not as if I am trying extra hard to only go after Eurocentric sources. Oh no, I am going after sources that are right in front of me (that the average person comes across). And so far, whether it is online sources, Encyclopedias, or curriculums for classes taught at Universities,, or hard backs in the library, I am finding how much your viewpoint on history is very much in the minority.

I would like to see the whole video. What exactly is arab science? The Europeans were basically relearning what was already theirs (science invented by Greece). Europeans after the Renaissance did more with it than anybody, which shows that science was rightfully Europe's to begin with.

The scientific method was pioneered by Ibn al-Haytham, the first steam turbine was invented by Taqi al-Din, the first scientific attempt at avaiation was made by Abbas ibn Firnas, the first rocket aircraft was invented by Lagari Hasan Celebi, etc.

I realize you guys are upset, as your glory days were short-lived and long over. But you can ask yourself this: Why is that Muslims are flocking in droves to live in Western Europe, America and elsewhere to bask in prosperity and high standard of living, and not vice versa?

"dominate the world"? That's how totalitarian miltarists talk. I thought you guys were the "Religion of Peace". The great Caliphs of Baghdad and the rulers of Moorish Spain were practical men, first and foremost. They understood the value of a secular society, freedom of worship and the dangers of fundie thinking. This applies to ALL religion, not just Islam.
Humans chafe under theocracy. Such entities, like all totalitarian states, collapse. Liberty is the only thing worth living for.

So name only one invention made by Muslims alone, which they did not copy from the greeks and the romans. I am listening... . Just look what we "barbarians" invented from the 12th century until now: Medicine, engeneering, chemistry, physics, and applications like modern navigation, the car, the airplane, antibiotics, surgery, nuclear power, solar power and so on. The list is just too damn long.
