@dextroxity19 - Are you trying to say that Mick Ronson isn't dead? Sadly you are wrong - he died of cancer in 1993 at the age of just 46. Feritsbum is quite correct in what he/she says and is far from being an idiot!
@ballls508 I'm a huge Mick Ronson fan.He played with the greats. He was on Elton John's, "Madman Across the Water", he worked with Ian Hunter and Mott The Hoople. One of my favorites,he recorded with a lot of great musicians. Loved his sound.
@BarakatLove - hey, when your friends mature.... they will realise that you were so cool so young - believe me, if they have taste they too will come to love Bowie! I've been listening to him for 40 years and will never tire!
@MCmnbvgyuio I don't really think they sound similar, but I think I may hear what she's hearing. It's when he sings "And I'm phoning a cab, 'cause my stomach feels small..." it sounds kind of like "Now I'm falling asleep, and she's calling a cab..." in Mr. Brightside, right?
I actually think Of Montreal's "My British Tour Diary" is a more direct ripoff, though...
bowie n ronson, what a fantastic combination-fkn brilliant song, surely 2 of the most creative and cool dudes ever to strap on a guitar..bring it on bitch !!!
@121ziggystardust ....most underrrated british rock artist ever...do you remember "images" l.gnome, london boys etc...absolutely the most innotive artist in the history of english rock..joe strummer might come a close second....mick ronson, trevor bolder lived in HULL, n Bowie just useed to show up in between dates...amazing real;ly
Bowie's one of the absolute greatest artists ever. His voice has so many different qualities to it, it's amazing. His lyrics are pure genius, just artistry. Everything about this man is perfect or damn near to it.
The fact that this was made when it was made puth all britopo into a new context. if they aint ripping off thr Breatles then they are ripping off this or they are prog rock or something like that.....
@Incudius Obviously because all the band was a group of genious, but if you want versatility in just a artist, no one can't match David Bowie's acomplishment, he was more as a influence because he play a lot more genres that queen, so, Queen is the Best band of rock, but not the best of experimental issues, so, sorry if i make you see something that you can't understand, KID
@riaru12 although it appears that english is not your first language there are a few notable errors in your comments such as "genius " "no one CAN match" "more of AN influence" "more diverse than Queen" "Queen were the best rock band" i think this is what you were trying to say ( i hope this helps) personally i prefer Bowie
@teddywah stop reading lyrics written by retards and use your listening skill's , the correct term is " bibbly bobbly hat " a bobble hat was fashion item in britain the late sixties and in the early seventies ( the song was used on the closing credits for "the damned united" a film about Brian clough) although i'm not sure he was big in america/canada and you've probably never heard of him
@ThePinkLloyd Spot on, and it was only recently that I found out that he actually offered "Drive In Saturday" as a follow up to All The Young Dudes and they turned it down. Would have been interesting to hear Hunter sing that one
SHS David Bowie Is a lot better than Justin beiber thats for shure.Any person who uses computers to fix their voice can't sing thats why David bowie is better than Justin beiber he also sings better to.
@darkrobot12 Well that's becouse bowie is a musician who actually writes his music himself. He's also writen for The Velvet Underground and Iggy Pop among others. Bowie OWNS!
@CroTube5000 yeah well evry singer/songwriter gets their inspiration from other pop/rock thats out there.Bowie is a great pop/rock songwriter ,better than Reed if you ask me.LouReed let junk fuck him up too much it def. messed with his songwriting instead of spurring it on'
I like your discussion with CroTube5000, and must agree with you, all songs, tunes, recycled over the years, every major act, solo performer had too do this to get noticed, and by the way did,nt Bowie discover Lou Reed.?? Just a thought.
@pwcf5 yeah, tday record companies just want 'original' material, while forgetting how mant artists got their recording start or first hit with a 'cover' song. They forget that artists need nurturing .Not to mention most bands today lack the musicianship to even 'cover' a good song or write a great song. The fast buck still rules.
I've seen several songs from this taped session (BBC? OGWT?) Who can tell me if there is a long form DVD of this, and/or what is the name. Every one of the performances, the sound and the video are stupendous!
theres an 80s grunge band called green river that covered this song, and i heard their version first. both versions are really kickass, i have to thank the genre of grunge for turning me onto david bowie with all the bowie covers that green river, nirvana, and alice in chains played.
