  • great guide!

but i`ve encountered a problem trying to install the drivers on my Openstep 4.2 machine.

I have downloaded the 4 driver archives (all end with .tar.gz), but Openstep can´t extract them...

Extracting them in OSX doesn`t help, because Openstep can`t read the folders and displays just a bunch of random textfiles etc.

It would be awesome if you could upload your iso that contains the working drivers somewhere, if that`s possible.

    cheers

  • @macintoshgermany: Could you be more specific re unarchiving on OPENSTEP? It sounds like you might be using 'tar' rather than 'gnutar'.

  • I have uploaded the ISO image to a 'free downloads' site temporarily, the URL is in the description. Although I have verified that the image does indeed work, Murphy's Law is paramount. Let me know if anything does go wrong :)

  • @Verdraith thanks, the drivers on the cd worked perfectly :)

however, always shows "no connection to the network server" when i start the vm.

are there network settings that i need to configure?

my windows 7 vm works just fine ootb

  • @macintoshgermany: Could you be a bit more specific? Is that a VMWare error, or an OPENSTEP error?

If it is an OPENSTEP error, then it sounds like NetInfo is attempting to find a server to autoconfigure itself from... if that is the case, log in as root, open HostManager from NextAdmin, select 'Local...', and be sure to select 'Use local domain only'. That should stop OPENSTEP from trying to autoconfigure. You will also want to be sure that you specify the network details too.
