I just love this kid!! After watching the video last year we decided we had to try HBOT for our son. He had a stroke before he was born and has CP and CVI. After one 40 dive session he can sit up unassisted for 20 minutes, he cries 10 percent of what he used to cry, his vision improved to the point of needing new glasses, he is more attentive and has more stamina. 11 years post mtbi for me and just discovered/started this treatment. I can say folks who disliked this either did it by accident or never had a brain trauma themselves..
I have a brain injury I have no amygdala and cannot experience love, joy and happiness from an accident that happened 3 years ago.
I have made a major discovery that lucid dreaming, God and the pineal gland is saving my life. I found out when your conscious enough to speak during a lucid dream it causes a miracle to happen. I said Jesus Heal me, or God save me and I would get healed and experience a euphoric sensation on each part of the injury. this discovery has been saving my life!
This is one of the most incredible things I've ever seen! This is an awesome medical break through (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) corrects this young man's brain injury from the Iraq war.
a true hero and inspiration to us all.. literally the most inspirational video i have ever seen.. i hope the improvements never stop.. Curt you are one amazing dude.. thanks for sharing the amazing video and reminding everyone that anything is possible if you never give up hope.. god bless you.
Keep listening to the experts in this world, they aren't corrupt or anything, they'd never suppress info on treatments that would cut into multi trillion dollar drug profits. The proof is on the pudding, watch the video again and do your own research, ask other people who have used it, don't wait on the good ole boys club to think for you.
@cwendyhawk I'm jealous! I'm looking into HBOT to try and fix a similar situation I'm having with MY left foot and ankle as well! Haven't been able to walk in over 8 months and it's getting REAL old. Are your foot injuries the result of motor nerve damage? Has it helped with the numbness at all? What pressure are they using on you?
A year ago my sister with two years post TBI problems had encountered a web testimonial of road accident survivor. She found and had 40 HBOT in Argentina resulted in stable significant improvements in her damaged memory and chronic fatigue. She had no improvements in two post-TBI years before oxygen treatment. Here is the story which helped her to discover HBOT:
I have personally experienced positive results from HBOT. I have severe chronic pain due to nerve damaged caused by a virus and also (unrelated to that) chronic PTSD. That neuronal plasticity is more existent than first thought is an idea that has just been confirmed by studies within recent history. I've only been in therapy for several sessions and have already seen reduced physical pain. Hoping it will reduce PTSD symptoms as well, but that remains to be determined.
So happy that you never gave up on him, well done!! he has such a beautiful face and smile, wishing you all the best Kirk Allen. Many years ago now I had a time where God walked with me for a week and when I drove by a lady in a wheel chair He (God) sobbed so much, I was shocked, He also told me we "able" people have a lot to learn from those that have broken bodies. Don't know about you but I could see beautiful qualities in Kirk.
Three months seems to be the standard time for discharge from Rehab for "failure to improve". I suspect it has more to do with government/insurance payment regulations than the progress/needs of the patients.
this video is AMAZING!! can somebody tell me why this therapy isn't being used everywhere? i'm happy for curt, getting the chance to have a life again. he must have a whole new outlook.
does anybody know what actually caused his injury?
a motor vehicle accident was the cause of his tbi.
Call (504)309-4948 and we can discuss why it is not being used everywhere. Politics in medicine and deliberate obstructions from a selfish medical society have caused many people to suffer needlessly. Dr Harch has tried to get this the standard of care - available to everyone, but it's an uphill battle. This requires a long conversation.
Thank you. This weekend he just completed the 2nd edition of "The Oxygen Revolution". He updated existing chapters and added info regarding the TBI/PTSD pilot study with our soldiers. It is going to press any second now. Jan 21,'10 Horay!!
Update on Curt? He is driving, has a full time job, has his own apt, he is still cheerful and delightful. He walks in joyful gratitude :-)
Dr Harch has 7 more funded slots available for people with TBI/PTSD who have been exposed to IEDs (explosions, blast injuries). Curt Allen is doing very well, he has recovered to the point where he is driving again, has a job, and his own apartment. Thank you all for you kind posts and loving messages to him. Dr Harch's current study is thru LA State Univ Health Sci Cntr. He also treats private patients. If you know of someone who has sustained a TBI feel free to call us to discuss 504 309-4948
It is available, call Dr Harch. The application for the pilot study is open to all soldiers & veterans between the ages of 18 to 65. Blast induced TBI with or without PTSD, we now have 4 funded spots available. Or if you do not meet criteria you can petition TriCare to cover costs.
HBOT is successful in limited cases. It has great results at reducing death at time of injury. Progesterone infusion therapy also can result in miraculous improvements and reduction of death.
