  • I miss these kind of UM-MSU battles. It hasn't even been close the last couple of years. Sparty has dominated UM for the past 3 years, hopefully this year will bring back the Paul Bunyan trophy where it belongs: in Ann Arbor.

  • I'll never forget this game. I watched it with my grandfather and he passed away a week later.

    In memory of Granda Jack

    1932-2005.

  • 8:02

  • @matusmit i still dont get how they called this a fumble

  • Oh Rivas... how do you miss that bud?

  • Avant loved that play at 1:42.

  • michigan state was sooo overrated this year. what the hell was the AP poll thinking

  • Why do I feel that in many cases when a team that is favored against us loses to us, the rest of that team's season totally falls apart?

  • wasn't 2005 the first year for instant replay in college football? the fumble should have been reviewed.

  • @63Dsl

It was reviewed. Not sure WHY THE CALL WASN'T OVERTURNED but, oh well. We won.

  • Anthony Avant?

  • Refs suck.

    Go Blue!

  • This is the year we beat MSU. Go Blue!!

  • Spartan Stadium doesn't seem to have an endearing nickname like the Big House. Can we call it the Halfway House?

  • Yeah, that fumble in the 4th was horseshit. I've seen NFL situations where that isn't ruled a fumble even when the ball is still behind the QB's head. The rule is that ANY forward motion whatsoever gets ruled an incomplete pass. Refs screw up all the time, but this is the third shitty call in an MSU game that has lead directly to points for Sparty that I've seen thus far.

  • 3:30 LOOK AT THAT OFFENSIVE BLOCKING. Henne had all day to make that throw!

  • I'm a Wolverine fan... been to the Big House numerous times... been to Spartan Stadium once in 2009 vs. Iowa... Spartan Stadium is nothing compared to the BIG HOUSE.

  • that's because it hold 35,000 less fans, you idiot. of course the big house is going to be louder...

  • That fumble call in the 4th was and still is awful I don't understand what the replay booth official was looking at.

  • I still feel so bad for Bass and Michigan for not being use to use his great talent he poccessed.

  • we were running the wildcat with bass and breaston forever ago people all of a sudden are seeing and thin ark and miami dolphins made it up

  • Man, we got 86 players on our team that are freshmen or sophomores, when they're all juniors and seniors, we're gonna be DAMN good!

    Go Blue!

  • One of the Big Ten's Greatest Games and tommorow it's going to happen again GO BLUE!!!!

  • ..good call.. GO GREEN!!

  • Maybe the best game I've ever been to and definitely the loudest...even though state lost

After Peko ...that was the momentum shift and MSU should have won

  • Henne owned MSU

  • as much as i hate to say it.. he really did. he was so good at the deepball. expecially to manningham. they killed us. but that was with john l smith mainly.

  • Congrats on the win Saturday. I'm a UM fan, but I'm not really too upset. I felt like MSU was the better team, even with a worse record. That Kirk Cousins kid is pretty damn good.

And even though I liked Henne and have a great deal of respect for him, I think Tate has the leadership that Chad never had at Michigan. Too bad he started out 0-1 against Sparty, but oh well.

  • dude you have no idea how nervous i was. msu's defense played in a way they havent played all year. msu and u of m have great quarterbacks the next 2 years for msu and the next 3 for michigan. forcier is not an nfl type either so you know hes staying for his senior year. i really hpe this rivalry starts having an impact on the big ten championship. and thanks for not being arrogant like a lot of the michigan fan base. good luck the rest of the season.

  • Thanks, same to your squad. I have nothing against MSU, it's ND I hate.

  • i would hope so lol. i think every one outside of indiana hates ND. cuz no matter how much they suck espn never stops talking about them and their fans are the worst.

  • Freshman qb + away game + shaky defense + rivalry =very difficult game. Hopefully well do better against Iowa. Their D has sucked as of late too. But hell of a comeback effort from our boy Tate. This kid is a true athlete. Big Ten teams should be looking at him and saying we might have a problem. GO BLUE

  • does anyone watch these gams in full screen?

  • is there any other way to watch them? =]

  • How the hell did Sparty get to #11. Wasn't that the year they played so many cupcakes.

  • They were 4-0 with 3 blowout wins over cupcake teams and a thrilling OT win against Notre Dame. (Even I cheered that day).

After they beat an awful Illinois team 61-14, Sports Illustrated wrote an article on how great their offense was and I had a feeling that would come back to haunt them. They were favored against us for the first time since 1968.

After we won, Sparty only won one game the rest of the year.

  • yeah, i read that article in sports illustrated. but i dont think the michigan loss was the reason we lost all of our other games. we were beating ohio state IN ohio state until that botched field goal. THAT was the turning point. GODDAMN IT I MISS STANTON.

  • and their offense was good lol. even at the end of the year they were still ranked like 5th or 6th in total offense and ranked 1 for most of the year. but you do make a good point about beating cupcake teams. but we gained a SHIT ton of yeards versus ND and we got quite a bit versus michigan this game. our defense was teh reason we were so bad in 05 and 06. stanton was amazing and he just didnt have the defense to back it up.

