  • If this would happen now, only few people would've danger their own lives to clean the mess.

  • @Tervaification

    Depends on the country.

  • Uncle served there during evacuation

  • What happened? :o

  • At 1:50, is this snow, or ash from the fires in the reactor? (I am clueless on Chernobyl, I am just researching it..)

  • @SoniaIsAwesome It was not snowing the day that the explosion occurred in reactor 4, but although there certainly was dust and ash rising from the core, that does not seem to be what is captured at 1:50 - the flickering in the sky seems to be a combination of film grain (likely due to radiation damage) and compression artifacts.

  • at 2:48 is the camera man is really in the destroyed reactor?:O I am shocked.

  • Comment removed

  • @daikarasuro close enough but I think he is in the turbine hall next to the reactor hall. That couldn't be the reactor hall since the entire roof was destroyed but the reactor lid, this looks to be a small hole.

  • @ 6:08 he does appear to be filming into the reactor hall though as the area looks pretty much ruined. I would guess this was after the attempt to smother the core since there in no smoke.

  • @aardon22 There has been more good out of all those things then bad... This is one of few times something like this has happened. Do you not remember the coal mining accident in chile? All forms of power have risks....

  • everyone who speaks about what a heroes those eliminators were, shut the fuck up, they didnt even know they were going to die, they were told that they would be fine and there is no danger

  • I just saw Antony burdain made a trip to that city!!!

  • @katrin261 Yes I was really grossed out by the radioactive stew containing beef and tomatoes contaminated with Ceasium and Strontium! He was a brave man eating a plate-full of that anyway!!

  • 50 thousand people used to live here, now its a ghost town.

  • @ Very True.

  • @DempseyBloom Shut up your wrong.

  • God be mercieful to those who have died in chernobyl

  • my god what will save us now? this is such a terrible yet educational video. God bless you, soviet troops, workers and scientists who responded to this event, especially the first responder firefighters from prypet . GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILies! so sad! i just wish the world would learn from this the power of nuke energy!

  • @sonofthesouth11 "i just wish the world would learn from this the power of nuke energy" and yet nuclear power is still safer and more efficient than any other forms of energy.... you need to have a chernobyl every 5 months to have the same death rate as coal and oil....

  • @MrDroopdog1 That is a lie, you know no facts. Secret USSR files revealed the death toll was most likely in the millions. Nobody dies from coal and oil accidents, so show me your proof. Einstein stated that Nuclear energy was not entirely safe. May be more efficient, but no way more safer. What is more cheaper, safe and efficient, is Wind Turbines, Geothermal Plants etc. Why not invest in these methods for the future, because Uranium is not renewable. A Chernobyl every 5 Months. PLEASE!

  • @DempseyBloom wrong, every year nearly 800 thousand die in coal/oil factorys, wind turbines are actually MORE destructive to the earth than nuclear energy (they interuppt bird migration and seed/pollen movement) and wind turbines don't produce enough power. to power the city of new york you need a wind turbine farm of 200 miles. get the fuck off and research this shit instead of looking like a bloody retard.

  • @MrDroopdog1 How can 800000 people die in Coal Production, it would be on the news everyday. I have many coal mines around me, and we do not hear of any accidents. Coal Production into Electricity is simple. Burning the coal, contain the heat to boil water, use the steam to drive turbines. How could that kill 800000 people a year? You are joking me. Yes, people are injured or killed in Coal Mining, but not coal production

  • @MrDroopdog1 And, where i live, there are many wind turbines, and if you only knew the benefits, maybe you would understand. When strategically placed, the wind turbines would not be of any annoyance to the bird kind. Continual use and development of renewable sources of energy, such as; Wind Turbines, Geothermal, Tidal etc, could only mean in the future we find more efficient and sufficient ways of using this energy. Uranium is not renewable also, so it only tells us to invest in renewables.

