How do you record a synth line, he has one put in already, but im not sure how to physically create that, is there a keyboard application or something?
People have already said it but i think it needs to be repeated!!
the word is COMBINATOR!! instead of automating all the parameters individually program them into combinators (prob have to combine first if didnt already) first rotary lots less time consuming
Some good tips here but you definitely took a complicated route. Use the rotaries on your first combi to automate multiple wobble parameters and just take a line out of relevant synths to other FX combis. This then saves endless 'cut-and-pasting' of automation sequences to make sure each parameter is identically wobbled. Thanks though :-)
if you put the subtractor in the combinator with the thor and effects with a mixer (thor &effects to one channel and combinator in another) then you will have that same result in a single patch
@Neptune0100 Mate it's Brostep for fuck sake!! Search Rusko's thoughts on Brostep, he liked original dubstep e.g. Skream,Benga,Coki,Dygital Mystikz,N-Type,Kryptic Minds, ect and wanted to put more "energy" into it, then brostep was born...... but lets not forget, your most likely a stupid yankee piece of shit that knows nothing about dubstep, considering it was made in the U.K., until you stupid fat ass yanks ruined it with your shitty queer emo "Skrillex fag" have a good day i hope 911 repeats.

How can I connect my synthesizer to the computer? which cable i need for that? where are the settings for that? CAN YOU PLEASE PLEASE MAKE TUTORIAL FOR THAT
dude the end of it i think i got the no sound problem witch i did and freaked out... im reinstalling now cuzz my sound went gone and missing on only reason and nothing else
worked for me 2 , tinyest lil difference in the sound tho , but its all about the automation that gives it the right sound u need , its annoying fakin about with the freq automation to get it right .
SERIOUSLY PEOPLE. use your fucking minds. it sounds like a machine gun because youve got it in the wrong octave. Whack your MIDI info up to oct 5 on the keyboard and it works. So try using your fucking brains before shooting the shit.
Follow first tutorial then right click combine, add a line mixer, connect ecf filter to line 1, add subtractor to line 2, follow step on this tutorial, then drag the devices from nastier bass into your first combinator, connect line mixer out to equalizer input, maximizer output to combinator input.
That way you only need one note lane plus you can save as combinator patch and load up in any song instantly!!
@xDeFiiNeWoW Subtractor is sick. You just need to know how to use it. And I have massive, so I'm noy just a resaon fanboy. Subtractor is heavy. Ask the prodigy.
@Tasbo1982 the prodigy won't be using no subtractor lol it's all about analogue synths move away from the digital vst plugins. Serious... well vst's is good for dubstep... kinda but if you want thicker, warmer bass/synth sounds use an analogue!
@RichieRemix I never said nothing about subtractor being a vst I just said move away from the vst's because he mentioned having massive. Yes prodigy did use reason for their fourth album but what did they use for mastering? PRO TOOLS and look at their band's name... The Prodigy named after the analogue synthesizer called Moog Prodigy!
subtractor is a software version of a polyphonic analog synthesizer, Maelstrom is a Graintable Synthesizer, Thor is a multi-synthesis synthesizer so could be either or both depending on how its programmed and vst's are just plugin's for your preferred host they can be anything from analog synth's to reverb to a drum machine as far as the imagination of its creator!
so please don't be so small minded because many of these are far more customizable than there hardware equivalent!
@RichieRemix Yes I do know that I am studying A levels I don't mean to brag but I expressed my own personal opinion. You can ask a load of big producers out there and a lot of them not all but a lot will prefer to use hardware rather than software. Just like the big debate of vinyl giving out more warmth than digital cd's. For me hardware synth's give out different shaped waveforms.
You would need a lot of hardware to compete with reason!
The shape and waveform is changeable on all synthesizers with the same basic options that's what they do, its all electronically manipulated sound, a particular piece of hardware maybe popular for the sound it produces, but would never be customisable like thor, if your soundcard is crap your synth will sound crap, every studio has a PC or Mac and the best hardware comes with software like native instruments maschine!
@RichieRemix Yes but hardware stuff produces higher quality sound. Not only snyths but effects units will give out better sounding effects. I've used reason since 07 and as soon as I started using hardware synths, effects units and all that good stuff I could never go back to using the delays, reverbs and distortions on reason. I still use reason however I will not mixdown or master on reason because the tools reason offers are not to proffesional standerds.
I'm not doubting hardware I'm saying use all the tools available
you can open 10 synths and add limitless individual effects to each one how many hardware reverb or distortion boxes would you buy?
its professional software if you can't use it that's your problem, you stick to your presets, don't experiment and limit yourself to one piece of hardware, but don't tell other people subtractor is not a synth and they shouldn't use it or other VST's.
@RichieRemix No I do use software, I don't limit myself but If i'm looking for a particular sound I'll use different tools. Lot's of the producers I know can tell me which vst's, hardware's and softwares have been used in a track just by the sound. I shouldn't have told people not to use subtractor yes but instead experiment with other tools. The point i'm trying to make is all tools won't give the same sound!
@RichieRemix you can use Subtractor in other DAW software like Cubase, using Rewire. Shame that Reason doesn't have VSTi support, though.. I'd love to use my OP-X and ImpOSCar with it, instead of recording those tracks in Cubase or Ableton and syncing up Reason with ReWire.
Have you tried sony acid pro or cakewalk sonar? my preferred rewire solutions.
Acid is a lot quicker and simple to setup than cuebase, plus the availability of beat-mapping makes syncing easy and changing the tempo of you're track a one click option.
i have no problem following these tutorials and ive been on reason less than 3 months.. they are good (enought) but i think you should rly use the rotary of combinators to make automations.. saves you alot of work ive ur just copy pasting automations. and putting a max on something like the scale can realy help take of the very edge of it to make it just a little less painfull on the ears sometimes. (ofc filthy is good, but there is a limit.)
@SanSuMartialArts You probably need to turn your frequency up higher than 0, i had it earlier. Its probably where you've wrote some filter frequency shapes but finished with the frequency at 0.
