The Toasters? Classic ska? Don't make me fucking laugh Bucket wishes he was in a classic ska band.. If you don't know shit about West-Indian music, don't pretend like you do and spread misinformation. By all means, feel free to listen, but leave the facts to people who know what they are talking about.
@Crazymike00 First off dipshit, do your homework before you even verbally bash something that you know not a whole lot of to begin with. There has been great/amazing ska bands, and ska/punk, ska/reggae, ska/rap genres. Obviously you know nothing about cali, because if you did and are a rudeboy, then you should know the Uptones started it in cali, then we have Fishbone, Operation Ivy, Sublime, The Skeletones, Old school No doubt, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Old school Rancid...
@Crazymike00 Lets go bowling, Skankin Pickle, and old school goldfinger, Those are/were the best bands out this way, i suggest you listen and learn about the west coast kid... and yeah there were a few shitty bands(Reel Big Fish, hippos, aquabats, Dance Hall crashers), but more positive than negative and definetly more influential in the third wave ska movement like the toasters(who started it the same time Uptones) and bosstones. Skinheads are more into the punk scene nowadays, not ska anymore!
@EWadda83 Just gonna put this out there. all of those bands you listed are mostly ska/punk. dont get me wrong i love me some Op-Ivy, but they are in no way Ska like the Toasters are ska.
@hippiedippyd if you read my comments right, i listed different genres of ska as well as classic ska like the toasters, there were only 3 names out of 9 that are ska/punk, thats not most of the artists and if you know ska you'll know the artists that are strictly ska in those bands, some did do ska/punk songs, or even an album, but that doesn't make them ska/punk genre 100% completely
they started exactly....but sold out in the end and decided to do what everyone else did to make more money, playing and coming up with new things with a vague message, or i should say, a message thats been expressed many times already by other bands, thats why i like thy're old stuff better, because it was different, and something creative that no one had heard yet, those are masterpieces to any musician that can come out with a good message like that
mm ya i do know it, pretty well actually, aqua bats, no doubt, reel big fish, all examples of shitty west coast ska, the only marginally redeeming west coast band is the aggrolites and even there shit compared to the toasters, westbound train, Hubcity stompers... Oh and if your a rudeboy youd know my other problem. Ska is the music of skinheads. has been, always will be. Skinheads are working class. THERE'S NO FUCKING WORKING CLASS IN CALi. Just fake ass people who dont have an ounce of pride.
specials version is way better, gwen stefani, your a sell out! Coming back now after all your solo bullcrap. You forgot those ska roots 3 albums ago, should have always kept it alive to be true to your roots
@ EWadda83 wtf? have you listen her solo album very well? she have the same creative lyrics not about sex like everyone do and still have ska/reggae/dancehall/ragga stuff on her albums.
ummm yeahh, but its nothing new that i haven't heard before, its not creative, its been done before, if you know anything about ska and reggae, you would understand its nothing new, and especially their roots out back here in riverside and anaheim in so cali where i'm from, back when they were playing with the skeletones, my pops band, she stabbed the whole ska and reggae theme in the back years ago with the skeletones, ancient history out here in the IE.
and for her to even play ska is a slap in the face for those who supported her in her hometown, and to sell out what she used to believe in, fuck that, thats two-faced, no respect for musicians who don't keep it true...
@negrophiliac I know that they are more than tragic kindom, I like some songs of before they were famous like Trapped In The Boz, Doormat, Move On, Snakes, Open The Gate and Doghouse...is just that more of their fans are 90's teenager people like me that listen Don't Speak and get caught by them...I just go more deep than that cause I really like them.

thats an offence for ska ! Such a great song played by this band :/

this band started out as a two-tone ska band in the 80's..... i think they have more of a right to play the song than other third-wave ska bands.