  • It's interesting to see the different grain of the film @ 4:58, knowing that it's dark and sepia toned because of excessive exposure of the negative which came from the high levels of radiation. This is the same color film from the beginning, but the radiation likely caused the discoloration. Sad!

  • Incredible story. I'm British and some of my favourite people from the last century were soviets who fought for humanity, irrelevant of which side. The virtues shown by the people of ukraine to protect the rest of europe, to take responsibility, to do what had to be done, i think about it often. I look forward to visiting kiev and chernobyl to show my respect.

  • I think nuclear plants is the worst and stupidest thing that human kind has ever created besides guns, rifles and what not.

  • @aardon22 you think guns are stupid? well good luck at zombie apocalypse

  • I want to get this straight for some people here there were two reasons Chernobyl exploded one there was a design flaw and two they turned off the cooling systems and then restarted the reactor then put the rods in too fast which causes extreme heat thus ending in an explosion.

  • The Liquidators were some very brave souls indeed. I bet not even the bravest of people these days would do something like that.

  • poor russia :(

  • My father used to live in chernobyl he said that when the radioactivity set in they where evacuated and he said he saw a lot of dead deformed people lying on the street

  • wow, this was a tragic horrendus loss of life, i live in nevada, we have yucca mountain which has already blown, i still dont understand why we cant learn, control & harness nuclear energy before using it. i could place 1 windmill in my back yard & my electirc company would have to pay ME for excess power, so why do we have to first research & use something so deadly?

  • Soviet firemans are hero... I know their stories.. Anyway, nuclear reactors are very danger. Just think, Germany said "we leave nuclear energy about 2012" 3 months ago. Germany have got big industrial capacity. If germany can this, all other countries can too.. Just wind, waves, jeotermal or something natural, we can. This is not hard.

  • Nuclear energy is a god send. What happened here was nothing but human error. Though it is tragic, it shouldn't be used as an argument against nuclear energy

  • @MellowFellowOfYellow - it should be used as an arguement - until we can handle radiation and dangerous radioactive events SAFELY we can not handle nuclear reactors until that time. This area, which encompases citys near the reactors will be lethally radioactive for thousands of years. The danger if far far too great!

  • Google "The Battle of Chrenobyl" for more

  • I wonder if they knew of the danger, but none the less brave men and womem!

  • I am thanking the human's who gave their life to protect the other parts of the world. These men and woman deserve respect....If it wasn't patched up by these brave people, We would still most likely be facing radiation problems in russia today.

Japan, Knows the dangers of radiation....But, The people who are working on fixing it should be given respect too...

They are giving their lives away just to protect all of us....I cannot believe some of the rasict people that want them to die.

  • Great film footage, one of the best ever. Thanks for posting this.

  • Who will pay to Ukraine for Chernobyl damage? Moscow?

  • the dolls are sooo creepy thir the worsst part

  • A real good movie. Too bad it is real.

  • Revelation 8:10-11.the third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water-the name of the star is worm-wood.a third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.

  • Ask me about chernobyl. I know lots.

  • Here is a short newspaper announcement of his death:

    h t t p : / / tinyurl . com / 5s5e3x3

    (be sure to remove spaces)

  • @GoIndyGal The death date in that story contradicts the one in this film's narrative.

  • Average exposure was 10R/hr!!! 10 Roentgen = 119.3 rem per HOUR. Just to show you how bad that is....the average exposure worldwide is 1-2 rem per year. The international law, Maximum Permissible Dose for x-ray exposure is 5 rem/calendar year. These guys were getting nearly 25X over the safe limit of exposure in one hour alone. I'd like to see one of these men still alive!

  • If this was his last video, how did they get the film? Last time I checked nuclear reactor explosions melt anything it runs into.

