Kevin Steen is one of the last few wrestlers who wrestles such a style where he genuinely looks like he could kill his opponents in the ring, such an amazing performer,
First saw this guy in ROH and, like Davey Richards, I think it would have been better to just let him wrestle fast-paced matches rather than over-play his semi(and later full) heel character.
Yet another excellent wrestler to come out of Canada, and one of the few big wrestlers who could move like he's half his actual weight(in a way, like the longest reigning ROH World Champion). Someone his size can not only do the 450, but make it look easy.
If this guy is so great why hasn't TNA or WWE picked him up? Easy to answer. His finishers are dangerous. One blown set up and somebody gets a broken neck, is paralyzed, or dies.
@MrMKH2010 well besides that, he hasn't shown stuff that would be great for WWE's pacing. However, since his generico feud in ROH, he has played the most convincing maniacal heel in indies. All while putting some great wrestling. Sadly I don't know how his knee fares, which is another reason why he's been ballooning up.
@ZehFiend It depends on what you are talking about, You can, although now adays most moves which people think of have been used, although when I Posted that comment I Didnt think, Still it depends, lets say if someone, who known by few used n original move, and then someone who saw that move thought "Hey that would be good for my GImmick/ Or just a good move" And used that move without permission from the original creator. and imagine if the person who used the move First was a LOT Less known
@AppDicted That's different, and horribly disrespectful. Top dogs using moves they saw on the indies is highly looked down upon. Except for Orton apparently, thank god he only used the Billy Goat's curse once. If he regularly put that in his repertoire, that would be horrible.
@ZehFiend On the subject or Orton, he also Used a different variation of the Ace Crusher, and is now if you ask any WWE Only Fans, The Original user of the move, That would be stealing and Theft as I Believe he has not once Given Credit to the creator of the move, still It is very possible to steal a wrestling move, and I Know my original comment here, was very noob like, but then I Was Just not very familiar with Steen. sorry for that comment, but it is possible to steal a move.
@ZehFiend yes he may of done that, but HAS Orton once mentioned Ace's name, no, and that can be considered Theft, "Stealing an Object or an Idea and taking Credit for it" Although he has never fully taken credit for it, It can still be considered as Theft
@AppDicted It's a different situation, Ace wanted it to become Orton's move. I don't mean to correct you but in a radio interview, Orton said "Diamond Dallas Page would like to take all the credit for the RKO but in reality it was Johnny Ace."
@ZehFiend and With that the guy who used the move without permission was known as the creator of the move, id be pretty pissed off if I Was the person who ACTUALLY Created it and I Would COnsider it Stealing my move especially as they didnt even ask you for permission to use it, that I Would classify as stealing a wrestling move, so please dont say it was A "Stupid Comment" When you dont look into it. it is very possible to steal a wrestling move.
@AppDicted You cant steal in wrestling if that was true then EVERY wrestler is stealing how many do suplexes, scoop slams etc regluar moves like that and who ever made them moves i dont see wrestlers saying "its ok we asked for permission from so and so to use it blah blah" you cant steal if that was true like i said before EVERYONE is stealing then.
Damn, I've never seen some of these moves before! He's a killer! You don't see enough big guys with agility like this. what a badass :D Also barely saw Tommy Mercer's finisher the other night. Some innovative stuff!
Steen wont go to WWWE he slagged the way they use talent. Plus who would work with the guy taker. I think tna should use him as they have heels but not heels who know how to act heels.
he will kill somebody one day. some moves i like, like the double arm piledriver but doin off the top is fucking stupid. another thing is the so called steenalizer is gotta be the most unsafe move ever. when he does it into the turnbuckle he almost breaks the dudes neck. i gurantee u wont ever see this kevin steen in wwe. have fun on the independent circuit bud cause u aint goin nowhere!!
Considering he's used the majority of these moves for years now without killing anyone or nearly doing so, I think it's safe to say that his style may look dangerous and reckless, but Steen isn't a liability. That's not to say something can't happen, but in all honesty, anything can happen on any given move.
