The following post after this one will be the actual words of Martin Luther King Jr., showing that both parties shared guilt in the continued oppression of blacks. That each party contained a wing that opposed all measures in favor of racial equality. I wanted to fit the whole statement on one post. It is an exact quote.
"Actually, the Negro has been betrayed by both the Republican and the Democratic party. The Democrats have betrayed him by capitulating to the whims and caprices of the Southern Dixiecrats. The Republicans have betrayed him by capitulating to the blatant hypocrisy of reactionary right wing northern Republicans. And this coalition of southern Dixiecrats and right wing reactionary northern Republicans defeats every bill and every move towards liberal legislation in the area of civil rights." -MLK

@MirageScience I suppose you ignore the fact that his three surviving children, Southern Poverty Law Center, Southern Christian Leadership Conference and Joseph Lowery are going to tell you like I stated: That King was not a Republican. So what are you going to do now other than rant on about how Democrats are Satan and Republicans are Saviors.
@LILVOKA You go to far... All you had to do is say yes she is a liar and here are better sorces. And no I won't be calling Democrats Satanists and Republicans Saviors because in my opinion they are all worshipers of the state. Also I couldn't care less about what institutions claim about his allegances they obviously have an incentive to lie, just saying other parts of his family claim otherwise is good enough for me, they are far closer to the source. *deleted last reply for typos*
I hate to say it, but the Republican party has damaged any chance of reaching out to the black community because of their opposition to Obama, the first black president.
yes dude this is so very crazy but I know that the Republicans have changed their position and now they are the ones that are being racist dude to the fact the all across America they have been trying to shut unions down to surpress voting power.
@ LILVOKA.. and old saying goes like this..."give a man a loaf of bread you feed him for a day, but if you teach a man to make his own, you feed him for life.
I don't know what party Mr King was in, but I don't think he'd support a lot of the Marxist BS on the left. Sure society should have some safety nets for it's people. However people of all races are being punished when they try to improve upon their lives via over regulation and taxation.
@coldsteel122 Ok, you clearly don't understand what Marxism is! And King was not a Republican! Quit lying about his legacy! The surviving children endorsed Barack Obama for president! Since Coretta Scott died, all of a sudden the right has this notion to claim a man who's only dream was to have equal race, fair labor and end to the war in Vietnam. I swear. You really need to stop with the all out lies about Martin Luther King and Barack Obama. You have no factual evidence other than hearsay!
@LILVOKA I never argued that King was a Republican, as I do not know. I was merely stating that knowledge is power and the key to independence. Dude...look at Detroit....please take a good look. It isn't my party that destroyed that city. The democrats have been in full control for the last 50 years. All the money for education is going to greedy teachers unions...and the children are left in the cold...and now there is few jobs or the knowledge to climb out of the mess.
@coldsteel122 Look here, no political party hurt Detroit. The Automotive industry smothered the city with manufacturing. Detroit was once a booming city. But due to the White flight and American jobs being shipped overseas for lower pay, factories close, business follow. Don't play that game! Republicans and Democrats are just major political parties. You people on the right really annoy me to hell with this "Oh it's one party's fault!" If you knew better, GOP have mastered the spin than Dems.
@LILVOKA OK...you are not blaming either party....so I guess that sounds reasonable. I guess this video wasn't about which party was better anyway. Look...if you have Ideas of how to fix America and you make a video...please link it to me. Although clearly we have different ways of looking at things...we do need both the left and right wing to keep the other side honest. You seem smart so I'd be interested in hearing what you have to say.....anyway...have a nice day.
I would say tht, looking at the election results of 1964 (LBJ's election) 61% of the people voted for him, as opposed to 38% who voted for Goldwater. Assuming, a 50/50 Repub/Dem split at the time, we can infer that ~20% of the republicans of the time crossed party lines and voted LBJ for president, due to the Civil Rights Issue.
So it is POSSIBLE that MLK was generally republican, but just voted Democrat on this crucial issue.
Also, stop labeling all conservative Blacks as "self-loathing", plz
@MrProgrampro First thing: PolitiFact labels Martin Luther King Jr. being a Republican is false. Second, my opinion!
Third: Blacks became a strong supporter of the Democratic Party in the days of Roosevelt and World War II where social security and integrated military proved to be beneficial. Despite conservative Democrats (DIXIECRATS) like the late Republican Stromm Thrummond, the Democrats ousted them and they became GOP anchors. Lyndon B Johnson was the Democrat who passed Civil Rights Act.
