  • jesus crist lol it waz loud hu?

  • PAUSE IN 0:13

  • That thunderstorm had severe size hail(1 inch or larger size), and thus was severe. The hail core simply missed your location. With the frequency of the lightning in your video, there is no way that it would not be a severe hailer. I see those all the time. From the frequency of lightning in your video, I would guess that this cell contained up to golf ball size hail.

  • fake if real then you will be blind

  • @noxmaster123 Idiot

  • @noxmaster123 Your fucking stupid, many people get HIT by lightning and can still see 20/20 vision.

  • @noxmaster123 he WAS blind

  • thunder has feelings too ya know T___T

  • @Stormsfurry777 - That is no longer true. The Storm Prediction Center in conjunction with the National Weather Service have now upgraded the hail criteria in order for a thunderstorm to be classified as severe. Now, the storm must contain hail of 1" or larger to be called severe, instead of the old criteria of 3/4".

  • You down below! Bull shit not severe my ass! That is deadly cloud to ground lightning! Which occurs in a SEVERE THUNDER STORM

  • Not even severe.

  • That is one shit!

  • I still can't believe I dropped the camera to run and hide like a little girl :(

  • When your that close, you never hear the thunder, been there many times! I live across a 22 story building. Gets hit every storm. The light is, no words.

  • why no sound? i wanted to hear the thunder!

  • It seems to be only coming through the right audio channel, so check and see if you are only getting the left side.

  • "Lightning doesn't make it severe, it's barely even raining."

    obviouslyt God didnt think so

  • "Lightning doesn't make it severe,it's barely raining...*CRACK!*OOH!!!"

    Well,you were VERY wrong. >.o

  • "Lightning doesn't make it severe, it's barely even raining." Bet you had a sudden downburst ... YIPE. TOO close. 5/5 stars. WOW.

  • i had that once myself alone on a bycicle, didnt know how fast i cycled home after that:P i saw a brightlight (was the only thing is saw) and direct after that a earth shaking shock. i think it was like 30 meters away from me. glad to survived it

  • that's amazing. The sound of all that thunder is scary!

  • I think its severe cos of the downpours for floods but in a differnt case mabie the wind or possibly rotation. Also r u ok??

  • Wow, wicked one!

  • Nice all-movie-copyright.

Nice clip but that copyright during the whole clips rocks a little.

  • no rain doesent make a storm severe.. OH MY GOD!!!! X/

  • Just thought a quick reply would suffice ... a severe thunderstorm is defined as one containing 58 mph winds and/or 3/4 inch diameter hail ... many times now wording from NWS warnings and statements will include a thunderstorm or strong thunderstorm with excessive cloud to ground lightning is occurring. But lightning alone does not make a storm severe.

  • I don't know if you were directing the reply at myself, but I know the criteria. My younger brother came out as I was filming and asked "is it severe?" and I said "no, lightning doesN'T make it severe."

  • Wasn't directing that statement at you. I browsed thru all the comments earlier and many think lightning makes a storm severe.

  • Lightning is one of the criteria in determing a storm's severity. Mostly it depends on high winds, hail and in some cases the possibility of tornadoes forming. As for lightning being a factor, there would have to be more cloud-to-ground strikes than normal in determining a storm's severity.

  • i never knew lightning was the big indicator of a severe thunderstorm....i always thought in descending order that it was number of tornados spawned, size of hail., lightning, and wind speed...

  • This is actual incorrect. Lighting has no determination on whether or not a storm is classified "severe".

  • @prairiestormwx Then I suppose it's just coincidental that lightning happens to be more intense in severe thunderstorms? And EAS warnings almost always advise of "dangerous lightning" with severe thunderstorms. Sorry, but I have to stand by my original comment with that, though I also agree with stormtracker05's comment.

  • @HauntedGhostLady I am a meteorologist and can also say currently lightning and rainfall are not factored in calling a thunderstorm "severe". A severe thunderstorm as defined in the United States is hail 1 inch in diameter or larger (quarter sized), winds of 58 mph or greater, or a tornado. The storm only needs one of those parameters to meet criteria.