Unfortunately, many of the promotions are done by the profiteers who disclose their few successes. They do not mention how much money is spent by unsuccessful attempts to help the brain injured. This is why the insurance companies are hesitant to pay for HBOT.
Hyperbaric chambers can be used for so much more than just decompression/diving accidents. Imagine doing major surgery, transplants, open heart surgery, etc. and virtually eliminate blood loss. One problem is there aren't all that many chambers available, and most aren't large enough for more than a couple people sitting down. They also do wonders for victims of carbon monoxide poisoning.
@macpduff When a patient prepays for 10 sessions, the clinic I visit in Los Angeles charges $60 per 50-minute session. A similar clinic in San Diego charges $40 per session if a patient prepays for 10 sessions.
I recently started mild-pressure (1.3 atm) HBOT for heavy metal toxicity and PTSD. After the first session I felt amazing, and the effects are cumulative. Even just for wellness and well-being this therapy is superb.
Well is this treatment is so fantastic why hasn't it been submitted for testing by a third party, and if it has, why hasn't it been accepted by the medical community at large?
I can see only two scenarios...
Ether:
The practitioners are private profiteers, worse than any drug company ever.
Or the therapy just does not work.
If it has been submitted for testing by a third party then I can only presume it just didn't work better than a controle...
God Bless you Curt.. you are a courageous young man and blessed to have parents and doctors who believed in your ability to get better. I use HBOT for my MS and know what a wonderful effect it has had in my life.
I hope there will be further updates on your progress.
oxygen cures all diseases including aids cancers any and everything. no virus can surive in oxygen. this wus YAHWEHS GREATEST HEALER TO MANKIND............until man started thinkin he wus a god
It's very good to see an positive inspirations of HBOT. My brother Mr. C. Ray. Broussard, here in Conroe, Texas had a brain injury around or about December 5, 2008 and is currently let him at the beging stage of Curt Allen. Today is September 30, 2009 and my brother Mr. Broussard is currently working on his 4th treatment of HBOT in The Woodlands, Texas. We'll keep everyone posted on this site for updates. Keep us in your prayers as continue our miracle
omg i love this. this is an inspiration for ALL people who have been severely brain damaged. good job curt. it may be cirk. i cant remember sorry but really good job.
This is amazing! I know you come to see this ashley! I hope this does give you the hope and the strength and courage to know that Joey can be like Curt! God Bless you both! And Curt.. way to go.. What strength! God is good.. all the time.
Bless him, he has such a beautiful spirit. Its sad that this is the product of war, knowone should have to go through this. But its good to see that the therapy is working!
Now THE REASON THIS IS THE STANDARD OF CARE FOR BRAIN INJURIES IS IT WOULD TOTALLY ELIMINATE ALL THE ANTI SEIZURES MEDICATIONS!!!!!!!! HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED HOW THEY ALWAYS SAY THEY DONT KNOW THE EXACT MECHANISM OF HOW THE MEDICATION WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!! MORE BULLSHIT THERE TOO! ITS LIKE A PASTE BEING APPLIED TO THE NUERONS ON YOUR BRAIN!
Please let me know where do you do this therapy and how much does it cost? I understant that the insurance does not pay for a therapy as such for brain injuries from birth....
my friend is having it done in randolph ma, they can charge anywhere from $150 to $1500 and hour..the patient is usually in the hbot chamber for 2 hours
Please be careful, posting misinformation, the wrong protocol might cause damage to someone. Oxygen under pressure acts as a drug. As with any medication you must administer the correct dose in order to get optimum results, and by all means do no harm. An over dose of HBOT causes oxygen toxicity. Be careful.
The availability of HBOT is rapidly expanding. Depending on your location, you should be able to find treatment not too terribly far. Let me know what area and I would be glad to help you locate a facility.
Hey everyone. I know Dr. Harch personally. He is an incredible man. He discovered and is the reason that HBOT is being treated for brain injuries. Buy his book, The Oxygen Revolution, at Barnes and Noble TODAY. People, this stuff works, so if you know anyone with TBI, look into this miraculous treatment asap.
Well done Curt! HBOT is amazing. I have used it too. I have MS and live in the UK. Oxygen treatment is also used by premiereship football teams when a footballer sustains an injury. I can say for sure, having had MS relapses, that this type of treatment speeds up recovery. Curt is a great example.
Not to be a cynic or anything, but I'm not sure what this video proves exactly. He seems pretty remote and out of it in the first few videos but there is no indication that he wasn't just having an off day (as opposed to the later vids of him giggling and talking a bit). He can't walk at the beginning and he can't walk at the end. He looks a bit more confident but not necessarily any "better." What effect is HBOT supposed to have exactly?
A simple sense of deduction would suffice. I would advise you to apply logical deduction, such as the rest of humanity applies given certain circumstances.
I would suggest you undergo the treatment to aid your neurological development, as your ability for empathy seems that it may be compromised.
