  • Good stuff!

  • I will always love this music this particular teeth in the back everett

    best jazz

  • Lyle Mays, c'est la Grande Classe à létat pure!!!

  • don't ever miss a chance to see Pat live! i was ten feet away at Jazz Alley in Seattle when he cut loose with the guitar synthesizer with about 10 of the Orchestrion boxes going behind him, and Larry Grenadier on bass. i'll never be the same! he played the Manzer "picasso" guitar for the encore. thanks a million for posting this!

  • btw, It's Paul Wertico on drums.

  • Lyle Mays piano solo is fantastic!!!!!!

  • @kikibetao Piano emoçion!!!The Master! Le grand frisson!!!

  • @kikibetao Ce gars là est Incroyable!!! Fantastique! UNIQUE!!!

  • Absolutely unmistakeable! I like Rodby, too!

  • LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! Unbelievable! Even like it better than the studio album version. But why did it cut off so suddenly?

  • I remember attending 1 of his concerts here in Norfolk, VA. He began playing @ 8:20 till 11:10 and came back for an encore for another 15 minutes !!! What an awesome experience of his musicianship. !!!!! A lasting impression.

  • Hypnotizing!!! I have never - in my lifetime - seen a group of musicians who have captivated me in such a way that even though I am watching this video, I feel as if I am there!

  • What's NOT to like about Pat Metheny? He is the king of jazz fusion and guitar solos. Lyle Mays is probably my new favorite keys player. Even the singers are ownage. SICKKKKKKKK.

  • Never knew this sounded existed outside my head, when I discovered it did, I discovered the world was larger than I could obviously imagine, been imagining ever since... Saw them in concert in the early 90's...amazing, awesome!

  • =) thank you...few understand where they are at. In times such as these. It's nice to meet a kindred soul ....erick

  • So superb !!

  • R.I.P Mark Ledford

  • after these solos, my glycemic index goes up !!!!

  • This is mind-blowing and beautiful! Cheers for the upload.

  • Tremendo tema.

  • Truly the consumate PMG song with the lineup at that time. Saw it in New Brunswick NJ when the tour stopped in. I had loved it on the recording and the live version with the superb lighting was outrageous.

  • This piece will turn non-jazz lovers into new fans. The talent oozes out of each note.I look foward to this cut to be an epic score in a block buster film.

  • Jodi....You are amazing

  • Sound is amazing

  • I was fortunate enough to see PMG in a small concert setting in Jackson Oregon circa 1995). What an awesome show! This cut really took the crowd! And yeah, Lyle nearly stole the show, but the bassist (Paul Wertico I believe) was equally impressive. But it is Pat's show after all... Another good number is The Return.

  • @robertrlude Paul Wertico was their drummer. Steve Rodby is the bassist.

  • Musik pengantar hidup

  • Lyle's solo is sublime . What a great rendition

  • Dear God:

I am so totally depressed after learning that the amazing Mark Ledford died of a heart attack in 2004. I remember meeting Mark well over a decade ago when he was working w/Phyllis Hyman. That was the last time I saw him or Phyllis alive! RIP!!!

  • totally awesome metheny /mays there is no better

    I just love that thunderclap

  • Geat song! The Pat's talent is extraordinary. He really makes the guitar sounds like another voice. What CD includes this track?

    Klaurent, thanks for sharing. Mar

  • It's off the CD "We Live Here" (track 4)

  • I don't need need yoga Im in this space..PMG inplant. But thank you.

    Regards, Tony

  • When I t. each studio cycling, I use this to set a groove. 9 solid min @ 100 rpm...It blows their doors off and the texture and emotion they encounter as they listen really opens my students. If I could, I would teach yoga to PMG. So free...So free

  • Time go's by, things change.thank god this cool sound will allways stay the same. PMG@best.

  • Metheny à son meilleur! Bravo Pat!

  • Saw this live in NJ many years ago. To me this is PMG at their best. Truly remarkable musicians.

  • kick ass. no further comment.

  • Layers upon layers of musical genious

  • his guitar looks like frank gambales guitar, the yamaha

  • these guys should be nominated for an oscar ..pure class only surfaces rarely..

