  • How do you record a synth line, he has one put in already, but im not sure how to physically create that, is there a keyboard application or something?

  • @ThemidnightbellTV I was wondering the same thing .-.

  • How much does all that software cost

  • @Iancwilliamson It's all one piece of software, all you see here comes with reason.

  • People have already said it but i think it needs to be repeated!!

the word is COMBINATOR!! instead of automating all the parameters individually program them into combinators (prob have to combine first if didnt already) first rotary lots less time consuming

  • Thanks! Works!

  • Some good tips here but you definitely took a complicated route. Use the rotaries on your first combi to automate multiple wobble parameters and just take a line out of relevant synths to other FX combis. This then saves endless 'cut-and-pasting' of automation sequences to make sure each parameter is identically wobbled. Thanks though :-)

  • when you copy the track for the sub bass, what keys did you press when you clicked and dragged it off the bass track,

  • does not work...

  • if you put the subtractor in the combinator with the thor and effects with a mixer (thor &effects to one channel and combinator in another) then you will have that same result in a single patch

  • your rubbish stop what you are doing

  • Rusko is Brostep...

  • @ParanormalDub1997 rusko is like the godfather of dubstep, regardless if you think he's good or bad. so shut your mouth.

  • @Neptune0100 Mate it's Brostep for fuck sake!! Search Rusko's thoughts on Brostep, he liked original dubstep e.g. Skream,Benga,Coki,Dygital Mystikz,N-Type,Kryptic Minds, ect and wanted to put more "energy" into it, then brostep was born...... but lets not forget, your most likely a stupid yankee piece of shit that knows nothing about dubstep, considering it was made in the U.K., until you stupid fat ass yanks ruined it with your shitty queer emo "Skrillex fag" have a good day i hope 911 repeats.

  • Dear everyone bitching about lack of "final sound", remember the part 1 of the tutorial? He plays the final synth sound at the start. How embarrassing for all you dumbasses. @luckydatevideos , thanks for a great tutorial.

  • fucking tard, play your sounds once in a while shit whatt the fuck r uu thinking tard

  • @NevermindTheGame stupid troll

  • How can I connect my synthesizer to the computer? which cable i need for that? where are the settings for that? CAN YOU PLEASE PLEASE MAKE TUTORIAL FOR THAT

  • What program is that??

  • /watch?v=_KzAg8AlCqY

  • you're a tard.. no one knows what it sounds like

  • Thank you sir

  • REally cool tut thanks

  • dude the end of it i think i got the no sound problem witch i did and freaked out... im reinstalling now cuzz my sound went gone and missing on only reason and nothing else

  • @mikaelo1992 Try prefs and change your audio driver!

  • dude the end of it i think i got the no sound problem witch i did and freaked out

  • 12345l6789 is right. Pump up the octaves on your keyboard and then its all good, he just didn't specify it, thats all.

  • Are you serious? A fucking tutorial without the end result of what you are trying to teach? Are you fucking retarded guy? This is useless.

  • worked for me 2 , tinyest lil difference in the sound tho , but its all about the automation that gives it the right sound u need , its annoying fakin about with the freq automation to get it right .

  • Those Manual Automated Wobbles Are So Much Better Than The LFO Presets In Thor!!!!! Thanks Mannnn!

  • If you guys are complaining and are on reason 5 when you create any instrument/effect then you need to right click on it and select INITIALIZE PATCH.

Also if it sounds like a machine gun, move up on the octaves.

But anyways works great man thanks. made a completely new sounding bass by tweaking some settings. Works great!

  • SERIOUSLY PEOPLE. use your fucking minds. it sounds like a machine gun because youve got it in the wrong octave. Whack your MIDI info up to oct 5 on the keyboard and it works. So try using your fucking brains before shooting the shit.

  • I go with ableton live

  • fukn shit

  • Dude why not put it all in 1 combinator?:

Follow first tutorial then right click combine, add a line mixer, connect ecf filter to line 1, add subtractor to line 2, follow step on this tutorial, then drag the devices from nastier bass into your first combinator, connect line mixer out to equalizer input, maximizer output to combinator input.

That way you only need one note lane plus you can save as combinator patch and load up in any song instantly!!