I am a US Navy Deep Sea Diver (11 years) and personally have seen hyperbaric medicine work. It isn't an overnight cure for non-diving related injuries but it does work. Providing 100% oxygen at a high partial pressure to the Central Nervous System and to deprived skin tissue is irrefutable.
most insurance companies won't pay for hbo treatment in the states because it hasn't been researched much here. It's used a lot more often in Europe. My brother is going to start treatment for his tbi soon. We found a research study that is going to pay for his treatments. Of course the insurance company wouldn't but thank goodness for the research study group at UNMC. He should be starting his treatment in a few weeks.
My neuro doctor said this is impossible and not proven. No insurance company will touch this type of treatment. My son has a TBI and looks alot like Curt. Somebody tell me where I can get some help if not from my son doctor.
I don't know the extent of your sons injury, but II would always seek a 2nd & possibly 3rd opinion. Alot of doctors do not back up this type of therapy because they simply do not know enough about it. It is a known fact that doctors can sometimes be wrong.
The HBOT group I have been working with is 100% willing to work out a payment plan for the oxygen treatments. Rehab portion was covered by insurance.
There are a lot of doctors that don't have experience with hbo treatment. It is being used in Europe as regualar tbi treatment. My brother got severe carbon monoxide poisoning and he is going to start hbo treatment soon. Insurance in the states won't pay for it yet because there's not enough research on it here. We got lucky enough to get him in as a research study at UNMC,the research company will be paying for it. I'd try2 call hospitals about any research studies your son could qualify for.
its not so much the doctor doesnt kno it also has to do with american medical politics and procedures and such the hbo facilities i am working with as well as my father who is also an md are frustrated greatly by how underestimated and unused these facilities are i first discovered the uses for decompression sickness as i am a diver and found how many ther possibilites this sort of treatment can have from the bends to skin grafts to curts case which has recently been showed to me by my mentor
We just got done with our 18th treatment here in Florida. My son has autism. He is six. His teachers saw improvements in his attention and focusing after the second week, not to mention his speech has increased as well. He is forming more complete sentences and using them in the correct context. The treatments are FREE!! Google St. Petersburg HBOT Mark Fowler and read all about it!! Took us six months to get called, but keep trying, they want to help as many as they can. They accept DONATIONS!!
I just started hyperbarics forr Add & ocd. It is by far is the most effective treatment x10 I've seen. I did get a barotrauma becasue the nurse didn't tell me how to clear my ears. She realized after I had pressure behind my ears. It scared me to death but I'm going back as soon as my ear heals. It's worth the money. Is there a way I can prevent a barotrauma the next time? Is that right should I have been clearing my ears from the start of the pressure?
From a scuba diving class I took I learned how to "equalize" which I think is the same as what you're talking about. What we were taught to do was plug our noses and try to blow air through the nose. If this is the way you're doing it, you can do it as early and often as you want. And if you feel any pressure in your ears, do it again as many times as needed.
Wow that's crazy! I myself have a daughter with a TBI, almost 3 years ago. I have recently been considering HBOT for her and do not dismiss it, however my daughter's recovery was much like Curt's, without HBOT. Again we'll most likely do HBOT to see it's benefits on the touted areas, such as speech, motor planning, balance, coordination, etc... Not to mention, this video is not posted by an unbiased party, this is from the Doctor "selling" HBOT and probably raking in the cash!
Dr. Harch does not own the clinic where he treats his patients with HBOT. The patients receive HBOT and pay for it at cost, as determined by clinic owners. The typical cost is $150/treatment, which is less than 10% of the usual fee charged by hospitals (> $1500/treatment) Dr. Harch does not receive anything for their treatments but does charge a consulting fee of $250 per patient.
So the typical cost is $150/treatment. which is less then 10% usual fee charged by hospital. O.K your words. Then you go on to say,Dr.Harch does not receive anything. Your not making sence. He is paying or he's not paying, He can't do both.
Anecdotes are, unfortunately, not evidence. Please look up the research before investing money into any therapy. This young man would likely have improved with or without this therapy.
Iʻm sorry, but Iʻm going to have to disagree with this comment. My brother had a TBI back in 1996. Four years after that, he was fortunate to receive about 2 months of hyperbaric oxygen. ONLY THEN, did his seizures permanently stop which resulted in the permanent removal of Tegretin and Dilantin.
My brother had a TBI in ʻ96. 4 years after that he was fortunate to get HBOT. ONLY AFTER THAT, his seizures permanently stopped. He was even able to answer questions with a YES about his past. treatment stopped and he couldnʻt respond. He had the same progress as Kurt.
I don't really see it as false hope. I believe that people are so quick to be skeptics, but at the same time, I do believe that the brain will heal on it's own accord. My boyfriend's current brain injury, axonal shearing, has been healing wonderfully with inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. When his mother asked the neurosurgeon about HBOT, he simply replied that the treatment is a bit controversial, and he didn't seem enthusiastic about it. But Curt does look wonderful, so, you never know
