Songs become a hit as some said. You say you r surprised when it becomes a hit that it took so many years. they come to the market when the marketer spend the money to bring them to the market. Sad huh
Long time Dean Martin fan and I never knew he sang this song prior to 1964 !
It was Ken Lane who suggested to Dean and producer Jimmy Bowen that Everybody Loves Somebody be included as the last song on the 'Dream With Dean' album. Bowen was impressed with the song and saw potential as a pop single and the rest is history as they say.
As several have stated here I did not know that Dean had recorded this song before 1964. What a find. I just attempted a cover version of this great old Dean Martin song myself. Anyone interested stop by my channel and check it out sometime.
I have been a Dean Martin Fan for 40 years. I never knew he sang this in 1948! I always heard that this song was a last minute addition to the "Dream with Dean" album and written by Deans pianist, by Ken Lane. Didn't realize Mr. Lane wrote it that early on. Thanks for posting.
@ARIZJOE It wasn't quite dormant, as a lot of people recorded it over the years (Sinatra for one). It's odd to think that it was to have its real heyday fifteen years after Dino sang this, though!

It's hard to believe this song had laid dormant until the 1960s, and then became a big smash hit.