  • I was just a kid in Yugoslavia (now Serbia) when this happened and everybody were saying that kids should not play outside. We (kids) couldn't understand the concern of the parents. Everybody were saying 'Chernobyl' and for me that was just some word. Today I just feel extreme sadness, sorrow and emotional pain for those people. How helpless we are. They gave their lives to help others by stopping the spread of disaster and nobody could help them. A horror. ;,,,(

  • @Xeramach The sadest was that the goverment didn't even worn the hero's that went there to help like those poor heli pilots D: there heli crashed from a malfunction caused by the radiation...

  • 25 years today....

  • Great film thanks fior posting

  • it had soundtrack before!!! "Era" as far as i can remember. What bloody happened with it????

  • i consider vladimir shevchenko a moron for going in there without protective clothes

  • @TheXuanlong I consider you a moron for posting this. And shevchenko wasnt.

  • @TocTep Well said. No-one knew.

Никто не забьит и ничто не забьит.

    Rest in peace, heroes.

  • @TheXuanlong He wasn't told how high the radiation level was, all he knew was that it was another thing worth making a news story about, and probably didn't even know anything about radiation. All thanks to Soviet secrecy, they still wont acknowledge this mans death.

  • This is demonstrates what can happen when, one choses to hide from reality.

  • @stanedward Are u dumb???

  • @captainboy1335 hes trolling

  • Do you have to work with radiation and all that kind off stuff to go there or can you go on a trip there and they give you a special suit or whatever to protect you

  • @MrNintendo2010

    Yes indeed you can visit...

The exclusion zone now accepts tourists. However you can only stay a maximum of 1 hr in the zone. You have a chance to see the plant up close (like 50 metres away from front gates). However if your geiger counter reaches a certain number... it's time for you to leave.

A tour company operates bus trips from Kiev to Chernobyl for tourists. You are given safety equipment which is to be worn at all times while in the exclusion zone.

  • my brother was there a year ago omg ;l

  • Tooo Sad

  • we love to shit where we eat

  • I'm sure everyone in this film is dead now, just a horrible accident, and now the same thing is happening in japan.

  • @BlueFluidStudios yeah and, just like the Soviet Union, the Japanese government lies to its people about how dangerous the radiation level actually is

  • Wow quite a video.

  • Creepiest thing is that the people on the roof looks so alive, not any suffering yet, even though they all going to die.

  • I remember when this happened, i was worried, scared for the world, I remember thinking how heroic those people cleaning the mess were. those people gave there lives to minimise the inpact on the rest of the world. Now its happening again but this time theres little coverage from main stream media no projections on damge or radiation levels why? I have to YT evreything these days.

  • @me001ist

These men probably didn't volunteer to go and be liquidators. They would've been ordered. Chernobyl was in a socialist time, so you did whatever you were told to do by higher powers.

  • @Kingfordian22 Actually they DID all volunteer without having to be ordered to. This is an established fact ,by the way.

  • poor ukrainian men.. so many capable people died

  • wait im confused is chernoybl the name of the nuclear plant and pripyat was the town that was affected? please respond

  • @BobbleheadLuck No Chernobyl is the city it happened in and Pripyat is a town nearby that had to be evacuated from the fallout.

  • @heatfan527 so chernobyl and pripyat were both evacuated?

  • @BobbleheadLuck Yes, they were. In fact all villages in a 30 mile radius from the plant were evacuated

  • @BobbleheadLuck Chernobyl was the city where the nuclear plant was, pripyat was the village near chernobyl.

  • @BobbleheadLuck

chernobyl was a nuclear powerplant named after the town around it, pripyat was a town close to chernobyl

  • Why does everyone seem to only know this game from MW2? If u want to play a game about Chernobyl then play STALKER, it does a much better job recreating the visuals and mood of the entire city than COD. STALKER series will always beat COD any day even tho it's not as well known series.

  • 50,000 people used to live here...now it's a ghost city.

  • @GirlsCallMeZiffy In fact, it was a ghost TOWN. And please, stop spamming that cod bullshit all the time.

