  • Test mayonnaise and pepto bismol with your geiger counter!!!! you will be shocked!

  • Test mayonnaise and pepto bismol with your giger counter!!!!

  • beautiful piece of dinnerware

  • When theres as high levels as at the chernobyl dissaster you can kinda taste iron. (i have only read)

And like chemgeek (from same group as me lol...) pins and needles sticking.

  • how long did it take to get the DRSB-01 Geiger Counter? I´ve bought one from ebay and i have waited for 2 weeks now..

  • same here

  • If you bought from a guy whose username starts with an "a" then itll take about 3 weeks...thats how long it took me...

  • People are fu*king ignorant about these kinds of stuff so they just think that it will give you cancer or birth defects, those people dont even research about it before saying it, they just stick with their own beliefs, and when you tell an ignorant person that it is safe and wont give you cancer, they still stick with their beliefs because they are so damn ignorant

  • @PrimoVids it just means above normal background levels, by the clicks the bowl is less radioactive then granite worktops

  • Its because the tickling feeling in your hand is causing some cells to form, dont worry you wont get any sytoms due to the Radiation levles. Normaly you feel your hands tingling at 5-10/REM, so it will only just somthing inside your hand, like forms cancerous moles bigger-No conern of danger.

  • I highly doubt you can feel the radiation coming off of that. I have an insanely radioactive watch that feels no different than any other watch. People feel radiation when it's as high as Chernobyl (some of the first responding firemen felt "pins and needles" all up their bodies.) There is no way that piece of glassware is releasing that much radiation. And the geiger counter proves that.

  • you cant feel radiation at all

  • No, everything you just said is false. And the radiation coming of off this is only about 1 milirem. Tingling would even be at 5-10. more like 500 rem for about a minute. You have no idea what you are talking about so shut the fuck up.

  • Uranium glass is not dangerous to handle, but must not be used for storing acidic liquids.

The glass is not made for that.

  • Don't worry, uranium doped glass is totally safe to handle. People have this fear of fiestaware just like they fear that microwaves somehow make food give off nuclear radiation or that cameras capture your soul. And nobody can feel EM or they would detect radar sweeps over their city and just die from a cell phone.

  • From what I have seen, fiestaware contains too much U. You can get above 20000 counts/s.

The biggest problem is if it leaked out the U and lead that it contains, since they are poisonous.

Never eat from a fiestaware bowl!

  • I tried it blindfolded, but indeed it is psychologically. Blindfolded i do not feel anything. The tickeling in my hands was probably caused by some kind of fear for the glass. The answer is that i cannot feel radiation.

  • You can feel high electromagnetic fields too, like when taking MRI, but is SIMPLY impossible, that you can feel the ionizing radiation. Is like telling that you can feel what other feels. Probably if anybody put a 100Curies Cobalt-60 near Wallace, and he will never notice until he die due radiation exposure. Is also like telling that you can feel the electrons/protons/neutrons.

  • I'm still hoping that Wallace will try the experiment for himself. A carefully conducted experiment will rule out the possibility that his experience is purely 'imaginary'... Or... It will prove to him that it IS purely imaginary. There must be NO way that he can possibly tell one piece from another other by texture, weight, temperature etc. If Wallace really CAN tell the difference, perhaps we should rename him to Wallace Geiger-Muller. Heheheh..!

  • wallace, youre just a bit paranoid: "When i hold uranium containing glass in my hand i

get a tickeling feeling in my hand."

LOL, you cant feel radiation. Radiaton cannot go 'free' if you break a crap uranium doped vaseline stuff or fiestaware, and it is mostly alpha emmiter, not dangerous at all, unless you inhale it. It is safe, but dont use it to eat! ;)

    Have a nice day,

    Antonio

  • I beg to differ. I can feel certain types of electromagnetic radiation too. I can most certainly feel the moment of exposure during X-ray examination (even though most radiologists tell me that I cannot). I can feel the oscillating EM field from my tablet PC.

If Wallace were to close his eyes and have someone pass him one of two pieces of glass (one piece of Uranium-doped and one regular), he should be able to tell the difference if his experience is not psychosomatic.

  • you can feel x rays? hmm... i guess i migt have too.. i was to small to remeber. i havent had xray in ages.

  • No man, you cant, you mean the dentist ones? Nope, i had them, didnt feel anything, because the x-ray emission is too small and too short to make you feel anything

  • The pudding mould indeed lights up under black light. I have a small collection of antique vaseline glass obejcts, those are made of transparant green glass. I have a fruit bowl on a high foot, 2 vanity sets each consisting out of 6 objects, 6 wine glasses and a mustard jar. When i put all these objects, including he 2 pudding moulds, next to eachother, there is quite noticeable radiation comming from it.

  • I don't wanna know how much radiation comes free when one of these object fall to the ground an break. Since breaking it in more parts means increasing the total amount of surface, it must be an auwfull lot. I keep all the vaseline glass outside the house in a shed. Nice glass but i do not like the radiation.

  • When i hold uranium containing glass in my hand i

get a tickeling feeling in my hand.

  • Interesting... You see me checking out some Vaseline Glass marbles with an identical geiger counter in one of my videos (actually not a geiger counter, but a dosimeter).

The glass you are demonstrating is probably doped with uranium and will fluoresce under UV light.
