Didn't Steve Davis or Dennis Taylor go to the funeral? His daughter is really pretty. RIP Alex, excellent player-I watched you with my Dad when I was little! :-)))
Having come across this video it made me shivering inside. Alex Higgins had been a legend at lifetimes, nowadays, he is worth to remembering whenever and wherever snooker is played.
Alex will always be remembered on and off the table as one one of , if not the, most naturally talented players to ever grace the game, he was the Ronnie o sullivan of his day. They happen to be two players who were a generation apart but were so similar in many ways. Ronnie o Sullivan is my favourite player today but Alex has his own place in my memories and heart. I would have LOVED to see them play each other........Anyway, R.I.P. Hurricane, The Peoples Champion!!!
wiggy white mentioned that alex did not do the right things about his health?? white is an asshole 2 faced imbecile!! he smokes like a chimney and had a ball removed from his bag!!(testicular cancer!) and drinks like a fish!! what a real hypocrite!!.. and wiggys father was a lout !!
@vinnothelizard you are a sad bitter, jealous boy. jimmy was just saying how sad it is that higgy beat cancer then died through malnutrition. you don't get testicular cancer from smoking or drinking....so hypocrite? why? if your intention was to comment and look like a fool well done, you did it!
There must have been enough money between all you professional snooker players to make is life better in his latter years, R.I.P. Alex. Best night ever Salford Rugby Club.
Rip alex you was the best. there should have been more snooker players at the funeral even davis did not show up even there had there dislike for eachother as players
Alex in his youth would have made a fool of todays players. Heavier balls, tight pockets, at least some have the courage to admit without Alex they would have no living. RIP my friend. Finally no one can stab you in the back anymore and you can have a drink with your friends Dougie Perry and Ollie Reed up above.
Nobody has ever said Alex was perfect, far from it. However I was friends with him through the 90's and even if he was difficult he was always the greatest snooker player ever born, He never practised, played from memory and still could beat anyone. There were demons in his head but he nearly beat them. All said I have seen sad bastards trying on threads trying to bring religion into this now. Alex never gave out to me for being Catholic, far from it. If people really knew him so much different.
Anlorgain, in death comes forgiveness, no Alex wasn't perfect, but he was an exceptional man surround by exceptional circumstances that he simply didn't manage as well as others who are thrown into fame and fortune at the age of 22 when he became the youngest world champion at that time. He was a talent only ever equaled buy one man, Ronnie O'Sullivan, and both extrodinary guys have had there moments. However, this fitting uploaded tribute is about celebrating the talent he was and the man on t
Right, let get things straight, a lot of you are saying he was a wonderful snooker play and a great guy, he wasn't a great guy, ask his long suffering ex wife, he beat her. Ask the people who paid good money to go see him play and suffered insults from him, ask the people he hit with a snooker clue, a broken glass, a bottle or an ashtray.
He came from the Sandy Row, an area of Belfast famous for their hate of catholics, verbal attacks on Denis Taylor, Bishop Daly and John Higgins.