  • . Without all of those brave liquidators that risked their own lives to protect the world from radiation it would have been much worse with a second explosion. All of these men are heroes who unfortunately are not recognized as much today but we owe our lives to them.

  • Russians can be so fearless - damn.

  • the white sparks you see in some parts of the film are from EXTREMLY high radiation levels ruining the film. They look like pencil tip white dotes on the film. Anyone who filmed them are probably dead within weeks

  • I don't care wheter it's fake or not. It's a good video anyway, and shows no less of the damage radiation can cause..

  • This video is a lie. I've seen the same footage (not colourised and in black and white) presented as a series of films done by the KGB by several different cameramen over the course of several weeks.

  • @truekiwijoker

    "This video is a lie"

In what way? It's just a random collection of footage and pictures taken by a journalist.

  • @TheBoomViper As I've said, the part about it being done by a journalist. The footage is a colourised montage of KGB films and the story about a journalist meeting with the father of the author has just been fabricated.

  • @truekiwijoker

Hmm, it could be I guess. Mind you, there's a lot of untold facts in the Chernobyl disaster...

  • @truekiwijoker

they can use the same footage.. dosnt mean its not true

  • @0obalonis No, it DOES mean it's not true. It means this footage was taken by a KGB cameraman not the obviously invented filmmaker in the narrative.

  • IN SCIENTOLOGY YOU FIND THE SOLUTIONS TO THE RADIATIONS!!!

  • Well well look at "offamychains" posts. Going from vid to vid spreading your Scientology web of lies. So on the Miscavige dick aren't you? Pffft. Blow the cult....think for yourself.

  • @7stringSupression Sorry i mean LucianoPlz

  • @7stringSupression BASICALLY YOU WANT THE PEOPLE DIE OF CANCER CAUSED BY RADIATION??''!!?!!? YOU ARE A DERTY PIG !!

  • @LucianoPiz Scientology is a joke...just like you. It can't cure a pimple let alone cancer and it never has.Love the all caps thing though. You certainly have a lot of ARC. You represent Scientology perfectly...insane.

  • @7stringSupression you have the right name!! YOU ARE A SUPPRESSIVE PERSON!!! VERY EVIDENT ! LIKE YOU THERE IS 1,400 BILLION IN THE PLANET!!YOU ARE THE CANCER THAT WE WILL NOT CURE FOR SURE!!!AND FOR YOU THERE WILL BE NO ARC OF ANY KIND...BUT A CORD TO HANG YOU WITHOUT PITY BECAUSE YOU REPRESENT THE GARBAGE OF UMANITY ....A PERSON WHO FIGHT ACTIVELY SCIENTOLOGY DONT DESERVE ANYTING ELSE..BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT ONLY ENEMY OF SCIENTOLOGY BUT ENEMY OF THE ENTIRE MANKIND ,...INSANE -BULL SHITT !!!.

  • @LucianoPiz Dude your a fuckin idiot, nothing less.

  • @MilitiaHQ And you are a fucking kangaroo FROM AUSTRALIA !!

  • @LucianoPiz

Are you a fucking idiot or something?

  • @AnneHeroBWC :ugh...you know you just proved to almost every person in the world over the age of about 20, that you have absolutely no idea what's going on in this video & discussion. Isn't that a crap thing for others to know about you.

"Better to stay silent and have people just THINK you're ignorant, than to open your mouth & ........ " , you can probably finish that quote, I think so anyway.

  • this guys die because they dont know exist something called "purification roundown"wich should have ben done right after this dirty job;a scientology service based on intensive sauna exercise and vitamins, probably the only way you can handle radiations !!

  • @LucianoPiz said, " ....... a scientology service ....... "

Well, that pretty much let every single THINKING person in the entire world know that whatever "purification roundown" is ......... that it's actually pure 100% unsterilized Bull-Shit.