@TheSuicidalDragon so because he hasn't killed anyone, that makes it absolutely fine? regardles of the danger of the moves they are still stupid. all ten of these moves could be a finisher for anyone, yet he uses many of them as set up moves. it's shit like that which trivialises indie wrestling.
@bmac10112 Uh...any move could injure or kill someone. Yeah, these moves look dangerous, but someone could get injured by a suplex if it's done wrong.
How many of the 10 moves in this video do you think WWE would allow him to do? He needs to learn how to work without relying on ridiculously dangerous moves that hurt people.
How do you know that? Wrestlers are injured all the time. In any case, there is no way he could do these moves on guys who had to wrestle 4-5 times a week. It's not the indies where guys just work a few times a month for fun.
Wrestling is supposed to be a work. Wrestlers that can do nothing and get over are far better workers than wrestlers that need to do risky moves putting themselves and their opponents at risk.
Wrestling is a dangerous sport. I agree that some of Steen's signature moves are riskier, but at the same time, the same sort of injury can happen with virtually any move. Hell, Bruno Sammartino's in-ring career was effectively destroyed by a botched Bodyslam.
@TheSuicidalDragon i believe that, but the body slam is also a very dangerous move. If you don´t put your hand around the neck, (which many wrestlers are forgetting) then he can easly land on his head
Holy shit, this guy can do everything. If he'd add some good submissions to his arsenal he'd be able to challenge Danielson for the role of best wrestler in the world.
there are moves in there that he doesn't even perform anymore, at least not in roh, like the sidewinder suplex, or the steenalizer, OR the go home driver! good stuff.
are you serious your just gunna argue with everything i say i know all dude and what im saying is if these wrestlers keep taking the bumps to the head for years and years than well they will end up like misawa and its fucking sad dude i know misawa didnt just get one hit to the head and die but concussions are serious things
I'm not arguing anything. In fact, you make a perfect point here, in that it's taking the headbumps for years on end that ended Misawa's life. A lot of people have pointed the blame on the final move he took, which certainly wasn't the sole cause of his death, nor was it any specific move.
@minicat14 Stand to the left of your opponent, place your left arm under there left leg and grab there right elbow or wrist. Then, place your right arm on there right hip (or shoulder if you want them dropped head first) and bend around 45 degrees forward. Swing them 90 degrees to the left and then use the momentum to swing them 270 degrees to the right and fall on your back dumping them on there higher back/neck/head. Hope its useful :) Chainsawproof99
I remember seeing him live in December at ROH in VA,he was incredible especially since he looks to have gained some extra pounds since when these clips were taken.Steen deserves to be ROH champ soon.
In a normal piledriver a guy might have a chance to break the fall - look at the Package Piledriver. The guy is over 3 ft off the mats, his arms and legs tied up by Steen. The guy is completely at Steen's mercy - and Steen drives his head through the mats. Awesome!
Steen is a master a taking on more than 1 opponent and leaving each of them spreadeagled or butt up in the ring - demolished. His Package Piledriver at 1:20 takes this move to a new level - Mr. Wrestling!
Jesus Christ. That's the first time I've seen the Steenalizer and it's a sick move. His Avalanche Package Piledriver is pretty sick too. For a bigger dude, Steen can do some crazy stuff, and he is an awesome wrestler.
I like to refer to Kevin Steen as the white D'Lo Brown, in that they have pretty much the same bodytype, yet they move around the ring like Junior Heavyweights.
Steen is fucking sick, and such a nice guy. I had never seen him pull off a 450, is there nothing he can't do? And I just love watching him throw that no talent Kenny The Bastard head first into the corner
This Top Ten has been through a HUGE overhaul, but it's definitely for the better. Kevin Steen is the consummate all-around competitor. I mean, anyone at his size who can possess such dynamic aerial prowess gets my vote.
If I ever wish to face him I'll have my work cut out for me.
