THe regulation there was only for who could be allowed loans. The lending in itself wasn't a problem and is a red haring used to blame the lower and middle class that over-extended themselves. The problems where from all the excess resources pored into this mortgages; like the betting on them, the insurance on that betting, and selling off that insurance to other companies.

Again, these all has to do with who's aloud to get the loans, and that has jack-shit to do with the problem. I admit, the Clinton administration had a part of the blame; but that's because they did nothing while the republicans put forward legislation to make it so that ALL of a banks assets can be insured. It was from the banks being guaranteed to break even with all of there assets being insured; so they made risky loans without a care, to the point they were LITERALLY gambling on who would pay their mortgages. Then too many people defaulted on there loans too soon, too many bets made on mortgages were lost, and there wasn't enough insurance to cover the candle burning at both ends.

Clearly you are one of the people that believes what Fox News states as gospel..which probably means you don't bother reading news sources from other outlets I imagine. I'm not saying you should go off and watch MSNBC or bury your head into New York Times, but if you only believe one Fox News is telling you and only listen to conservative news sources, you have to see that is your own self indoctrination.
