The Chamber choir sang this during the Concert and it almost made me break out into tears... my aunt died and we tried to convince my cousin to move in with us but she says " no because i wont be able to see my mommy anymore..."
I don't think it's intended to be depressing, I think it's meant to be saying "I'm still with you, even though I'm not physically there". Which explains the "i am the gentle autumn rain" etc. I think the message is "I'm with you everywhere".
I absolutely loved this version. Not so much Tom's. He did a great job though, but it's just not as magical as ben and Joe's. It feels like a caress to the soul.
the way they made this video is so eerie... The singers are as ghosts telling people not to weep at their graves... that's really creepy. (The song itself is beautiful, though :) )
I had to sing this during my final choir concert last year. It was incredibly beautiful, but still, not nearly as beautiful as in this performance of it. It sounds even better when it's only two tenors performing the piece, as opposed to a whole choir. Awesome vid, it brought back many memories.
Do you happen to have this song in mp3 format? I'm trying to look everywhere for it and I don't want to buy it, if you could send me a link to where you got it or maybe email me the file that would be great.

Libera and Joyce's arrangements of Frye's poem are the best by far.

i find it very very depressing. People who are not at the verge of letting go will only feel more upset when they hear this song.

Tom's version is better. Look at 'Libera in Concert" and look at his face that express the song, much better!

I found this a bit depressing - isn't the poem supposed to provide comfort for the bereaved?

The version written by Farnell is so much more moving.

At 0:42-ish I can imagine angels inveloping the world with their wings and everything was silent. World peace was then achieved.

My mum had this poem for my gran's funeral and I cry because every time I remember how sad she looked and had to hold my sister's hand.

This is a beautiful version of 'Do Not Stand..' by Ben and Joe P, but check out Tom and Ed's version on the current DVD. It's a special moment.
