  • And you're dead ...... Camera wash up on shore and the person that found it posted it. Rest in peace or in pieces.

  • XD did the cuttlefish press a button or something?

  • When the cuttlefish raises its two tentacles like that, it is a defensive mechanism saying its ready to attack! Just like us humans raising our hands in front of us when we want somebody to stop.

  • DUDE, YOU TWO MAKE MY LIST OF THE TOP TEN DUMBEST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER SEEN MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT THE OCEAN. When a cuttlefish raises his arms like that, he's mad, and ready 2 attack. BTW, you guys are #7 in my top 10 of youtube's funniest.

  • ok your correct girldiver245 but there are also good dive stories on the web too... try the myscubastory site.. type myscubastory into google and its the first one ... enjoy

  • Oh lookie! It's putting its front two tentacles out, which is the universal sign for a defensive threat in almost all marine animals! Let's poke it!

  • And that children, is how Mindflayers came to be.

  • ......owned

  • so thats where the cuttlebone in my parakeets cage coems from XD

  • That thing looked like a chest burster - why would you keep intruding on it? Let the poor thing be. Chances are it will be dead and it's carcas hanging in a budgie cage before long! Eh...still...entertaining!

  • its DAVY jones

  • Oh god!

  • lol, hissss hissss back off mere mortal ';,,;'

  • I've always wanted to dive with cuttlefish. I can see why you stalked it, I mean, you need to get close enough to see them. If you go Scuba diving again and take an interest in a cephelopod, keep a flashlight handy and keep it at the end of a line. When you turn it on, chances are, the cuttlefish will take an interest in it. If your nervous however, I'd recommend lodging it down so that way it don't lunge at your hand, make sure that line is strong so the little guy don't take your light :P

  • Where is the rest of the video? oh The diver screamed like a little girl and dropped the camera!

  • @winemethendineme69me They just ripped off the end of the Blair Witch Project

  • yummy

  • I wouldn't want to "cuttle" with that fish XD

  • Cuttlefish: Go away....

    GO AWAY...

Dude, I'm not kidding, get away from me.

... Are you stupid or something?

    ...

GET OUT OF MY FACE! YOU WANNA GO?!

    *Film ends*

  • "that big tentacle thing is swimming away. what might happen if i chase it ?"

  • I think it was trying to kiss you

  • Beautiful specimen... let's eat!

  • Let me put this video in human terms but from the Cuttlefish's point of view. Imagine your sitting in your house and a alien comes out of the sky and walks into your house and looks very different from anything you've ever seen and walks right up to you and puts its face in yours. you are freaked out and try to run but it corners you. so you do all you can and lash out by punching it.

  • What a moron that diver was. He obviously did not realize that two raised tentacles is the Cuttlefish equivalent to a human raising his fists and taking a defensive stance?

  • @McAwesometon I hate to break it to you... Before I first learned that giant cuttle fish raises its two tentacles like that, I thought it was signaling us to rock on. It was the dive master guide in our group that told us about it, when we finished our dive... Anyway, he did tell us that if you see an interesting creature, but you don't know in detail... Don't touch it and don't even handle it....

  • nothing like a dopey diver that doesnt understand what he is dealing with. Cuttlefish are aggressive, so why give them a hard time.

  • haha the ending was perfect

i have a similar video of a sting ray

it eats my camra at the end too :]

  • This could be a diolouge for this event.

Diver #1: Oh look, a cutlefish, lets stalk it.

Cuttlefish: *backs away* Ahh get away!!

    Diver #2: Lets corner it.

Cuttlefish: *Does Kung-Fu pose* Mess with me?

Diver #2: *pokes cuttlefish with camera*

    Cuttlefish: HIIIIIIIYAAAAAAHH!!!!!!!

  • Honestly, I never been diving, but what is it with stupid people and touching wild animals. I mean that thing is big. What is the first thing they do? OH LETS TOUCH IT! Come on... does any one think any more?