  • ohh yeah true

  • are you ok man??

  • wow the electricity fucked up the video camera for a bit too!!

  • Life spared: 1

    Clean Underoos: 0

  • "Why'd they make it severe its barely even raining?" CRACK BOOM "OH!OH MY GOD" I think he found out.

  • @poopqwerty123 I know this is a delayed correction but he says, "Lightning doesn't make it severe, its barely even rain"**

  • Damn. That was close. Lightning just struck about 200 yards away from my house in New York. Pretty loud.

  • Gads, that's WAY too close. Holy smoke. I would have browned my drawers - know what you mean about dazed and disoriented from lightning, been indirectly struck three times.

I do not chase. Storms find ... me.

Wow. INtense. Adding to "Lightning" playlist.

How much damage to you, the camera, the tree?

    *StormSpinner1* in Texas.

    WOW!

  • god i would be like screaming lyk hell lol

  • That'l teach you to belittle a thunderstorm!Who says god doesn't have a sense of humor? :)

  • Good thing he wasn't out in that! O_O

  • Lightning dosen't make it severe, it[::])()()(BOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!!CRRRAAAAAACCCCCKKKKKK!!!!BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!

  • LOL dude ate his words.. great vid!

  • spoke too soon mate

  • Finally!!, A real good video for once!!

  • "Lighting doesnt make it severe, its barely even raining" God corrected u on that lol

  • i knew it was coming and it still scared the shit outta me, i have no idea how you felt lol

  • lol, lightening doesn't make it severe....

    BLAM~!

    lol

  • hahaha yeah SPOKE TOO SOON

  • OMFJ jesus was wif u

    that was kinda cool tho

  • dude, the thunder just keeps coming...and coming...and coming! Jeez that's crazy!

  • lightning can strike upwards to 250 miles away from a storm

  • Umm, no it can't.

  • Yes it can. Not directly from the edge, and maybe not 250 miles, but atleast 150.

  • no... 10 from the cloud base..

  • lol 00:13

  • this was a positiv lightning way?? what again see the red spirte and now the positiv lightning.

  • Im not an expert on this, but i dont think a "positive" bolt looks any different then a regular bolt...

  • Stop the vid at 00:13 the screen goes completetly white.

  • Bolt from the blue is true! A thunderstorm may be miles away and the lightning from the distant storm can be deadly!

  • Awsome!!!

  • not fake

    asome too

  • i live in bloomington (about 1 hour away) tell me if you have another storm like that

  • sweet...at night, no less. Cool.

  • I'm scared of lightning. When there a thunderstorm I go hide in my basement.

  • mdrrrrrrr lightning is fun :)

  • @mariotitto me,too

  • wow!!

  • wow

  • thats called lightning =]

  • that was bad but not nearly as bad as when lighting struck less than 20 feet away from me..... and im 12 that was scary

  • dude i fell ur pain im 13 lightning struck my house and petrifided my old dog so bad he had to be put down because of massive internal bleeding.

  • Sorry to hear about that man.

  • Lightning may not make a storm severe, but multiple CGs in close range are alot scarier than a 100km/h microburst! :)

  • Lightning can strike 10 miles away when there is clear sky! This is called a bolt from the blue!

  • One time a Bible salesman in Florida got struck by a "Bolt from The Blue". Look it up on Google.

  • Florida has spectacular positive strikes, their evening pulse storms are a real treat to watch on warm balmy nights :-)

  • Jesus christ, buddy.

    I'm suprised you're still alive.

  • Dangerous lightning is something to keep in mind but when a thunderstorm strikes at night and a warning is issued. it is hard to recognize damaging winds or possibly a tornado until they are upon you and thats why a weather radio is a GREAT investment! One with a warning alarm that is!

  • yeah no kidding. once I was in london ontario during a storm chase there was lighting about every second and a half. apparently two people got struck and the last I heard one of them was in critical condition 8|

  • I looked at the station records for that day.

Boy It was hot and humid there or what.

Funny thing I have seen lightning that bad at my place same day, same month, same time but in 2006.

