Let me start off by saying that Beyonce is beautiful and its great that she did this shoot. HOWEVER, Beyonce's justification for the face painting is that she wanted to get closer to her AFRICAN ROOTS ..THAT is a problem! She associates dark complexion with "african", so that the darker she is the coser she is to Africa.. this is SILLY because you don't have to be dark to be african. This sad and untrue stereotype perpetuates itself when our fellow blacks are also saying so in their actions.

So why didn't they just get someone with natural dark skin to do the shoot instead of someone to put blackface on was the issue i think.