But there's also the fact that more religious people tend to be republican, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a reverend. I think in the modern political theater he would be split 50/50 b/w Republican and Democrat, more republican on moral issues and more democratic about social justice and equality.
Too bad all we can do is speculate, as his son calls him Democrat but his niece calls him Republican.
@MrProgrampro Absolutely false. The "moral" issues the GOP claims blasphemously aren't moral, or Christian, at all. There is NOTHING Christian about bigotry, about homophobia, about sexism. The opposition to honest sex education on "moral" grounds is destroying lives. Their anti-choice radicalism prevents access to full health care for women. Social justice is directly OPPOSED to the "moral" stances of the right. King's problems with the Democrats would be that they're too centrist.
@MrProgrampro And it's incredibly easy to refute his niece's bunk, she's lied so much about what Martin believed it's become a sad pathetic joke. She has nothing at all to do with what King truly believed. There is NOTHING in today's GOP that King ever supported. Nothing at all.
@MrProgrampro NO, he would NOT be Republican on any issue. Yes, he would absolutely be pro-choice, the Republicans are horribly anti-choice, promoting incredibly cruel and sexist restrictions on women's rights. Specific policies? He favored aggressive Affirmative Action and reparations, was for a greatly increased minimum wage and economic justice, policies we'd call socialist. He was strongly anti-war and opposed the great overspending on the military. He was for strong schools. Any other?
@LILVOKA If he wasn't then why is his niece Alveda a member of the Black Republican Association and talking about how her Uncle, and family were and still are republicans. That is his own niece talking. I watched the video on her.
@puttputtking Here's three things you need to know about why Blacks detest Republicans.
1. Presidential Elections bring out the cesspool of white and black conservatives using terms like plantation when confronting Blacks who vote Democrats.
2. Jesse Jackson, Martin L. King III, and Bernice King can tell you straight up, that King would never support any Republican let alone the modern party.
3. The blatant disrespect of the GOP with laws trying to suppress minority votes.
@freein2339 Could handle this right winger @puttputking and his nonsense? I am getting a little annoyed trying to straighten him out! I don't have the time to deal with it.
@LILVOKA Could handle this left winger LILVOKA and his nonsense? I am a little annoyed trying to straighten this idiot out and can't handle the fact that Alveda even said he was.
@LILVOKA You don't have to reply know, because I know what you're going to tell me, you're going to tell me crap like yeah and nobody in the King family respects Alveda because she's become a Uncle Tom sellout and crap like that, so since I know you're going to say crap like that, there is no need to reply back about it now.
@puttputtking The cesspool of ignorance continues with the Republican Party and it's allies in the conservative media. The culture war of race-baiting immediately starts at the ground level with these narratives!
Uh, it's right for me to say the Republic Party if call the other the Democrat Party!
One thing clear with you people on the Right, it's the obsession with race!
White and Black conservatives love to disqualify the Black voters a "stuck on a plantation".
King was a Republican considering Republicans ended slavery, and passed the amendments allowing blacks to be citizens and to vote. but this was the Republican party of more than a century ago. it has almost been a polar reversal. JFK, LBJ, Truman all ended segregationist policies and enacted civil rights. the south now is almost pure red in every presidential election since the 1960s. Democrats in the 50s and 60s evolved under strong leadership to end their racist ways and is now the party of
Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote in his autobiography:
"The Republican Party geared its appeal and program to racism, reaction, and extremism."
That was his description of the 1964 Republican National Convention. He also referred to the Republican convention as "the frenzied wedding at the Cow Palace of the KKK with the radical right."
You base your thoughts on nothing but morally bankrupt idealism. When you disagree with someone it seems your normal response is to call them an idiot, and say their giving false information but give no valid reasons why. You say you don't want handouts, but at the same time that the government hasn't done enough, well that is a contradiction in terms.
@IWantDaveKast I always enjoy reading comments from conservative white men trying to rewrite history off the backs of Blacks. It's where they can type under the obscurity of an anonymous account, make false and defamatory rhetoric.
Why don't you pipe your sorry ass down?
One last thing! Politifact states MLK being a Republican is false!
MLK did in fact register as a republican, but he voted for Kennedy. He never voted for any republican candidates. The fact that he registered as a republican is the basis for the NBRA and the GOP claiming he is a republican. However his voting record doesn't support that claim.
