can anybody tell me how t get ra 3 for mac, i tried already one site, but it was not avsaialble in ur region that said. can anybody pls help. . . I live in japan.
@javkkh07 As far as I know there is no mac version of RA3. Install Windows via Bootcamp Assistant on your mac and get the Windows game running on your mac. Goodluck
@strigani thanks a lot. i have aleady bootcampwith xp. but, there seems some function not smoothly working on xp on mac, i think, any way, i will try, but do u think to play such a big game on my mac machine causes bad effect on it? if dont know, it s fine,
@javkkh07 I don't know which mac you have but if things aren't running smooth try to lower the graphics or resolution. It's ok to run games or heavy duty stuff on your mac, they're build for that
Name: MacBook Pro Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,5 Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 2.26 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache: 3 MB Memory: 2 GB Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz Boot ROM Version: MBP55.00AC.B03 SMC Version (system): 1.47f2
@javkkh07 The thing is that the 9400M onboard GPU is about 35-50% less powerfull as my 8600M in this MacBook Pro. So that will give you less game performance. Try setting back the resolution and graphics for smooth gameplay.
I got a question, i got an even more powerfull macbook and also windows xp pro. Installed red alert 3, but every time i wanne start the game i get the windows blue screen of death. Did you ever had the same problem before getting the game to work? and if so, what did you do about it?
can u use the 2 button pc mouse on a mac?? because to play this game u use right and left clicks. in short can i use a regular pc mouse instead of pressing "control-click" to right click??
Macs come like 4+ years with mouses that have a right and left click. and like windows machines macs have no problem with other 2+ button mouses, so that's a big yes ;-)
sure apples mighty mice have had more that one button for flipping ages now.... every OSX program ive coma across has right click context menus and such... i dunno how you'd get by without 2 button mice on OSX now
u say avg FPS is 30.... doesnt this game, like all other EA C&C's run at 30FPS capped just because thats how fast the real time engine runs? i.e. if u ran at 60fps everything would happen twice as fast?
There is no macbook pro with a Geforce 9800M, however there is a macbook pro 13'' with a 9400M and no it wont be able to play it on ultra high. Probably medium but not much more than that. I havent tested it on my macbook pro 15'' yet, but my toshiba qosmio x300 ran it decently enough on high and that was with a 9700M GTS, same processor and ram as the macbook pro 15'' (cheapest model).
lol my 27" imac quad core 2.66ghz with a raidon 8750 with 512mb ram for graphic card and 4g normal ram will own any windows computer. Thats a better graphics card then alien ware comes with.
@yslides Lol...The thing is, it wouldn't... :/ You should never use those words "Will own any windows computer"...You should look around youtube, you will be eating your words. A quad core imac, is fucking NOTHING! On the stuff out there...Maybe if you had a Mac pro, 12 core...But then again, they're just server processors...so meh!
does anyone know how the mac version would run on a macbook pro unibody, 4gb ram, nvidia 9400m/9600m gt 256mb, 2.4ghz dual core processor?
sry but everyone seems to run this game via bootcamp, instead of via os x. and i want to know how it would run, if i'd need to turn settings down, or if it'll play smooth on high settings. i play games like halflife 2 and left4dead via bootcamp (windows 7 RC1) and i play those games on high to max settings.
I think the mac version will run a little slower. Like all the games in Mac OS X. But I don't know the specifics. Half Life 2 is a rather light game (run it here on my 1920x1200 external screen with 100-150 FPS) and on the 1440x900 with about 200-250 FPS according to the FPS test of half life 2.
half life never goes above 60 frames. and even on max settings i have a little lag, though its mainly from the system heating up way too much (i wish this thing had better power management in windows x.x )
but anyways all mac games run slower than their windows counterparts? i didn't know that. but why? is it because of the rendering method? (OpenGL vs Direct X ) or is it something else?
well I'm running the mac version on my new imac 2009 2.93ghz with an ATI 4850 card. When I set the settings to Ultra, the system wants me to run the game at 1024x768 resolution, which is horrific on a 24" monitor. It runs well (60FPS) on that low rez, but when you crank the rez to an acceptable rez (at least 1600x1000) it really slows down quite a bit. We're talking 20-30FPS approx.
The game states it takes 10secs to build a reactor, but when i time it, it takes 17 seconds...
ah... well 30 frames isn't bad for me. but damn why is the mac version so slow on new hardware? it seems like the system requirements are steeper for mac users.
The game is supposed to be capped at 30FPS so when you play it online everyone has the same framerate. Also, in these games framerate are also the speed of the game, thus if you increase it to 60FPS the games runs at 200%.
whenever I try this game on my mbp unibody the case heats up till I can't rest my hand on the palm rests anymore - even wth the fans at 6200 rpm in an 18C room.
Heard that some MBP unibody notebooks get hot. But that hot.. I suggest you contact your sales point and explain the problems you experience with the temperatures. Goodluck.
Hey I have a few questions can you play online useing boot camp with this game and do you have to have pc on the computer to run pc programs and does boot camp let you play pc programs with out haveing windows?
'Old' and unibody Macbook Pro users UPDATE your graphic drivers in windows! Nvidia recently made it possible for (Apple) notebook users to download drivers. You really notice the difference!!
Bootcamp works great and it's preinstalled on your mac (if you have Mac OS X Leopard aka Mac OS X 10.5)
You need a Windows XP SP2 or Vista disk with a valid key.
Launch Bootcamp assistant, create a Windows Partition on your Hard Drive and install Windows. And there you have it, Windows native on your Mac. Which gives you the best of 2 worlds. Mac OS X for everything else but gaming, Windows (DirectX) for games :-) Cheers
(song: Krwlng (Mike Shinoda feat. Aaron Lewis) by Linkin Park)
Windows XP Pro can adress up to 3.2 GB ram, so that's also the max amount of RAM i can adres during gameplay. Don't know the % in use during gaming. I could set more settings to high and reso down, but that would give me a drop in FPS during massive battles.
I have the Macbook Pro (8600 version) and probably all my specs are higher than yours (15 in. model), but CnC RA3 kills my Macbook Pro o.o By the way, does your Windows XP utilize all 4GB? Because mines doesn't due to the fact that it's 32 bit.