Even better, the exact same temps, but lower humidity(65F dew points)

    I live near Edmonton, Alberta

  • Holy crap Andrew that's amazing. The sound of all that thunder is scary!

  • I shot a video of lightning recently at my house in Hawaii the night of 12-7-07 at about 10:17pm, I have no idea how close the lightning was, but I felt the shock wave in my chest and ran for the house afterward, maybe you can see for yourself and let me know how close you think the lightning was, the video was aired on out local news also. Thanks!

  • you know whats evenworse. you lying in bed, it quiet and you start to feel your hair stick up. and all of a sudden you see lighting strike the house across the street from you... it makes you not want to sleep during a thinderstorm again.

  • This video is interesting as hell. If you notice, after the first strike caught on camera, there were 2 or 3 more very close hits. You could see the flash. SCARY AS HELL!! Of course, I would've been scared shitless too after that first one. Very cool video!

  • Wow you got the Triple Whammie there.

    that must have been scary.

  • fuck dude

i would have shit my self and had multiple heart attacks

  • wow, that's very scary! Your quite brave :)

  • that's insane...bet you'll never underestimate a storm again

  • sweet, i want to be in a storm like that, got to see mother nature at her best before we die!

  • and you were saying.....? Bet youll think ywice before saying something like that again, huh? Nice video

  • Haha thats what I was thinking.

    "Lightning doesnt make it severe"

I bet you ate your hat!

  • i think thats mother natures way of saying FUCK YOU!!! lol...great capture dude...hopw u got away w/o any burns or anything

  • hey. this is why you don't question storms or God when it's storming. I asked God to make up his mind about our flickering lights in hurrican frances, and he a tree fell on our transformer about a minute later. i've learned my lesson. i hope you've learned yours. :)

  • Did you photograph the spot were it hit?

    Could you show this frame-by-frame?

  • shhhhhh# that would have been some serious sh## i would have craped myself

  • Now THAT is a bad-ass storm! A+ dude!

  • Roger Ebert is from Urbana I think

  • Three lightning bolts really close....man, that must have been sweet.

  • "lightning doesn't make it severe..." haha, i bet that made you think differently! lol

  • Don't taze me bro!

  • god must have the flu and sneezed on ur life and missed

  • lamo hahah

  • oh my god!! you are so lucky you did not get hit!!

  • pause at 00:13

  • god shot lighting at u lol

  • here's my way of telling a severe t-storm. especially at night if u see multiple flashes of lightning and see atleast 3 flashes in 2 seconds, then it is a severe t-storm. Next time one hits ur town, watch for it. I bet it is severe.

  • "Lightning doesn't make it severe, it's barely even rain...OHHHH MMMYYYYY GOOOOODDDD!" - thats priceless

  • 00:36, top left corner. ya know what that is? thats his life flashing before his eyes >.<

  • Jesus christ, what a lightning shower that is. Three lightning strikes in almost the same location. Shit!

  • Well, time to throw that pair of shorts in the trash!

  • i guess thats mother nature's way of saying FUCK YOU! lol

  • LMAO..i was thinking the SAME fucking thing lol

  • LOL!!! Andrew what did your mother tell you.

  • XD I think that was God's way of getting back at you for the comment, "Lightning doesn't make it severe, it's barely even rain."

  • hehe, word :)

  • Awesome dude!

  • stop the vid at 13 secs, nd u can the the bolt kinda gd lol.

  • go to my video Almost getting hit by lightning.

  • University of Illinois is a great school, but lots of thunderstorms in the midwest. I grew up at Sparta, Illinois.

  • haha thats cool... my dad lives over on Burkwood Dr... I live in NC now but grew up there and attended UHS... I guess its not that remarkable I just thought it was interesting to run into someone close to home on YouTube. I will have to ask dad if he remembers that lightning strike

  • hey bro I am from Urbana...where did this strike happen??

  • Was in my backyard... I wasn't out chasing this night. Probably shouldn't give out my home location on youtube though, heh

  • haha I agree...what side of town though...just out of curiousity...I am over (well I live in NC now) by Anderson/Florida intersection...

