Steven Hawking is a smart man but the idea that M Theory may one day explain how nothing spontaneously combusted into what we now know as the universe does not make God unnecessary by any means. In fact it would be wise to consider that the Quran mentions God as being the "Lord of all the worlds" over 1400 years ago, it also mentions that their are beings known as Jinn, which operate in and around us but are unable to be seen or detected, these beings sometimes choose to interact with our world.
i dont discredit their work, but math equations are just like sentences. A way to communicate our thoughts. Until these universes/realities can be visualized, traveled to, or recreated, these theories are just as useless as religion. The word God is a subjective term in science. In religion, it is simple; He is the creator. But when I imagine God in M theory, not only I can possibly comprehend his appearence because.... you can't. We live in a 3 dimensional world with 4th dimension as a moment. Oh, and I have another question for mr Hawking. He said that 'The laws may have been decreed by God, but God does not intervene to break the laws'. Well there is a law which says that a person suffering from ALS, like him, dies after a maximum of 10 years, but he's survived it for over 40 years. Look at that! A rule broken down. They didn't find an explanation for that, but whatever the cause, it CERTAINLY isn't God's intervention, right?...
I'm not a scientist, not even close. But I know that gravity is that force that attracts smaller mass objects towards the bigger mass ones. Ok, so we have this law of gravity. But how can it be enough to create the universe 'out of nothing'? Hawking said so, but he is too much of a genius for me to understand....

A law in physics doesn't cause anything. It "only" describes(!). If there is nothing, there's nothing to describe and no physical law.
There is the idea that abstract things (like the number "7") exist necessarily even if there's nothing, but they can't cause anything obviously.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but M-Theory states that there is a universe for any given possiblity. It also states that other universes can have different natural lawas. This all means that there would be a universe that destroyed all universes forever. yet we are still here. Steven Hawking said himself that asking what happened before The Big Bang makes no sense because there was no space or time, but now he is saying that branes collided before The Big Bang? Steven Hawking is a brilliant man, but I think there is a little something wrong in his logic there.
@theBartone9119 I am no physicist, but the way I think of the Big Bang it could be merely the beginning of our universe. Branes are just a representation of the multiverse-theory and are not confined to space as we know it. The beginning of everything - or whether there needs to be one - remains a whole other question.

If you read the comment back, I was making the point that deep down there is no difference between a mechanical and a philosophical answer except for who comes up with them. Many mechanical answers are wrong, many philosophical answers are wrong- the real difference between a philosopher and a scientist is that the scientist uses evidence but the philosopher uses pure thought. Sometimes the philosopher is right, but it's not the scientific method.

Actually, most highly renowned theorists believe in a "divine being", something higher and above everything else. Because the more they discover, the more questions develop. As shown through M- Theory etc, with each new discovery, more and more explanations are necessary to explain different little things. Perhaps one day all of the questions will be answered, but the incredibility of everything we discover sometimes is just easier to contribute to the work of a higher being.
One should make their own definition of God before saying it exists or not. My God is the vibration that holds space/time together, a paradox which is in everything while everything is in it. God is literally the time/space dimension where there is no moment after sequential moment, something our brains cannot come close to interpreting. A law in physics doesn't cause anything. It "only" describes(!). If there is nothing, there's nothing to describe and no physical law.
There is the idea that abstract things (like the number "7") exist necessarily even if there's nothing, but they can't cause anything obviously.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but M-Theory states that there is a universe for any given possiblity. It also states that other universes can have different natural lawas. This all means that there would be a universe that destroyed all universes forever. yet we are still here. There would also be a universe of which the inhabitants have entered all other universes, and at the some time one that had never been entered by those inhabitants. It's a filled with impossible things. Therefore it can't work.

Branes are just a representation of the multiverse-theory and are not confined to space as we know it. The beginning of everything - or whether there needs to be one - remains a whole other question.

If you read the comment back, I was making the point that deep down there is no difference between a mechanical and a philosophical answer except for who comes up with them. Many mechanical answers are wrong, many philosophical answers are wrong- the real difference between a philosopher and a scientist is that the scientist uses evidence but the philosopher uses pure thought. Sometimes the philosopher is right, but it's not the scientific method.

Actually, most highly renowned theorists believe in a "divine being", something higher and above everything else. Because the more they discover, the more questions develop. As shown through M- Theory etc, with each new discovery, more and more explanations are necessary to explain different little things. Perhaps one day all of the questions will be answered, but the incredibility of everything we discover sometimes is just easier to contribute to the work of a higher being.

Both should be interpreted in proper corellations, but the capability of human are very limited, and most of them are speculating. But outside the universe, there's no reason to think that cause and effect happen. It can be a totally different set of 'laws' if you will. It could've simple come from nothing. @endgamex Shroud of turin is not a fake.. the blood is type a/b and it is still red and the image is over the top of teh blood a forger could not duplicate this and the carbon dating sample was taken from a corner that was rewoven and the dates that are so far off show this fact.