  • i dont think a 3 foot long cuttlefish is lethal

  • Sorry but I didn't want to touch it. I didn't even try to get close to it. It just backed of in my direction and got scared when it saw me...

  • i was replying to a certain idiot who said the thing was dangerous, you know, the guy who thinks a 3 foot cuttlefish is really 6 or 7 foot? i think he needs to take a look at the factual differences between a Humboldt Squid and a Giant Cuttlefish, the Squid is something you should rightly FEAR, i hope you never find one..or a Pod of em, they get as big as a human, and will attack about anything, and will consider anything near their size as possible food, you dont wanna mess with a Humboldt :P

  • @Ramsishb Did it try to bite, or was that just that lunge for show?

  • oh yeah, did i forget to sya your also stupid? cus YOU dont think! you think a 3-foot long thing is more like 6 feet and think its somehow dangerous just because you cant tell when a camera lense distorts an image, especially underwater, not to mention theres only one thats dangerously-venomous and the only way a human can die from it is by EATING the poor little things, their only 4 or so inches long, besides, why would you eat something so beautiful as a Flamboyant Cuttlefish?

  • When it comes to cuttlefish and octopi it's actually more likely to be the other way around. They have a tendency to get, ah, friendly, shall we say? They're very curious animals and like to investigate divers, frequently trying to abscond with some of their dive equipment.

  • gotta watch out when they raise their two front tentacles like that, it's a sign of aggression ;)

  • cuttlefish: how many fingers am i holding up?

    person: 3?

    cuttlefish: NO! *attacks*

or he was just saying peace to the diver and the diver didnt respond so cuttlefishy attacked

  • Whenever they raise those two arms like that, they're about to strike. I've seen them adopt that body posture right before they strike at prey.

  • he really should have backed off.

  • fish 1 diver 0

  • Can they actually hurt us? If so, how?

  • no they cant hurt us

the flamboyant cuttle is da only thats poisoness and u have to eat it to die

  • That have beaks though

  • Did he died?

I know nothing about cuttlefish body language, but the second those tentacles came up I thought oh shit.

  • Did camera died?

  • my camera!

  • this is a baby giant cuttlefish right? because there are videos of these bigger than people on here.

  • no mate you thinking about giant squid perhaps. thous cuttlefishes growing more less big like human arm anyway they live up to 2 years if i am right but if not please correct me

  • you have angered the mighty CTHULHU!!

How dare you piss him off!? xD

  • Ia! Ia!

  • CTHULHU CTHULHU!!!!

  • Wow does it really take a genius to read the body language his tentacles clearly say leave me alone. But I guess it doesn't help the diver is a plain retard

  • i know right?its like they give warnings to the diver yet the diver doesnt understand and then people say"I dont know why it attacked me..."

  • you know it seems to me that everyone who is attacked by such creatures never seems to know when to back the fuck off!!!

  • Well i would percieve the arms coming up like that as a stern warning to back off.

  • you should have backed off as soon as you saw it raise its arms like that

  • you have angered the mighty cthulu.

  • its rly stupid seeing ppl divin g without knowing shit.

It was holding up its tentacles which means it was scared of you and meant get back or i fight.

  • cuttle fish are not as vicious as squids but more vicious then an octopus, those squids can kick your ass dude

  • lmao!can't blame the lovely creature, you afterall provoked it!i hope he bit you =D

  • u diserv it

  • I Think only attack if u provoke them... Thats exactly what u were doing.

  • Wow, he didnt die right? ^^ Well, you kept following that cuttlefish and kinda made it angry. Poor fish.

  • it's a big one !!! nice video .. globb globb

  • The little guys are kinda cute, but this one just freaks me out...

  • Is that really you seb?

  • Hehe yes its me...

  • Ahaha! That's awesome!

  • no wonder it attacked you it's like a gang of 6ft teenage YOBS ganging up on a three year old it serves you right...

  • I'm not quite sure one spear can fix that, remarkable animal.

  • dun dun... DUN!

  • lol, be careful around those guys. Cuttlefish have been known to pull out regulator hoses. Spiteful bastards.