The controvery, I believe, is in the newness of the therapy. I have personally seen fantastic results as a dive medical technician and owner of Hyperbaric Solutions, LLC. I have had the opportunity to work with some truley heroic doctors who are willing to stake their reputation on what they believe and are proving works. I hope time will continue to show the successes of HBOT.
Yeah, I'm rehabilitating from axonal sheering too, made a lot of improvement now but still a long way to go. I have found you have to do a combination of many many different things and everything adds, eventually the acumulation becomes significant. My injury was nothing like as bad as what this guy is going through but still very debilitating. When I mentioned HBOT to my neurologist, she thought it could be useful. Good also for awakening dormant neurons.
I would like give that guy a hug when he was in the worst situation possible he didnt give up and made great progress thats inspiration for us all good luck on the rest of your recovery and god bless
If you think it will be easy to get treated, as your medical practictioner (in North America). 99% of them will ignore the request, deny its effectiveness and stall... They really do NOT want anyone taking this as a therapy. (They don't control it, and by supporting its use it cuts into their profits.)
That's avesome! Everyone is going to get better! I want to try it myself. I may have some minimal brain dysfunction... How would I know?(I may have some minimal brain dysfunction)
HBOT is no joke... I have seen some amazing things here in Michigan working with people using HBOT... The Oxygen Revolution is a great book also if anyone is interested in learning more.. get a copy
this is yet another example of what people going to fight for Bush, Cheney & their oil tycoons in other countries can look forward to. struggling to regain what was taken from them and the thousands killed & maimed in countries Bush invaded for more oil & political profits & influence. Thanks Bush & Cheney - traitors that they are.
Access to HBOT for brain-injury is blocked by democrat-created Medicare policy (see cms.hhs dot gov/transmittals/Downloads/r164cim.pdf and oxyhealth dot com/images/noncovered.pdf). Medicare is part of Social Security (SSI). SSI was created by Franklin Roosevelt, who died in 1945 from a stroke suffered at Warm Springs, Georgia. Despite obvious HBOT efficacy, if FDR were alive and suffered another stroke in Warm Springs, the policy of his own program would kill him today.
wow thats amazing. Wheres the tissues?! im in tears lol. I remember those days of intensive physiotherapy, drs asking to stand with feet together, walking "just two more steps" "can you get on this" I am so proud of you and your family for pursuing your recovery this makes my heart so happy for you!!! I'm sure its hard at times, but stick with it and never let go. I am praying for you and for Jesus to bless you with as you walk with him. xXx Love Hazel xXx
I had a loved one who suffered a severe TBI in october 2006. He was in a coma for 3.5 months. I have been so frustrated that the lack of resources. I spent months researching TBI and I cannot believe this is the first time I am seeing this. Very remarkable if in fact these strides are due to HBOT.
This is an extremely inspiring video. Way to go Kurt! I hope you have continued to recover! I'm totally fascinated by your progress, congratulations on your improvement.
WOW! that recovery is amazing. i have read quite a bit about HBOT, about results of the rat studies and some other literature. i think there is quite a bit of evidence that shows that it is extremely helpful. curt is very happy by the end of the video, i feel really bad for him. hope the recovery continues.
Curt is a real hero! But, it is hard to say that the treatment shown in the video effected his awesome recovery. in fact, many people with brain injury have shown similar progressive recovery patterns without HBOT treatment. the window of spontanous recovery from brain injury is 2+ years. i hope this helped him, but i am not convinced HBOT is the magic pill. sorry for being a skeptic
Yes sir, recovery is spontaneous without HBOT. I know as I have had three. Two severe and one mild. I feel that HBOT will drastically improve the recovery in all applicable TBIs. Defining what applicable is will be the hard part.
Its very hard to know if the HBOT treatment is affective. Case studies are just that, one case with no control. Perhaps trials with rats can shed light on its effectiveness? My son has a TBI and is still recovering 12 years later. Its tough. The recovery is long and we cannot say for sure if its recovery or maturity? Good luck
The animal study has been published, also by Dr. Harch. Go to pubmed dot gov and do a keyword search on Harch hyperbaric rat and you'll find "Hyperbaric oxygen therapy improves spatial learning and memory in a rat model of chronic traumatic brain injury." [Brain Res. 2007 Oct 12;1174:120-9. Epub 2007 Aug 16.]
I had seen the show you speak of, some patients recovering but some not. They recovered from their injuries, but the ones that recovered showed improvement right away. This is a totally different ball park.
Wow, I wish that I had access to hyperbaric treatment during my rehab. I had heard of it, a few years ago and wanted to give it a try (I thought then & still think it would help out with the Ataxia on my left side) but, alas, the monetary issue was & is too great!
Amazing what we can do with the things Jesus has given to us.

