@mrlowdangle Dr. Watkins is doing exactly as you have just suggested. Now that the cookout has brought this issue of ignorantly negative racial representation "out in the open", it is being "dealt with" by him. He just made a constructive suggestion that students need to be taught to be racially sensitive. His suggestion was taken by several of my professors at UCSD and has made a positive impact on my education, and the education of many of my classmates.

I don't think you'll have that kind of accountability on the UC San Diego campus because it doesnt truly value racial inclusion/sensitivity, thus the reason they'll quickly "put a bandaid" on the issue & simply discipline the students & have a few townhall meetings to appease minorities & "sensitive whites". If the campus was truly interested in bringing a positive change to their race relations issues they would do what you suggest & also take it a step farther & diversify their faculty/staff!