  • Their talent level is far superior for a measly oscar, u cant give an award for something of their magnitude

  • ...they currently have 11 Grammys

  • Pat was w/ D. Bowie

  • este cabron acaba de ganarse un nuevo fan, que tecnica!!!! que limpieza!!!! esta muy cabron...

  • Great song.....

  • I have listened to this song hundreds of times. I never tire of it! This is by far my favorite piece of music EVER!!!!

  • This is definitely the most awesome metheny song. It's like... epic, man. Just BRILLIANT. The perfection of the composition is just.. Inspired. I'll never tire of this song!

  • I have this tour on DVD. It's a shame live performances are so subdue because of the atmosphere/environment which is why I prefer studio releases becuase you can hear every nuance of the instruments. I like the improv on this though but you just can't hear it very well.

  • Metheny's solo towards the end is so chilling. One of the best solos I've ever seen in my life. He's so lost in it.

  • I can see your point. I have many of their DVD's as well, but I have also been to numerous PMG concerts. When you're there in-person, it sounds AWESOME. For some reason, the DVD's of those same concerts don't come out as good. BTW, I'm in the DVD in the audience at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga for the Imaginary Day DVD. :)

  • @smitty195 :Cool man! I have that DVD as well! Are you in the front row, or anywhere visible on the DVD?

  • @dubskillz8: You can see me on and off throughout the whole concert. I am to Pat's left (that would be to the right if you are sitting in the main seats in the audience). It's those seats that are built up into the hillside. I'm in the front row of those seats in a white shirt. :)

  • Okay, I'll put it on later and look! You were HIGHLY privileged to be there! I love that concert! The Pikasso guitar sounds amazing live, doesn't it? And "The Heat Of The Day" is my favorite track from the album, and it just got better live! You guys got blessed that night for sure my friend!

  • the best song EVER!

  • I agree with you. What an incredible piece of music. Few pieces show case musicianship like this one. The background rythems are just amazing as the lead.

  • @weelowman you might have a point there bub

  • is it a requirement for all members of the group to have Pat's hairstyle? Lyle Mays and Steave Rodby both have long and kinda wild hair

  • pat is god

  • just amazing!!!! thank you pat for your music.....

  • I first heard this song when my oldest daughter treated me to his concert in San Francisco. I was lulled to sleep by the beauty of the melody and his making love to his guitar. As I was just about to enter rem state, I was startled by the thunder clap. It was my first experience at a Metheny concert. On my way home, we stopped by a music store and I spent $100 on Metheny music. I'm now addicted. Lyle Mays has got to be one of the finest pianist in the world. This is one of Pat's finest.

  • Just got this DVD. When the heck is Pat Metheny gooing to get The Pat Metheny Group back together? It's been way too long now. His trio is good but nothing compares to his group. I wonder how much longer it's going to be untill The Pat Metheny Group tours once again?

  • I'm Republican and have listened to the guys for years. If it's good, I'm in. If it's crap I'm not interested. The issue is not Republican or Democratic, it's that we don't do much very good anymore. These guys still do. We need to forget about "liberal" and "conservative" and refocus on what made us great. Hard work and a commitment to family. 50 years ago we lived to raise productive children, now we live for ourselves. I don't think liberal values are going to change that.

  • I wouldn't think most republicans would be into jazz. Jazz is so inclusive of so many types, styles, colors, flavors and cultures. I would thinki republicans are very narrow in the there acceptance of anything other than what comes out of the good old USA.

  • who gives a shit about politics just listen to this increbile music

  • Absolute perfection. I've been a PMG fan for about 25 years now. Incredible stuff. The only bummer is that he is a big liberal Obama supporter. How can someone so smart and talented be so dumb when it comes to politics?

  • ^^^ [FAIL]

  • Really? So, when you hear Pat Methany playing some of the best guitar in the world, you think of John McCain? That's interesting. I don't think a Republican could write this music. They're too angry all of the time.

  • What on earth are you talking about??? John McCain and guitar? Republicans can't write music? Holy smokes....take a chill pill there dude.