@cynara1122 I'll tell you what, both parties are productive and successful! Why? Cause they are major political parties.
[Who] benefits by failure of constituents? That's the most ridiculous question you could ever present on my comments page!
I'll tell you what? When you pull your head out of whatever you stuck it in, I want you to actually bring some reasonable thought instead of blaming one party for the failures of a nation! I don't go around making it a sole mission to destroy one party!
@LILVOKA You base your thoughts on nothing but morally bankrupt idealism. When you disagree with someone it seems your normal response is to call them an idiot, and say their giving false information but give no valid reasons why. You say you don't want handouts, but at the same time that the government hasn't done enough, well that is a contradiction in terms.
@sthomas086 Let me repeat my response to people like you! You are just typing a long run on sentence without any merit whatsoever! If you tend to comment on calling people morality bankrupt, my friend, you probably need a good mirror and a pretty smile for once!
@LILVOKA My poor grammar aside, your response as always answered nothing. If you wish to know what my morality is it is this, each man is responsible for his own life. Any man who thinks he has the right to take from another is evil. Any man who thinks it is okay for the government to take from one man and give to another is evil. You cannot achieve justice when force is required.
"You will know them by their fruits" Half of all African American males age 25 have been or are incarcerated. 80% unmarried birthrate. 60% African American babies aborted in NYC? In the words of Dr. Phil "How's that working out for you/?" Calling Tea Party members racists is absurd and most see through to the truth. I see racism alright, but it hasn't come from the whites I know. I am guessing all this is not the dream Dr. King envisioned.
@cynara1122 At first I was going to let you respond, but I decided to end this now! This talking point about abortion and Blacks keeps irking me! Clearly, you failing at some level of intelligence! I don't care what goes on in other people's lives! Abortion is not going away! Fucking idiot! I don't support abortions!
That's a hard choice whether to keep or abort!
Fuck this crap!
You are fucking annoying me with this and for that you'll be sent a long message in the coming moments!
In his book "Dreams From My Father", Obama wrote disdainfully about blacks who complain about being poor, yet continue to vote for Democrats — like Obama — who keep them poor. On page 147 of his book, Obama described what he and his fellow Democrats do to poor blacks as "plantation politics" when he wrote: "A plantation. Black people in the worst jobs. The worst housing. Police brutality rampant.
But when the so-called black committeemen came around election time, we'd all line up and vote the straight Democratic ticket. Sell our soul for a Christmas turkey."
@cynara1122 Who are these black committee that you speak of ? There has never been any black committee men who come around muy neighborhood during election and teel me to vote any particular way.
"A conservative would say Thou shall not kill. This is not of God. This is of hate."
If conservatives don't beleive in killing then are you saying rush, beck, palin and most people like them are not conservative? becuz they believe in killing. Any time they dont like something they talk about killing.
@cynara1122 Let me get this straight, did you actually read the book from Barack Obama? I think you didn't read the book and you're just publishing another lame talking point that will be properly debunked.
I think you're way off the base like most people who comment without backing up evidence! So on page 147, right? Let me go grab my paperback and read it! I'll deal with you after reading this book!
@texas09mcm1 -THERE'S A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IDEOLOGY AND POLITICAL PARTY.
1800'S DEMOCRATS WERE SOUTHERN CONSERVATIVES.
1800'S REPUBLICANS WERE NORTHERN LIBERALS.
Abraham Lincoln was a Liberal Republican that ended slavery and if he were alive today Limbaugh and Beck would calling him a RINO Liberal Republican just like they call Susan Collins and Colin Powell.
THE SOUTH HAS ALWAYS BEEN RUN BY CONSERVATIVES
WHETHER THEY BE DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN CONSERVATIVES.
@texas09mcm1 And noone thinks that blacks cant stand people like you. It is more that most people in the republican party cant stand blacks since most republicans spit out rhetoric that shows there low opinion of the majority of blacks..
@texas09mcm1 Well obviously the founding fathers did not believe in the indidvidual rights of the people they enslaved. And most of things you said really dont mean anything they are not policies they are more slogans an in lots of cases empty words that people like you use. And MLK said the radical right in his quote about Republicans appealing to racism so he did mention conservative since right wing is a form of conservatism. MLK would be considered a left wing radical to republicans today
@texas09mcm1 Right! I think it's mostly you! But hey, there's nothing better than to watch people like you go bat shit crazy when you're wrong and there's nothing more me or @rashadkijani can say other than, goodbye! Have a nice life outside of this computer! I hope this fantasy you continue to promote gets you somewhere! But as of tonight and from now on, it's a dead horse! Go whine on those lovely critics videos! Tell 'em I sent ya!