  • @offamychain you are one of the ...BOYS OF THE DARK SIDE...YOU LIKE A LOT THE OPPRESSION OF OTHERS!!!!!!! MY GOD! HOW MUCH THERE IS LIKE YOU IN THIS WORLD!!!! YOU DONT LIKE HELP OTHERS...TRUE??YOU FUCKHING BASTARD!! YOU BULL-SHITTT !!GO AND BURN IN HELL !!

  • @LucianoPiz

Uum, yeah, okay, thanks for your free mental exam. If I ever need a psych, I'll keep you in mind, rather than paying a real one a couple hundred $'s an hour. Sounds like you really know what you're taking about.

  • @offamychain you dont need me as a psych, there are many in your country for you ,you are not the kind of person i like to help!! i just said that the purification roundown ,and the narconon program are probably the only service who can handle radiation and are scientology services!! The fucking psichiatry i see they work good on earth population IN ORDER TO MAKE YOU THINK BAD ABOUT SCIENTOLOGY,THERE IS NOTHING BAD IN SCIENTOLOGY, ABSOLUT NOTHING BAD...JUST THEY LIE ABOUT IT!!

  • @LucianoPiz said, "THERE IS NOTHING BAD IN SCIENTOLOGY, ABSOLUT NOTHING BAD"

    Okay ....... sheep.

Don't bother replying again unless you just want to have the last word. I've tired of making fun of your words, so am done here. Have a nice day.

  • @LucianoPiz lol scientology is for faggots...

  • plus have you watched some of your old home movies lately? they are grainy and of poor quality as this, if not worse. This was back in 1986, no such thing as 'HD'. You kids who weren't even born before 1995 need to grow the hell up.

  • okay first of all, why does it matter if part of it was in black and white? It's called film making, every film-maker, knows how to do it, and does it well. If you actually went to college and took a film class, you would know this. Vladimir Shevchenko was a film maker, he wasn't just filming the accident, he was making a documentary. Cameras then and now have the option of recording in black and white. It's for affect tard.

  • @AnneHeroBWC As someone who bothered to watch this short film, why do you say it is fake? It is impossible to fake the Chernobyl reactor, and the soldiers in uniform lining up to do their bit.... This film is prescious and parts of it are quite famous. Believe me.. THIS IS REAL, I am just grateful that Vladimir Shevchenko was able to share this footage before he died. Do a little bit of research before making a judgement. All the best to you.

  • i suppose the "radiation" turned the color images into Black and white as well???

  • it happened in 1986 - there were color video cameras that consumers could buy everywhere - color tv and film has been around for DECADES - how is it there ANYTHING B/W when it comes to Chernobyl images from 1986 and after?

  • @tamlando said, " ... 1986 ... color video cameras that consumers could buy everywhere ... "

That's showing how little you know the Soviet Union. Equipment available outside of "important" sectors ... basically military, space program, KGB, & high government ... were 20 years behind rest of us. Where a common U.S. citizen could buy a state-of-the-art Hollywood camera if he could afford it, Soviet citizens outside of the above were lucky if they could get a piece of junk we'd have thrown away.

  • In some parts the footage has a lot of noise, is fuzzy, unclear and white. That was because of the radiation.

  • 1.5 Billion dollars to build a new sarcophagus. Send the bill to Russia.

  • I am suprised a mulibillionaire hasnt put the cash in for the new sacophagus, they would protect millions now and the future be honered in every country advertising would pay for maintenance and the billionaire would be remembered for ever! what ego would turn that down? I would do it! Save millions and millions of lives and protect from atrotious disfigurement and be made a saint! You think anyone or goverment would jump at the chance!

  • I'm bitter for them and their families, they were lied to and murdered by their own government basically. No one high up in Ukraine Russian gov died did they... just these poor people.