  • wats a software you can download ?

  • you have a cool voice.

you sound like andy from the tv series weeds.... ^^

  • search Dubstep Basslines: Reason 4 Tutorial by Jakeos2.

That video is what he meant to do i think. Follow that video as far as it goes and then follow this video from 1:00

  • It sounds like you're hitting your mouse mega hard. LOL

  • sorry m8 i take my comment back i know what to do now lol THANKS MAAAAN!!

  • waste of time

  • thanks for the video, really helped!

  • TY WERD! THIS SHIT IT COOL RESPECT! I DONT CARE WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOOT THE WAY U TALK BUT IM CANADIAN EH!

  • You should learn to use the combinator, this gets so messy.

  • @thejew72 Yeh right this guy has made something that already takes about 10 mins to do and made a massive meal of it hahaa

Subtractors make me laugh, basic shit tool

  • @xDeFiiNeWoW Subtractor is sick. You just need to know how to use it. And I have massive, so I'm noy just a resaon fanboy. Subtractor is heavy. Ask the prodigy.

  • @Tasbo1982 the prodigy won't be using no subtractor lol it's all about analogue synths move away from the digital vst plugins. Serious... well vst's is good for dubstep... kinda but if you want thicker, warmer bass/synth sounds use an analogue!

  • @Venomsoar

The Prodigy used nothing but reason to produce there 4th album, except obviously when recording vocals!

and btw subtractor is not a VST, if it was you would be able to load it into other stand alone software like cuebase, logic or sonar!

  • @RichieRemix I never said nothing about subtractor being a vst I just said move away from the vst's because he mentioned having massive. Yes prodigy did use reason for their fourth album but what did they use for mastering? PRO TOOLS and look at their band's name... The Prodigy named after the analogue synthesizer called Moog Prodigy!

  • @Venomsoar

subtractor is a software version of a polyphonic analog synthesizer, Maelstrom is a Graintable Synthesizer, Thor is a multi-synthesis synthesizer so could be either or both depending on how its programmed and vst's are just plugin's for your preferred host they can be anything from analog synth's to reverb to a drum machine as far as the imagination of its creator!

so please don't be so small minded because many of these are far more customizable than there hardware equivalent!

  • @RichieRemix Yes I do know that I am studying A levels I don't mean to brag but I expressed my own personal opinion. You can ask a load of big producers out there and a lot of them not all but a lot will prefer to use hardware rather than software. Just like the big debate of vinyl giving out more warmth than digital cd's. For me hardware synth's give out different shaped waveforms.

  • @RichieRemix Yes I do know that I am studying A levels I don't mean to brag but I expressed my own personal opinion. • Most use both!

You would need a lot of hardware to compete with reason!

The shape and waveform is changeable on all synthesizers with the same basic options that's what they do, its all electronically manipulated sound, a particular piece of hardware maybe popular for the sound it produces, but would never be customisable like thor, if your soundcard is crap your synth will sound crap, every studio has a PC or Mac and the best hardware comes with software like native instruments maschine!

  • @RichieRemix Yes but hardware stuff produces higher quality sound. Not only snyths but effects units will give out better sounding effects. I've used reason since 07 and as soon as I started using hardware synths, effects units and all that good stuff I could never go back to using the delays, reverbs and distortions on reason. I still use reason however I will not mixdown or master on reason because the tools reason offers are not to proffesional standerds.

  • I'm not doubting hardware I'm saying use all the tools available

you can open 10 synths and add limitless individual effects to each one how many hardware reverb or distortion boxes would you buy?

its professional software if you can't use it that's your problem, you stick to your presets, don't experiment and limit yourself to one piece of hardware, but don't tell other people subtractor is not a synth and they shouldn't use it or other VST's.

  • @RichieRemix No I do use software, I don't limit myself but If i'm looking for a particular sound I'll use different tools. Lot's of the producers I know can tell me which vst's, hardware's and softwares have been used in a track just by the sound. I shouldn't have told people not to use subtractor yes but instead experiment with other tools. The point i'm trying to make is all tools won't give the same sound!