@LILVOKA "You know something, you watch some of these old black-and-white movies and everybody gets along fine. In the "Birth of the Blues," Anderson, a black man, is a servant to Crosby, and he is as happy as a fish in water. Same thing in the Shirley Temple movies. Blacks are happy as servants. We all get along, until MLK comes along and starts making trouble. Before MLK, everybody loved everybody and everybody was happy in the role, God assigned them in his creation." I had to share that.
@LILVOKA That is the exact post coming from a you tube user in this video I was watching most of the other posts have been similar in my exchanges between them but that one I felt just was the icing on the cake.
watch?v=gP6Z6GLC59w They have been constantly trying to tell me how wrong MLK and the civil rights movement was and they have been very persistent in their effort.
@texas09mcm1 Again you're wrong on so many levels. It's like a parrot squawking the same old talking points that I've grown accustomed to! Less than 15% of the Democratic Party that were Dixiecrats abandoned ship and became Republicans. You continue this theme and still not impressing anyone! No one is "Misleading" anyone here! And this is why Blacks continue to support Democrats! They can't stand people like you! KKK is a far right group. Dixiecrats were conservative! End this now!
@texas09mcm1 That is too true. And how can you racialyy divde conservatives. Consevative is not a race? Coservative in it basic meaning means resistant to change ? And the white slave owners did not want society to change. They liked way things were and didnt see anything wrong with enslaving blacks or any non-whites. They did not want to change the way things were,
A conservative would say Thou shall not kill. This is not of God. This is of hate. You cannot change history. Who wants you successful. Who wants you powerless so that they may maintain their power base. Who serves hate, division? Who do you serve?
@texas09mcm1 You are the ones that keep this meme going that the word democrat automatically means anti black. Then you double down by saying democrats have a long history of racism after admitting that the republicans have that history too.SMH! Then you change the argument from dem/repub to conservative well the opposite of conservative is not democrat it is liberal. So why are you equating the word democrat to liberal. The Dems who opposed civil rights were conservative.
@texas09mcm1 Why are you changing your tone ? You come in here with the attitude that democrats started the KKK now you are admitting that racism isnt just a democrat thing. That there were people who call themselves republican that harbored racial bigotry too. Then whine and say that people shouldnt assume all republicans share the same point of view. Well its you and the ones who keep your rhetoric up that are suggesting that every democrat holds the same point of view.
@texas09mcm1 And here is a you tube video that shows the rift between the majority of the black community and republican party in the 60's. This video even has MLK making the statement of his disapproval of goldwater as a presidential candidate.
@texas09mcm1 Did you read my comment to cozyfoxstudio about what MLK said about republican party? The source is his own autobiography. Specifically chapter 23. And here is somethingelse he said about Senator goldwater and republicans.
" I had no alternative but to urge every Negro and white person of goodwill to vote against Mr. Goldwater and to withdraw support from any Republican candidate that did not publicly disassociate himself from Senator Goldwater and his philosophy." -MLK
@texas09mcm1 Right! Whatever! You now want to continue on! Ok, one more chance to rant off about your "facts!" You're not getting anywhere and it's entertaining for me to keep you going! So keep the name calling and lies going! I appreciate the ongoing responding! @rashadkijani will set you straight!
@texas09mcm1 I'm going tell you what? The more you keep on going the less I'm getting impressed! You can going on and rail against domestic issues all day and still get no where! You completely go into another tangent! At first you state Southern Democrats created the KKK. I hit you back with the correct answer and now you're going into FDR and the New Deal! A policy that helped bring 22% unemployment to less than 5%. FDR participated in WWII and had high approval among Blacks. Give it up, now!
@texas09mcm1 The Ku Klux Klan is a far right organization labeled as a hate group! A group that supports conservatives! A group that has participated in the 2009-present Tea Parties and is influenced by the powers of fear and hate of the Black, Hispanic, GLBT Jewish and Muslim community. Southern Democrats became Republicans after Richard Nixon reached out with the Southern Strategy! A strategy that Ronald Reagan used to win a majority of votes. Founded by segregationist who were conservatives!