  • @WolverineHistorian Hmm that sounds familiar ... OT win over ND, easy wins over cupcakes, win over overrated Wisconsin. 5-0 and they're unstoppable. Will be fun to break their hearts again.

  • @WolverineHistorian that kinda sounds like us this year -_-

  • and also john goss missed like 3 field goals. both kickers had an awful game hahaha

  • You'll never see a game produced like this on ESPN. The theme music at the beginning, the overhead view on the first play, the on-screen graphic at 2:22. All awesome. But I'm just ranting on for no reason, again. Plus, how did Rivas miss that kick?

  • You can't beat ABC. But I still prefer ESPN's coverage to the Big Ten Network.

  • what ever happen to Antonio Bass? he might of been good for Rich Rod O

  • He busted up his knee in spring practice in march 2006 and never saw the field again. I think he reinjured that same knee in spring practice 2007 as well

  • the first play's camera angle would be good for the whole game

  • @ 4:28: There you go again, Brent, calling Jason Avant "Anthony Avent".

  • Wow. I can't even imagine what a healthy Antonio Bass would of done on that 2005 Michigan team. The 2009 team? Oh my goodness...

  • I know he would have been a great player. It was a shame injuries derailed his career.

  • Bass was healthy throughout the 2005 season, but yeah, he could have been a helluva QB for us last season (or a great slot receiver). I remember some anouncer saying that bass was one of the best athletes he had ever seen

  • I know him personally....my dude blew out his knee. He indeed woulda been superb.

  • Dude, thats pretty sweet. do you know what Bass is doing with his life post-football? I'm just curious. If I was Bass, I'd be thinking NFL all the way and wouldn't have thought about getting a degree.

  • Another one of those games where we just dominated and we just left a team in there, but I just love beating Michigan State...and I can't stand Dantonio and we need to put him in his place this year...i hope

  • It was frustrating. No doubt about it. Sparty getting a bogus TD return from a non-fumble and Rivas missing that field goal at the end of the 4th quarter...the game should never have gone to OT. But every game came down to the last minute in 05, win or loss.

  • your right, the game never should have. our kicker should have hit 3 field goals. now i will admit that fumble return was questionable but great teams overcome those. man the drew stanton brady quinn chad henne era was great wasnt it?

  • @DMichiganWol21 Typical Wolverine fan...

  • @andrewps84 Yep! It's Great To Be A Michigan Wolverine!...Typical Michigan State Fan Comment

  • Comment removed

  • @andrewps84 I know the comment is removed, but I will answer it anyways.I've been a Michigan fan for more than 20 years of my life & have been to Ann Arbor as well as East Lansing (Which is beautiful by the way, my rogue cousin went there)...jk.It is a great school. Now to your comment:I wasn't making fun of Michigan State in my first comment, I actually was fun of Michigan with a backhanded comment to MSU which was not cool...my bad...2) My problem with isnt Dantonio's coaching, it his attitude

  • @DMichiganWol21 I agree, there are things about Dantonio I don't like, but I think he's an improvement from that hillbilly John L. Smith. I have been to the Big House and honestly I am in awe of the place, compared to Spartan Stadium (I used to live a few miles from there.) My parents met at MSU, coming from totally different backgrounds and my dad coming from 12,000 miles away, himself as a grad student. You can see why my love is there. I like the videos, what can I say?

  • @andrewps84 That's true, they are great videos! Well, I guess all I can say is there is a mutual respect on both ends and I hope that 2011 brings a helluva game between the Spartans and the Wolverines

  • @andrewps84

"THE PLAYERS ARE WORKING THEIR TAILS OFF, AND THE COACHES ARE SCREWING IT UP!!!!!!!!"

    -John L. Smith

  • @commodorefan2 Yeah John L. was a joke. He was championship coach at the Pop Warner level...Ron Mason and President McPherson must have been high on something.

  • @andrewps84

I'm not a sparty fan, I just remember laughing at John L.'s meltdown that one year when they were playing Ohio State.

  • @commodorefan2 Never said you were a Spartan fan and didn't suggest it either...I was saying he was joke and he'll never live that one down...definitely one for the blooper reel.

  • @DMichiganWol21 You know I won't stoop to your level. I have a respect for UM and a great love for Bo Schembechler, believe it or not. Dantonio isn't rolling over like all the other coaches did, get over it...Half of the Wolverine fans I know can't even spot Ann Arbor on a map, they're about as fairweather as they get. I have a good reason for supporting the schools and programs that I do. Good luck to your program this year.

  • @andrewps84 and good luck to your team...i hope that both teams are 100% and the better team wins

  • i loved this game it was great 5 stars

  • Didn't you already have this video.

  • I did. But the other one I made was too short and I didn't edit it very well so I decided to make a better copy.
