i passed my tast in 1980 the examiner used to wait on the corner of a junction and tell you if you had passed or failed i still ride now. I have lost friends also i like to think what has kept me alive so far is treat everyone else as an idiot . I know there not but you will always find one when you least expect it or need it . riding as in driving is common sense and observation. RIDE SAFE GUYS
i thought it was fine - if the ar driver doesnt see the bike (or look for the bike-as often happens) coming through in his OS mirror then thats up to him. they should anticipate a hazard coming from behind them too
I'm not impressed by the overtake of the last car before the trailer in the first minute - rider cuts in to the car's braking zone & then sits too close to the trailer. I make that two serious errors, completely avoidable.
1:33 I failed my test for doing exactly that. I was staying out to get a better view and my examiner failed me for it. He said if an oncoming car takes "the racing line" theres going to be very little margin for error. So i got a majour mark for road positioning which i was realy pissed off about. Plus there was thick clumps of mud and shit from a tractor & trailor or something all up the middle of the road which i had to avoid... But whatever passed 2nd time without a single fault lol
Wel done for the pass. Who was it with, IAM or Rospa and what area of the country you were tested in. Nice to see what the test reoprt says, keep me posted,
Ohh my bad. It wasn't an advanced riding scheme or anything like that. Just the direct access test. I wouldnt like to say the training schools name on here but I'm in the north east of england *sighs*
I see why you failed, you tried to ride the practical way and not as the DSA want you to ride, so that you pass the 'test' Now you have passed you can start riding properly - Good Luck, I am only an e-mail away if you need any help, advice etc...
This is a good video clip. This clearly shows a few very common hazzards that can occur whilst overtaking. Planing for the next bend is good observation skills. I can be in a bend and I can see the road ahead and im planing for the next bend but also the one after it. This is where I believe smooth riding develops from. I like the part that says keep out and have more distance between you and the vechile your overtaking. It's mostly at juctions but someone might want to turn into their house.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
What is with bike riders and overtaking, why can't they obey the speed limit like everyone else. There is no art to driving faster then anyone else. I do this shit everyday in my car and I don't need to watch these gayass postman pat videos.
Good reply, nice to see us motorcyclists not lowering themselves to the derogatory comments of people such as those above who clearly have no understanding of motorcycles or thier riders. Unfortunetly i feel it is attitudes such as this that add to makeing the road such a dangerous place.
As you have never seen my riding you are in no position to make a comment about me putting my self in unneccessary danger. I wasnt complaining that the roads are dangerous, i was simply stateing that they are. Video's like this help motorcyclists to better themseleves, so they can ride at a higher standard amongst ignorant car drivers such as your self. You cant just accuse all motorcyclists of dangerous activity on the road when you clearly have no understanding of the subject. Ash
as you have never seen my driving, you are in no position to judge my ignorance of the subject. you don't even know me, yet you call me ignorant? considering i have two busted knees from a motorbike accident, and one of my co-workers has been in a wheelchair since september from one. the road is only dangerous when incompetent fools like yourself are on it. if you need to watch youtube to ride a bike, you shouldn't be on it mate. btw no one commented on ur riding..
so the comment about putting myself in unneccessary danger was nothing to do with my riding? i dont need to watch youtube vids to ride a bike, just like most other people on youtube i watch videos about subjects im interested in. i dont need to see your driving mate when you make comments like 'i do this shit everyday in my car'. Ash
so you defend the bike rider, and abuse the car driver. like i said, no one commented on 'YOUR' riding. are you the guy in the video? u just felt the need to speak up and feel important. what a shame no one was speaking to you.
You cant come out with that 'noone was speaking to you' rubbish when you started an argument from a general comment. Im not defending or abusing anyone, my original comment was nothing to do with the video, it was to do with your comment and the reply i put was not abusive, you then decided to come back some months later and turn it into an argument in which you did comment on my riding when you implied that i dont know any road rules and put myself in unneccessary danger. Sort yourself out.
lets get something straight. i was the one that made a general comment. you are the one that turned it into an argument with an abusive innaccurate comment. quote below:

perhaps it would help if you understood the road rules. i think they made a book about it.
you put yourself in unneccessary danger, then complain that the roads aren't safe, ur a fukn genius you are.