This guy is stumbling to read liberal spin. They are not wrong and who are you trying to convince? The remaining 5% of black people who don't vote democrat. King was a republican and the KKK was formed by the Democrats. You tube is loaded with liberal propaganda atleast 2 to 1. You say your cool with black republicans but tell them they are self loathing if they don't vote Marxist. So pathetic.
@cozyfoxstudio This is one of the most insane comments I've read in awhile! Thanks again! Now for your next act, how about you pull facts out your ass instead that empty spot you call a head! Once again, the KKK is a far right fringe group that is non-partisan! YouTube is loaded with insane users who comment about the so-called liberal propaganda! You are an example of white people who running off the mouth and call it keyboard typing! I am tired of people like you! CALL SCLC or check Factcheck!
@LILVOKAYes, the Ku Klux Klan was established by the Democratic Party. Yes, the Ku Klux Klan murdered thousands of Republicans — African-American and white – in the years following the Civil War. Yes, the Republican Party and a Republican President, Ulysses Grant, destroyed the KKK with their Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871.
@cynara1122 Ulysses Grant owned slaves. And if Lincoln were alive today the republicans today would be calling him a negro loving liberal. And do you think Lincoln would support confederate history month like today's republican party?
@cynara1122 The civil war was between the union and the confederacy. You didnt have to be a republican to be in the Union army and you didnt have to be a democrat to be a confederate. I cant believe that people who think as shallow as you exist. Dont you have any intellectual depth? Cant you understand things outside of the democrat/ republican labels? Is everythiing in life to you Dem vs Repub?
@rashadkijani How did the KKK re-emerge in the 20th century? It was a racist Democrat President, Woodrow Wilson, who premiered racist movie Birth of a Nation in the White House. (Based on a book by one of Wilson’s racist college friends. Inspired by the movie, some Georgia Democrats revived the Klan. The KKK again became a powerful force within the Democratic Party. The KKK so dominated the 1924 Democratic Convention that Republicans, speaking truth to power, called it the Klanbake.
@cynara1122 The KKK never re- emerged in this country. It always existed in this country. The KKK is a result not a cause of racism. And so what if you are a libertarian ? What is the point of that statement? And so what if republicans called the democrats Klanbake. Does that mean that is true? Political parties call each other names all the time. Maybe you need to read what MLK called the republican party during his time. I posted it once before but I will post it again.
@cynara1122 "The Republican Party geared its appeal and program to racism, reaction, and extremism. All people of goodwill viewed with alarm and concern the frenzied wedding at the Cow Palace of the KKK with the radical right. The "best man" at this ceremony was a senator whose voting record, philosophy, and program were anathema to all the hard-won achievements of the past decade" -MLK opinion of 1964 republican convention
@cynara1122 I guess one comment slip through the mountain of nonsense you managed to pull out your well, I already stated that! Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower and Lyndon B. Johnson ended the segregation. See I love how conservatives love to rewrite history off the backs of King and President Barack Obama, it's assures me that more Hispanics, Blacks and non-White voters flock to the Democratic Party in masses because of people like you!
@cozyfoxstudio If MLK was republican why did he say this about their party?
"The Republican Party geared its appeal and program to racism, reaction, and extremism.
@cozyfoxstudio You might actually want to pick up a book by MLK like his autobiography or "I Have a Dream" they have alot of his views and opinions. In them he mentions a White supremacist organization that oppossed him and the civil rights movement. They were called the White Citizens Council they still exist and changed their name to The Council of Conservative Citizens. And they support the republican party. Just ask people like Trent Lott or Mississippi governor Haley Barbour.
@BobbyFuckingSteele Cause you probably are! Think you moron, what's with the name calling? You only invite yourself to getting one served to you! Idiot!
@scrapdaddy811 Yeah, whatever! You stupid motherfucker, no one is brainwashed but you! I think you're still in spin cycle! Fuck these ridiculous comments. King would not be a Republican nor a conservative activist! His family wouldn't support a party of jackass nor a party of elephants who parade under this guise of bigotry marked as patriotism! Shut your pie hole you doofus!
@kibble2300 Another extreme comment! Here's something for you! I don't work in the cotton fields! Shut the fuck up you mentally ignorant conservative jackass! Suck it easy!