  • As for Vladimir what an idiot, it's not like this happened in 1920, any basic research into the risks of rolling up to a fresh nuclear reactor explosion would have told him it was a suicide trip. Interesting note, the head of engineering that night had already prosided

over a nuclear submarine accident in the 60s and was exposed to 200 times lethal dose even before this. This night he absorbed another 500 times and the dick still didn't die! Took him 4 years to peg it and then was of a heart a

  • @SteveLondonSky no need to be so bitter about it, these people still died trying to help.

  • I feel sad for these people and their families but the truth is most of the 'heroes' had no idea of what they were getting into here and most were under orders to go. The head of engineering at Chernobyl that night got 10 years. What did the 'officers' and politicians get for ordering these poor guys to their deaths, knowing they would die horribly.

  • timh kai do3a stous Hrwes!!!!

honor and glory to true Heroes!!!

  • i feel like i got a lethal dose of radiation by watching this video. Those "biorobots" are the most badass biorobots ive seen so far

  • @AnneHeroBWC You're a tool. this guy died from what was probably a very painful death. keep your stupid jokes to yourself. k thanks.

  • Fucking sad story. Props.

  • WOW ! Sad story for cameraman, but the film he made is a great lesson to man kind

  • God has punished the Russians for raping 2 million German Women in Berlin, and for murdering germans in Siberia.

  • @FoxtrotUniform23 germans deserved that and more....

  • this is really sad. RIP. their lives were sacrificed not only for their country, but also for the well being of mankind for generations to come. These are the true heroes

  • Heros.

    R.I.P.

  • I never saw that video, thanks for sharing, very good video, yet very sad...

May the world never forget this tragedy and it's heroes.

  • @AnneHeroBWC mmk. that was a pointless reply.

  • Uno de los videos más impresionantes que he visto en Youtube.

  • Yaba GABA bull shit jk but nice vid

  • Thanks for sharing this video!!!...

  • this was truly a sad incident. i would love to go and get a tour of chernobyl.

  • @chernobyl916 same but for the sake of my unborn babies i will not xD

  • Seriously? They Tried Making The Reactor Produce Power WITHOUT Having It On And In Order To Do So Took Some SAFTEY FEATURES And Excused Them. The Reactor Started Goin Nuts, And Once It Gets Past A Certain Point, Shit Happens. People In Japan Are Gettin Called Heros For Goin To The Unstable Reactor There. THEY AINT HEROS. THEY WERE TOLD TO DO SO. Same Thing Here.

  • @Hobbitchoker Free will, they know the danger, they cannot be ordered to go there, they are trying to save their nation by sacrificing their lives, they are indeed heroes in the truest sense of the word. How would you define a hero? Certainly not someone who demeans heroic actions via the interwebs.

  • @phuturephuture Oooooh So I Guess No Ones Ordered To Get A Job Or Anything. I Mean, Fuck. Since You Put It That Way Next Time I Shoot Up A Bank I Mind As Well Show The Police Your Comment And Say "You Cannot Order Me To Stop Or Order Me In A Prison Cell, This Guy Said So!" I Demean Heroic Actions? So What Am I? Ungreatful? Demonic? Horrible Person? WHEN YOU HAVE A JOB YOU ARE TOLD TO DO SOMETHING. THESE PEOPLE WERE TOLD TO DO SO! GET A FUCKIN LIFE AND YOU WOULD LEARN THAT! So Absord That Truth.

  • @Hobbitchoker Nope, no one is ordered to get a job. I have had jobs where they asked me to do things I didnt want to do, I chose to get another job. Being asked to do a job or being asked by the police to refrain from shooting people and robbing a bank are completely different things. Do your parents know that you talk complete nonsense on the internet? You are a complete fucking idiot, now fuck off!

  • @phuturephuture Not In Your Words. Ever Consider Others Cant Get Another Job? This Is Russia We Are Talking About. Or Did You Forget Where This Happend?

Ya They Know, Their Dead ANd Watchin. Thanks For Askin. You My Friend, Are The "complete fucking idiot." Maybe If You Start Thinking Outside The Box You'd Know Alot More Than What Your TV Tells You To Do.