  • Near the same intersection actually

  • o.O awesome

  • i think thats why they called it severe rofl ure so lucky man

  • HOLY SHIT!! just glad u got out of there Alive. xD

  • oh shit this was brutal - after the first close one hit it opened the way to several more strikes, seems these things feed on each other, I've noticed this in other storms.

  • i think mother nature heard when u said that and got real mad. that shows people that u should speak 2 soon. i had 2 learn my lesson the hard way! i wish i had a video for my bad experince. I ssooooo happy ur okay tho!

  • go to hell u sick perv

  • Wow, you are really cool. Cool kid.

  • where is dis

  • Lol sounds like your mom was saying she doesn't want you outside recording anymore lol. My mom would be the same way 0_o

  • The guy that was talking "Lightning doesn't make it severe, it's barely even rain."

He Just got Owned... by a mass of electrons xD

  • "Lightning doesn't even make it severe, it's barely even rain-- OHHH!!" XDXD

  • Lightning is hotter than the surface of the sun. It's so hot that it causes air around the bolt to expand at supersonic speed causing the sonic boom/thunder clap. Dogs respect and fear lightning and humans should too since more people get hit by lighting than win the lottery.

  • jeez! hahaha that was so like caaaapppoooww!!! haha

    glad your ok...

  • Oh Yes B'Y!!!

  • Wow!!! Glad yer ok lol

  • Severe enough for ya? :)

  • holy shit thats close!

  • what can i say...

    im very jelous

  • a forxe within

  • Serves him right for making fun of the storm.

  • thats what happens when you call lightning "barely severe".

  • FAKE!

  • too much text bollox for your own gain!

  • well

    PWn3D!

  • That is so legit!

  • That Lightning strike seemed a bit odd to me, the way it struck, there was a 2 second pause there before the main lightning hit, even i heard it coming before appearing although i guess i dont even anyone knew it coming because it happened so sudden >> guess im the only one with a knack for feeling a lightning before striking.

  • The appearance could be partly because the discharge interferes with the camera.

Also, lightning comes on two perts: The first from the ground to the sky ionizes the air; the second is from the sky down, and that's the one that makes most of the sound and light. (I think)

  • I hope a lightning will someday kill my class mate...fuck him

  • you're all sooooo lucky.

  • lmao dude..i prolly wouldve shit my pants xD

  • i have to say u mess with the bull you get the 100 million volts of pure energy. an average electrical socket has about 210. so yeah i think you can do the math. one hit from lightning is about 500 times as much as a regular outlet

wanna go play in the rain now?

  • rofl 210 x 500 is 105000 its like 50000 times the power of an outlert LMAO

  • sorry my mistake i left out a 0 lol i didnt look back to see if it was ok. thanks dude

  • Tooclose!! Saved to favorites--thanks.

  • God is much more powerful than that... God could like, totally make the lightning strike not even hurt at all... He could be hit by lighting and not even feel it....

  • My god. It was powerful enough to interfear with the camera. Defiantly a brown trowser moment.

  • Lightning doesnt make it severe, its bearly even raining..." "AHHH GOD" lmao!!!

  • do it again!

  • Wow, what an experience. I always have my camera recording in these sort of storms

  • Looked like you provoked the storm, lol i do that alot to get more lightning, insulting the storm actually does make more lightning lol. So that was an amazing shot btw! WOW!

  • God has a big sense of humor :P

  • you have felt the power of god my son.

  • That aint even close to the power of god rofl

  • wow stunning i hope you dont get hurt or so stressed because i know how it feels

  • at 00:13... um, maybe go in and change ur pants!

  • rofl famous last words

  • lmao I bet ur never gonna say "lightning doesn't even make it severe, its barely even rain", ahahahh

  • Suggest a cahnge of underpants.

  • Good 'ol Illinois. Peoria here!

  • stop at :13 WOW

  • owies

  • WAY TOO CLOSE! HOLY CRAP! YOUR UNDERWEAR MUST OF BEEN YELLOW AND GROUNDED! lol

  • Disclaimer/copyright could appear on the outerframe of vid... I had an analog video disrupt as well when the lightning hit, I was recording stereo audio as well during a thunderstorm, it really comes with no warning other then the lightning