The US medical system stinks. Hyperbaric should be allowed and paid for by ins. for so many other conditions that they cover.
One can have system same as one with diabetes which would be covered & if they don't have diabetes they won't pay.
One is neuropathy from from lyme disease and a skin cond. from lyme which one gets horrible ulcers similar to leprosy.

I suspect it has more to do with government/insurance payment regulations than the progress/needs of the patients.

does anybody know what actually caused his injury?
kingcrimson234 1 year ago 2
@kingcrimson234
a motor vehicle accident was the cause of his tbi.

Update on Curt? He is driving, has a full time job, has his own apt, he is still cheerful and delightful. He walks in joyful gratitude :-)

hbotruth 2 years ago
Dr Harch has 7 more funded slots available for people with TBI/PTSD who have been exposed to IEDs (explosions, blast injuries). Curt Allen is doing very well, he has recovered to the point where he is driving again, has a job, and his own apartment. Thank you all for you kind posts and loving messages to him. Dr Harch's current study is thru LA State Univ Health Sci Cntr. He also treats private patients. If you know of someone who has sustained a TBI feel free to call us to discuss 504 309-4948
NYCJuliette 2 years ago
Wow! That was amazing! Why isn't this avaliable to other people in the war. Or is it? Great video! :)
sourpatchtkids 2 years ago 2

This is why the insurance companies are hesitant to pay for HBOT.
idadho 2 years ago
Hyperbaric chambers can be used for so much more than just decompression/diving accidents. Imagine doing major surgery, transplants, open heart surgery, etc. and virtually eliminate blood loss. One problem is there aren't all that many chambers available, and most aren't large enough for more than a couple people sitting down. They also do wonders for victims of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Jackle61 2 years ago
How much do these treatments cost?
Will Medicare pay?
One of the worst injustices is that TBI's have to wait 2 yrs 5 mos after the injury before Medicare.
If your State doesn't Waive the usual poverty income limit for Medicaid, there is no way to pay for needed treatments and meds.
macpduff 2 years ago
$200 per treatment. If you are a veteran or active military you may be eligible for funded treatment.
NYCJuliette 2 years ago
@macpduff When a patient prepays for 10 sessions, the clinic I visit in Los Angeles charges $60 per 50-minute session. A similar clinic in San Diego charges $40 per session if a patient prepays for 10 sessions.
I recently started mild-pressure (1.3 atm) HBOT for heavy metal toxicity and PTSD. After the first session I felt amazing, and the effects are cumulative. Even just for wellness and well-being this therapy is superb.
TheLastYogurt 1 year ago
Well is this treatment is so fantastic why hasn't it been submitted for testing by a third party, and if it has, why hasn't it been accepted by the medical community at large?
I can see only two scenarios...
Ether:
The practitioners are private profiteers, worse than any drug company ever.
Or the therapy just does not work.
If it has been submitted for testing by a third party then I can only presume it just didn't work better than a controle...
Anyway, it's not a good idea to support it.

my friend is having it done in randolph ma, they can charge anywhere from $150 to $1500 and hour..the patient is usually in the hbot chamber for 2 hours
deerodd07 2 years ago
Wrong. 2 hours is too much for brain injury.
Please be careful, posting misinformation, the wrong protocol might cause damage to someone. Oxygen under pressure acts as a drug. As with any medication you must administer the correct dose in order to get optimum results, and by all means do no harm. An over dose of HBOT causes oxygen toxicity. Be careful.