  • EVIL*I said that dramaticaly*

  • He had it coming 1. the first diver kept going after it 2. its self defense so don't think it was because cuttle fish are a holes lol. i am diver had cuttle fish come swim with me but they wont hurt u if u don't fuck with them

  • I love the cut off.

    xD

How'd your camera take the attack?

  • Did the cuttlefish bite the diver with its beak?

  • Wow amazing, hah I wonder if he got his camera back. And I agree with BellanarcissA, you shouldn't of pressured it.

  • Of course he got his camera back... O_o We wouldn't have seen the video otherwise. Jeez...common sense.

  • Lol yeah, i realised that right after I posted the camera, Blonde moment :P

  • That is incredible. Cuttle fish are like the masters of the ocean. Evolution at its finest!

  • Who criticised the above comment? What was wrong with it?

  • If this guy is tough then maybe he might like to test his mettle on a giant pacific octopus.

  • great name for a cuddle fish would be zoidberg

  • They're so good at camoflage! They even mimic the texture of they're surroundings. Pretty cool.

  • that diver probably wasnt very bright..

  • First rule of working with animals, when they back off, you back off.

Second rule, don't box them in, which is exactly what you and your friend did.

Dude, you should have known better honestly, what did you gain by advancing on him and stressing him out like that?

  • totally agree :p

  • Have to agree there, poor wee bugger was feeling threatened.

  • i love cuttlefish ours aren't as large as that but i live in the channel islands and see loads whilst i'm swimming, great video but you shouldn't really annoy or scare zoidberg!

  • it ate the camra guy.................0_o

  • I'm not so sure I'd have gotten so close when the cuttlefish was backing up. What a sight to see, the ones I've seen are quite small.

  • The cuttlefish ate the person...and he was never seen again.

  • O_o

  • They can bite the sht outta you. Diver is braver or crazier than I. And I used to hike in the Everglades.

  • That was pretty cool-its skin started to take on the seawead fringe shape and color.

  • Have you still alive? lol.

  • I went diving with these last tuesday in Brighton My buddy Shone a torch right in it's eye swam off in to me and squirted ink at me lol. That was funny I thnik ot was on a drift dive in SW Rocks

  • Cuttlefish is thinking..."This crazy motherfucker WANTS my kung-fu? Aight son..."

  • bahahaha

  • What a dumbass! I have hardly any idea of cephalopods but I saw it was pissed and told you 'leave me alone'. I don't know, was this guy on drugs?

  • Owned. :P

  • This diver deserved to get attacked the cuttlefish was pissed off from him following it hello, moron. Shame it didn't eat the diver lol.

  • This divers an asshole. Thecuttlefish was clearly frightened of him.

  • Idiot! Would you follow a snarling pit bull into a corner? No. No wonder you got attacked. Don't try this with a Titan Triggerfish.

  • i wanna see him do this with a barracuda lol or maybe a viper fish

  • Raising up it's inner pairs of tentacles is a threat display. He was feeling uncomfortable with you constantly following him, so he struck.

  • seriously, its like running after a funnel web spider, once you see those fangs raise up (in this case tentacles) you need to gtfo.

  • All hail Cthulu!!!

  • my thoughts exactly! He dreams!! hehe

  • when i was diving in spain we happened on two octopus mating and my instructor has dived about 1500-1600 times and has never seen it before!!it was weird!

  • cool! its amazing the way it changes it texture! crazy!

  • see i told you not to fuck around with these cephlapods. they will bite you and eat you without asking twice. they are extremely dangerous creatures from cephlapods family .which r basically like aliens. from the film 'alien' dont fuck with them. please.

  • I wouldn't say extremely dangerous. I mean, they're nothing like the humboldt squid, but they're not an animal you want to annoy. This guy clearly was provoked to strike

  • That was kind of funny

  • I want to see more!!

  • why don´´t you let the squid come to you instead of stalking it.

  • dumb

  • right be fore the man dies... trust me i know what im doing

  • wow that thing is gigantic

  • Wow amazing video!!
