What is the point of this video? apart from clarifying how to make bump keys plus how to use them (2:00) and stating that it voids house insurance? (2:34).

As far as I'm aware, the lock bumping videos etc., are stating how to open your own door incase you lock yourself out.

This video is actually giving the idea directly to the potential thieves browsing youtube, as well as assuring them that they will not get caught.

Keybumping is a result of the obsession with key differs. Ok so a barrel might have a bazillion differs, but that means that plenty of them will have little variation in pin height and thereby make them perfect candidates for bumping. It's easy to make bumping harder, you can use thick gooey snot in your lock, or just fit a lever style lock that can't be opened by everyone and his dog.

Yeah, it's important to get burglarized in the first place every once in a while. In fact, I'd say it's even more important than collecting on your insurance, really. Thank's for that tip, Kate. Someone demonstrated to me how trivially easy it is to open a standard Master combination lock if someone doesn't remember to rotate the knob a couple times after they open it. All you have to do is hit it in a downwards motion with a hammer or other striking tool and it may pop open. Depending on the tool and force used there may not be any scratches on the combination lock and, unless you crushed it with a sledgehammer, it will close normally and the victim will have no evidence of tampering.

I've never even heard of lockbumping until this video. It's pretty creepy! I showed my boyfriend this morning and he went through all the "related" videos to the left and we actually watch three different videos teaching you exactly how to lockbump! So crazy!

If someone lock bumps your house all you have to do is break your lock or a window to show a break and enter and the insurance has no problem to pay off when you file your police report. Problem solved!!