"What effect is HBOT supposed to have exactly?"
A simple sense of deduction would suffice. I would advise you to apply logical deduction, such as the rest of humanity applies given certain circumstances.
I would suggest you undergo the treatment to aid your neurological development, as your ability for empathy seems that it may be compromised.
biggesthitter 2 years ago

Somebody tell me where I can get some help if not from my son doctor.
stevemyke 3 years ago 5

Is that right should I have been clearing my ears from the start of the pressure?
bmwguy21 3 years ago 3

Not to mention, this video is not posted by an unbiased party, this is from the Doctor "selling" HBOT and probably raking in the cash!
jenfoor11 3 years ago
Dr. Harch does not own the clinic where he treats his patients with HBOT. The patients receive HBOT and pay for it at cost, as determined by clinic owners. The typical cost is $150/treatment, which is less than 10% of the usual fee charged by hospitals (> $1500/treatment) Dr. Harch does not receive anything for their treatments but does charge a consulting fee of $250 per patient.
davidfreels 3 years ago
So the typical cost is $150/treatment. which is less then 10% usual fee charged by hospital. O.K your words. Then you go on to say,Dr.Harch does not receive anything. Your not making sence. He is paying or he's not paying, He can't do both.

Iʻm sorry, but Iʻm going to have to disagree with this comment. My brother had a TBI back in 1996. Four years after that, he was fortunate to receive about 2 months of hyperbaric oxygen. ONLY THEN, did his seizures permanently stop which resulted in the permanent removal of Tegretin and Dilantin.

davidfreels 3 years ago
I don't really see it as false hope. I believe that people are so quick to be skeptics, but at the same time, I do believe that the brain will heal on it's own accord. My boyfriend's current brain injury, axonal shearing, has been healing wonderfully with inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. When his mother asked the neurosurgeon about HBOT, he simply replied that the treatment is a bit controversial, and he didn't seem enthusiastic about it. But Curt does look wonderful, so, you never know
acolon31 2 years ago
The controvery, I believe, is in the newness of the therapy. I have personally seen fantastic results as a dive medical technician and owner of Hyperbaric Solutions, LLC. I have had the opportunity to work with some truley heroic doctors who are willing to stake their reputation on what they believe and are proving works. I hope time will continue to show the successes of HBOT.
patrickmcdiver 2 years ago
Yeah, I'm rehabilitating from axonal sheering too, made a lot of improvement now but still a long way to go. I have found you have to do a combination of many many different things and everything adds, eventually the acumulation becomes significant. My injury was nothing like as bad as what this guy is going through but still very debilitating. When I mentioned HBOT to my neurologist, she thought it could be useful. Good also for awakening dormant neurons.
This guy is doing very well!

Despite obvious HBOT efficacy, if FDR were alive and suffered another stroke in Warm Springs, the policy of his own program would kill him today.

kingcrimson234 4 years ago
Curt is a real hero! But, it is hard to say that the treatment shown in the video effected his awesome recovery. in fact, many people with brain injury have shown similar progressive recovery patterns without HBOT treatment. the window of spontanous recovery from brain injury is 2+ years. i hope this helped him, but i am not convinced HBOT is the magic pill. sorry for being a skeptic
nealflannery 4 years ago
1. Please provide a reference for spontaneous recovery in brain injury.
2. Is spontaneous recovery possible without oxygen.
davidfreels 4 years ago
Yes sir, recovery is spontaneous without HBOT. I know as I have had three. Two severe and one mild. I feel that HBOT will drastically improve the recovery in all applicable TBIs. Defining what applicable is will be the hard part.
The biggest key to recovery is to never give up.
Coalbunny 4 years ago
Its very hard to know if the HBOT treatment is affective. Case studies are just that, one case with no control. Perhaps trials with rats can shed light on its effectiveness? My son has a TBI and is still recovering 12 years later. Its tough. The recovery is long and we cannot say for sure if its recovery or maturity? Good luck
