Nei territori annessi, costituenti il Governatorato della Dalmazia, fu avviata una politica di italianizzazione forzata del territorio e della popolazione.

L'Italia ottenne solo parte di ciò che le era stato promesso a Londra: in base alla dottrina Wilson, le fu infatti negata la Dalmazia (dove ottenne solo la città di Zara e alcune isole).
Cartina della Dalmazia e della Venezia Giulia coi confini previsti dal Trattato di Londra e quelli invece effettivamente ottenuti dall'Italia.

I territori annessi erano abitati da circa 480.000 slavi (sloveni e croati).
Nel 1919-20 (il "biennio rosso"), l'Italia fu attraversata da un'ondata di tensioni sociali, che coinvolsero anche la Venezia Giulia, dove scoppiarono proteste e agitazioni.

Subito dopo la guerrà con il rientro dell'esercito tedesco iniziarono le prime manovre che portarono all'eccidio delle Foibe di italiani anche innocenti tanto era l'odio accumulato negli anni.

Without hungarian protection till 1527, and habsburg protection afterwards you'll be conqured by ottomans already in 15th century.

@jebac227 Check also in books how croatians alone fought only one single battle against Turks, that was in 1493 on Krbava field when you were annhilated by Turks, after that everytime hungarian troops were the most of army which fought against Ottomans and you were only part of some auxiliary units. For example in 1593 during a Battle of Sisak most of troops were austrians and slovenes even without any croatian auxiliary help.