  • @RichieRemix you can use Subtractor in other DAW software like Cubase, using Rewire. Shame that Reason doesn't have VSTi support, though.. I'd love to use my OP-X and ImpOSCar with it, instead of recording those tracks in Cubase or Ableton and syncing up Reason with ReWire.

  • @RocketRevenge

Yeah I would have to agree with you there.

I've not tried record or reason 6 yet

Have you tried sony acid pro or cakewalk sonar? my preferred rewire solutions.

Acid is a lot quicker and simple to setup than cuebase, plus the availability of beat-mapping makes syncing easy and changing the tempo of you're track a one click option.

  • bad ass thats all i have 2 say thanks THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!! worked perfect make more vids.............

  • Heres pretty much the same patch, i changed the some of the routing and wiring to make it work.

  • his voice got increasingly annoying towards the end, possibly because it was in comparison to the sweet bass he was producing. good tunes mate.

need work on the accent though.

  • i have no problem following these tutorials and ive been on reason less than 3 months.. they are good (enought) but i think you should rly use the rotary of combinators to make automations.. saves you alot of work ive ur just copy pasting automations. and putting a max on something like the scale can realy help take of the very edge of it to make it just a little less painfull on the ears sometimes. (ofc filthy is good, but there is a limit.)

  • You're tutorials are so simple, thanks man! Sorry for everyone who can't follow directions or automate their frequencies.

  • Comment removed

  • thanks for that!

  • @SanSuMartialArts : 1e create a mixer, then push tab connect your mixer with your soundcard

2e : connect your synth to your mixer

if there's still no sound , go to edit in your menu then push preferences => audio , and see if your souncard is selected...

  • I SET THIS UP AND I HAVE NO SOUND ..... THE MIXER LIGHTS UP WHEN I HIT MY KEYBOARD KEYS BUT NOT SOUND .. ANY IDEAS?

  • @SanSuMartialArts You probably need to turn your frequency up higher than 0, i had it earlier. Its probably where you've wrote some filter frequency shapes but finished with the frequency at 0.

  • @ROLLEX420 ya absolute spot on with that comment m8 lol

  • very well done thank you :d

  • Crazy helpful

  • Outstanding tutorial as usual, dude. Thanks!

  • Yes bro! greatly appreciate all the configurations.

  • hey dude your videos changed my whole standard in making tunes. thank you so much any chance you could have a listen to my first tune using your methods and let me know what you think. cheers

  • I learned a few cool tricks I didn't know Keep up the good work I followed step by step and got a different sound from the bass but I got the general idea thanks. :)

  • seriouslly play it whyle you are making it, cuz i followed you step by step, pauseing the video and going along with you on reason 4.0 the only 1 that worked right so far was the Jack beats synth. the rusko, and 1 other dubstep tutorials do NOT WORK

  • yeah sometimes he forgot to say that you have to initialise patches, eg the scream 4 distortion both are initialised in the vid, forgot that too at first

  • @ROLLEX420 the rusko one does work.... you must have done something wrong

  • @ROLLEX420 noob

  • @ROLLEX420 Sometimes you must correct the synth by yourself to sound good... Everyone makes mistakes

  • @ROLLEX420 rusko one worked for me after i tried it the 3rd time. You have to make sure you follow every single step exactly like he does it.

  • @ROLLEX420 @LUCKYDATEVIDEOS Yeah dude, I mean thanks for the tutorials, but how the fuck are you not gonna play the final result? I think you're honestly full of shit til I hear a final product.

  • @discipleofdeath you shouldn't need to hear the final result, this is a tutorial showing people how to make a synth, if you don't know how to use reason, find a tutorial for that, this tutorial is 100% correct.

  • @ROLLEX420 You must always initialize. Lucky has got that setting on default, so everything he creates is set to default.

  • awesome

  • I noticed you're also using record. Does it give you any advantages even if you don't record things?

  • @PeaceLoveAndMax It has the SSL mixer sound

  • i wont get this working, just sounds realy wierd for me, can you please post it in the propellerhead site ?

  • Play it so we can hear it?

  • @mloniero he plays it right at the beginning of part 1 of this video

  • @mloniero check the first video. he had a sample there.

  • awesome synth, thanks man!
