I'd like to add that, as of now, for the actoolkit, 'edit grass' isn't there. You go under Town > Edit Town > Tasks (at the top) > Restore Grass. Not a big change, but something maybe worth mentioning.

@haaris10 no you don't need to the make the savinstaller/extractor files anymore. you download them straight into the wii using the homebrew browser app.

i think only whatever game's disc is in your wii at the time, so yes AC if you have that in. but i'm not 100% i've never tried it with other games.

depends on what you're hacking. what this video is doing isn't 'illegal' in that way, but some say they've been banned from using the internet on the wii for hacking. don't know if it's true though.

@croxzy, it is not possible to be "banned" for hacking in animal crossing for the WFC or in any other game frankly. Nintendo isnt legally aloud to check out your wii with their servers and ban you for hacking. They can only do so if if hinders other users gaming experiance. Mario Kart being a big ban hammer XD.

Yes, they work. I had to do it as well (I updated my wii) and the latest version of the homebrew channel doesn't work with the files in this video.

I've done all the steps up to when you have extract and install on homebrew. When i click on extract it comes up with a box saying delete, load and cancel.

I press load then it says this isn't a wii app or something like that.

Basically i can't extract my game on to my sd card.

nm, got it working. try keeping the normal name for the 2 .elfs, but renaming the .dofs to boot.dof

well when you go to 'extract' and it does its thing, if it says success or OK, that means it should of worked.

from what i've read, it is completely safe and shouldn't damage your wii at all. but like i said, it could void your warranty, so don't do it if you think you'll sell your wii one day.

When I go to edit town, some of the road pops up and the old pattern that I erased and layed the road for without Homebrew pops up. And then I have no choice but to lay the patterns out again,.

No, restoring your grass shouldn't wipe out your patterns. Are you laying out your patterns using the AC tool kit? Make sure you know what number it is, since you can't see them.

The grass hacking works, but when I layed out my road pattern, it displayed my old pattern. And then when I apply for new grass, I have to lay out my patterns again. Is that supposed to happen. Is there a solution for that?

If you guys are wondering how to regrow your grass over and over, when your done playing and want to edit your town or w/e, make sure u go back to homebrew and press savextractor then go to ur comp and edit then apply then save then in your wii again and install then wait then back to wii menu and to ac and play ;D

Yes. to do it a second time, save your ACCF game, like you normally would, then put your SD card in your Wii. Go to the HomeBrew channel and click SavExtractor. Now dump all your data on your SD card, then when it's finished exit out of the homebrew channel and put your SD card back in your computer.

the root is just the main 'area' of your sd card, the very first part.

has someone already used that for this wii hack? a good idea would be to temporarily take everything out and put it on your computer, so you can start with it being empty (and put it back in once you've finished)

there's a previous comment where someone got that same msg, he/she said they got a new SD card to fix it, but it seems to be different for everyone, as i got it at first but I thought I fixed it by doing what I did in this tutorial.

maybe you could try formatting the SD card and starting over (making sure you back up any other files on it, since it deletes everything)

I did this step by step... looks like it might be too complicated, but it's not ...once you go through it once... the rest is easy. I do have problems with crashes though. went to play a homebrew game and the screen just went black... and stayed black O_o, I had to shut off power. The other thing that happened was a crash while surfing homebrew and there was alot of writing on a black screen, with some dumping message at the bottom... again, had to power off.

What i did was since i already got the apps and private folder in my sd card i just copy the savExtractor and savInstaller into the apps folder and the aktn in the private folder and put the wiisaves into the root of my sd card and vola it WORKED PERFECTLY!!! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH.

i recommend to just start from the beginning, so delete the homebrew channel you've already got installed. it only takes like 5 minutes.

sd cards are a type of storage device, like a usb drive. they're commonly used for digital cameras. you can buy them pretty cheap i think...

I got all the way up to the "dump files" part (6:03 in video). It reads the disc OK, but the game save dump message reads "Error!... (ret = -1).

Are you sure you renamed both the .dol and .elf file to 'boot' (specifically in the SavExtractor folder)?

I actually had the same error msg too when I was making this, but I thought I fixed it because what I originally read was to only rename the .dol file to boot. If it still isn't working, then I'll try and look into it some more...
