  • I love this song i waz at the tour in Newcastle and they rocked Ian gillan ruled and Steve Morse is a god. thin lizzy were good and styx sucked ass

  • Ian's very last 'Into the Fire' is out-of-the-cosmos incredible. It's technically 2 octaves and a "ninth" above the root note, and a fifth above the actual melody note for that chorus. Musically, that may be confusing. Literally, it just means that he's a fricken' singing master. Rock on forever, IG.

  • Wouldn't a ninth mean it was actually three octaves above the root note?

  • if ian is singing 2 8v + 9th =3+1 and a vth above the actual melody...

that = he is not singing in tune :)

you cannot sing a ninth and be in tune.

you can see in octaves and be in tune.

back to basic theory 101 :)

  • Especially at the age of 62.

  • Is my dear Ian out of tune in this performance???????

  • He struggles with the very highest notes. I think they should bring this down a semi-tone or two...

  • No need, you can see on his face after he sings these high notes how much he actually enjoys torturing his throat this way. Ian Gillan IS the voice

  • @weissheim

I would personnally like to be «struggling» this way... anytime... :)

  • He's 62. Not 24 as he was when he recorded this song.

  • amazing ian gillan..RESPECT

  • Great! Gillan is fantastic! Just think about it. He's soon to be 62 years of age, and who others can, at his age, deliver like that???

    Respect, Gillan! RESPECT!!!

  • NO ONE!!! He's the fucking man!

  • You are absolutely right:-) Look at them!!! It seems they're really firing on all eight during their current UK tour!

    Wish I could've been there!!!

  • Absolutely fantastic song and performance. Good recording, thanks!
