I fucking love these maxima but the transmission cant take the power of the motor.. Plus i got a 98 5 speed and just an intake on it makes the engine sounds like its been highly moded but quick question to all nissan maxima fans what can i do to keep this car running beatiful and i can beat on her ounce in a while

I own a 98 Max also, but it's completely stock and automatic. I'm waiting to find a 99' Fully loaded maxima with low mileage somewhere out of New York driven by an old grandma. Once I find that, I'll buy it and hook it up.

and obviously it will be a 5 speed.

wish you luck man. I just found mine a few months ago. late 1998 max 5spd bodykit, leather, paint...........and guess whats wrong? Motor was beat up so bad I'm putting a new one in this week. a 60k from a 1997. And the trans was replaced and the wiring is from a different car and its a pain in the ass. so, my point is if you want a dependable '"grandma" maxima, its gonna be automatic. If you want a 5spd that mabey has something with it, be prepared for headaches.

@xxFairladyZxx I got my new max like 4 months ago.. 99 SE, very clean, 5 speed, 104k miles, bone stock, nothing wrong with it mechanically, it was a well taken care of car. although now I gotta replace the knock sensor, o2 sensor and a few other minor things.

but yeah.. I ended up keepin my word and buying my dream max :p