  • @phuturephuture Oh, Also, Since A Good Majority Of Workers Druing The Clean-Up Appear To Be Military, They Had Orders. So Guess What? ORDERED TO DO SO. Hm..."Complete Fucking Idiot"

  • @phuturephuture Man, they sent firemans and young soldiers there and they didnt tell them truth about deadly danger. Even cameraman and reporter didnt know that there were fatal radiation and everyone on the first documentary tape died in few weeks or months including helicopter pilots, patrolling policemans all other stuff.

  • @phuturephuture bull shit they are order ther dont make they heros no way

  • do you see how dum they are lol look at the chooper

  • @sertox12345

how could they be dumb, if you're flying above a melted reactor where the radiation makes you willing to throw up, and you start to loose consciousness, how then could you be dumb. Maybe you're dumb yourself for posting such shit

  • @philipsthebest Maybe you are dumb for not understanding the situation. Those helicopter crews were following orders by their higher ups and were not aware of the extent of exposure they faced. Those helicopters were pouring thousands of tons of much needed neutron absorbers. Most of those ppl died so that the radiation could be contained, saving the lives of millions of others in surrounding areas for generations to come. Those men are heroes to humanity.

  • @forat2

i didn't say they aren't heroes, and i know they were following orders, i just don't get how someone could laugh at this, like sertox here above did. thats all i wanted to say, and the helicopter fell down anyway

  • Comment removed

  • @phuturephuture nicely said but not the real truth, what you mean by "they can not be ordered to go there?" They were ordered and at first day nobody even knew how dangerous was that, people were walking in streets in countries near, and doctors, or simple people were brought there only knowing they will need to help people, but not that they will need to deal with a lot of unseen dangerous which will affect their future generations. That say government tried to hide it, but they couldnt.

  • @phuturephuture

it wasn't only free will, the soldiers who had to clean the place up were ordered to do so. In those days, nobody from the officers cared about will or not willing to do smth in the army

  • 4:44 lol they died

  • @TheFinalBossBWC hey go fuck yourself. this is not funny at all.

  • @chernobyl916 then why did i laugh?

  • This film is wrong on several levels. First the people working at Chernobyl where aware of the danger. These where educated people from a first world nation that had been living under the threat of nuclear war for decades. They knew about radiation. I personally know one of the miners that dug under the reactor. They knew the risk and even though they know they where likely to get sick or die, they did it out of a sense of duty to their county and their people. They are heroes. All of them. Th

  • @vic320 By definition, the Socialist Soviet Republics were the Second World.

  • This film is wrong on several levels. First, the people working at Chernobyl where WW

  • Grim and truly tragic. I cannot help but feel so sad for the poor workers who lost their lives trying to seal this reactor, and now the poor men in Japan struggling to prevent another nuclear disaster.

  • those poor souls in uniform not told the danger, not using even the ineffective resparators.

  • A great clip :). I recently watched the documentary The Battle Of Chernobyl here on youtube and I have to say that it was terrifying yet one of the best documentarys I have seen. For anyone interested in this stuff, its a must see. I must admit that after watching it, I lay awake for hours thinking about it, those heroic workers and the people who suffered/still suffer. Its very relevant now of course, given the situation in Japan.

  • they shud ban nuclear energy i mean look wat is currently happening in japan

  • @migueltremain honestly no they should not, yes nuclear energy is dangerous, however it is getting safer as years go by, please remember that it produces massive amounts of energy and yes it is still harmful to the environment but not as much as the amount of Carbon Dioxide we pump into the air each day.

  • @AtomicBlizzard12 Think Of The Storage Room We Have For Such "Harmful" Things. I Dunno If You Studied The Half Life Of All/Anything Nuclear. But, It Will Take Thousands Of Years Before You Can Touch A Drum Of Waste Put In The