  • Well, your reaction almost proves my point. But look, I didn't mean to insult you or get you mad. I was just looking through the comments section on a couple of his videos because I'm trying to find out the name of a song of his from way back. You looked promising being a fan for 25 years, but when I saw the end of your comment I had to laugh. It was a non-sequiter. How does his vote affect his playing or our appreciation of it? It's artiists like Pat that give me hope. Not any party or politico

  • I would definitely agree with you.

Warmongers and war profiteers cannot compose such beautiful imagery. It doesn't make sense that a Republican would be capable of appreciating such music.

  • Pat knows a lot about politics, he's anything but dumb, as I've had a chance to talk to him on a few occasions. A big "liberal Obama supporter" is anything but dumb in politics.

  • you don't have the minimum idea about music, you use music to make politic propaganda you are a slave of your silly mind barriers... believe me, when pat composed this song he didn't think about democratic or republicans...

  • I never claimed that he did.

One thing I cannot stand, is when people accuse me of saying things I never said.

You are completely misrepresenting me, here.

  • the real sense of my comment is "get out the politic from music" ... very clear and very simple

  • I wasn't the one who started talking about politics here. If you have to accuse me, you ought to do your research far deeper and also send messages to the ones who initially started tossing politics into music, which I find very un-necessary as well.

  • in this case transfer to him my message and i give you my apologize ... politic it's like a cancer and music it's so far from it ...

  • Beautiful journey to the end of the world from no one else but Pat....who could intrepret it better other than Jesus Himself! Simply awesome and pure genius!

  • jesus... ?

  • Yeah man...Jesus....I know, I know alot of people still don't believe in Him but I do. Being a Christian is my main musical vice and where I get my creative "flow" from. With the way Pat plays, he must tap into seeing or hearing some kind of "heavenly" influence in some way. Pat is a genius!

  • Pat is The Man!,,I remember the first time I heard a Pat Metheney record in college.A buddy of mine put a Pat Metheney Album on and man from then on I was a hard core fan!

  • Thank You Pat Metheny

Uwielbiam ten utworek i "To the end...".i "Are You..."

    KOCHAM TE MUZYKE!!!!

  • pat does something weird right near the end of the solo, sounds like he's playing a semitone out - which is uncharacteristic of him.

  • no he doesn't

  • I didn't mean he makes a mistake

  • neither does he play a semitone out

  • where in the video do you mean? could you point out the exact timing (minute:second) plz?

  • @samsam2307 8.46, but i listen back a year later and i think it kind of sounds cool even though its not 'in'

  • one of the greatest songs EVER PERIOD! It takes u on a nice journey then the eruption, masterful, my fave

  • This song expresses an economic bubble better then anything I've ever heard. I loved it in the tech bubble and the real estate bubble.

  • what did you just smoke, Mr Male Pattern Baldness?

  • Ha! One too many gin and tonics accually.

  • I think your on to something actually! An astute observation, and one I hadn't even thought of, though I have listened to the song at least a 100 times! The beginning in rationality, then the accumulation of excitement and ecstatic frenzy, Pat carrying it far over the top, until you wonder where it can go from here and then...CRASH! Then the absolutely beautiful attempt to rebuid from the basics, beginning again with rationality and restraint. You should be a critic! Very astute!

  • Thanks for the validation!

  • Hello' Pat .. the best...

  • Awesome song and video! Thank you Pat Metheny.

  • Great Clip..Thanks

Always nice to hear a "cabasa" pushing the groove..

I need a holiday.. I meant "SHAKER" pushing the groove..

  • 3:10 best piano solo in jazz

  • the true name for The song!

  • wow !!! Lyle Mays................

  • Saw this tour @ an outdoor venue, on a blanket on the lawn, with a picnic basket, a bottle of wine & a full moon. I have never had a better date/evening in my life!!! Metheny on guitar, Mays on Keys/syn, David Blaimires on voice.

it doesn't get any better than that!

  • THE BEST MUSIC

    EXCELLENT!!!

    5*****

  • le début me fait penser à gran turismo...

  • fantastik

  • One of my favourite piano solos, both on tape and live. The song fits Mays's fine tuned touch perfectly. Saw the concert in Seattle in 1995. Wish I were there...

  • Great Clip..Thanks

Always nice to hear a cabasa pushing the groove..
