I think it's interesting when the scholar says "you get the title when you get the job done". Funny because, in America at least, someone takes a job, takes a title first, then start the job, start to perform the functions of that job. So the person doesn't have to prove that he/she did the job to get the title.
I just wish people would see religion differently. When people see the hypocrisy of the people that practice a certain religion, they automatically assume that the religion is no good, because they don't see the fruits that the religion promises to bring. They fail to realize that people are sinful by nature, thus they will corrupt religion, even if the religion is right. That doesn't take the truth out of the religion. It just shows the corruption of man and its desperate need of a savior.

Christianity is completely rooted in Judaism, even Islam acknowledges it (Taurat and Injeel). Even us, Christians, see it that way. The Gospels and the Torah are completely intertwined. Jesus brought another perspective on Judaism using the own Jewish law to back up his teachings. Others decided to label it as Christianity and then corrupted it throughout the years.

I know that the Romans marveled at the Jewish writings. It gave them an idea, to emulate and alter. The Romans then defeated the Jews and destroyed Jerusalem. They advanced upon it, they made Jesus peace-loving and pacified "his" followers.