@TubaHero91 How the hell I missed this extreme comment! Well buddy, I got news for you! The more Blacks join the Democratic Party the more Whites abandon ship and head into the Republican Party. [GOP] capitalize on the fear of Black President Barack Obama. GOP capitalize on Hispanic rapes, immigrants and "Securing Borders" crap! GOP capitalize on keeping the GLBT in the closet, and Muslims profiled at airports. So you tell me who wants slavery? GOP, the party that stuck in the past! Like you!
What I think is interesting is that you are intolerant of other views than yours. It's racist to say that we have to believe as you believe or we are self-hating. Talk about discrimination! You would have fallen in line easily with racist throughout history. "Agree with me, or shut up," is just what MLK died for. MLK was Republican. That is a fact. But what really creeps me out is your racism and intolerance to other views. Open your mind.
@peacefulvines Oh god! Please stop while your ahead! Cause there's no record of King ever voting for a candidate! And to make this clear for you and many others who go around parading this nonsense! You have no evidence! King was supportive of Democratic Presidents Kennedy and Johnson! Civil Rights law, Health Care Reform, helps bring Whites to Republicans cause bigots hate Blacks joining the Democrats so they became Republicans. God damn "Southern Strategy" working hard on the keyboards, eh?
Just because someone is registered with one party doesn't mean they can't support someone of another party. I am an independent and I havew voted for democrats and republicans.
With all due respect, you may disagree with the facts...that's your right...but sadly YOU are wrong in nearly all of the premises you make here. Frankly, Dr. Alveda King and NBRA Chairman Frances Rice have more credibility when it comes to these issues than you do. It's okay to be angry about what they say...but some objective, independent research will determine the clear truth. I believed many of the same things you do...but had my own eyes opened when I dug beneath the surface for the facts.
@BlackAmericaUSA Oh so I guess Dexter, Martin III and Bernice King aren't relevant? I guess Martin Sr didn't speak at the 1980 Democratic Convention? I guess Coretta Scott King didn't endorse Bill Clinton?
With all due respect, you have no evidence! You failed to contact SCLC? You can't make a call to Congressman John Lewis (D- Georgia), Ralph David Abernathy or his living family members (except Alveda).
It ends now! There's no need to debate you! It's a waste of my time!
@tubeyou44542 Yeah a group started the NAACP. Since 1970 Republicans own the White vote! They don't need Black voters! They can whip up people like you to make the case for Blacks to not join the Republican party! I don't see what's the difference between the late 19th and early 20th Republican comparison towards the present day mostly white conservative party of today! Quit bullshitting with me and keep it focus on why Blacks detest you ridiculous insane conservatives!
@LILVOKA you keep defending those people that will bring us all into slavery! you need to check you facts! Both parties are corrupt ,but the dems have been taken over by marxist/ progressives, your bud obama said himself he sought out marxist professors.look around our country has been ran by both parties and we lose more of our rights by the day!! good luck!
@MrHr1207 Ok, you're making an extreme comment without backing it up with evidence. Did it ever occur to you that Blacks detest conservatives for some reason. If you compare the 19th Century and Early 20th Century Republicans to modern day Republicans, you have a big huge difference! Since Berry Goldwater, the Republicans abandoned ship on Blacks, Hispanics, Asian American and Women. Quit bullshitting with this crap! Since 1970, Republicans play "Southern Strategy" to court White voters!
Martin Luther King Jr. was a card carrying registered republican his whole adult life.
I think his family and approved biographers would know more than you or your favorite race bating hate-opportunists polluting the democrat party right now, like Al Sharpton.
@pimpdalyrical Where's your evidence? I can rest assure you have no evidence to your claim! For the record it's the Democratic Party! You best believe that Martin Luther King III would love to school you on where his father stands. Stop the nonsense! Bring your evidence and maybe someone could take your argument seriously!
@LILVOKA At a time when King was fighting against the KKK and Jim Crow, why would he be member of the political party the KKK voted for? KKK hated jews, blacks, homosexuals, and republicans, and strung up white republican politicians with the same noose as anyone else. And don't say the black vote doesn't matter because it's small, only about 50% of eligible voters actually vote and over 50% of blacks vote, so about 25Million. 25mil out of 157mil, sounds like a chunk worth winning.
@JoshPahr Could you list where you get your numbers from? 50%of blacks vote doesnt mena 50% of all votes catsed. Blacks only make up 10% of the population roughly 37mil. And already half of them cant vote becuz of age which means about roughly 18mil elgible to vote so 50% of that only come to like 9 mil . So where does the 25 mil come from?
@rashadkijani I'm sorry! I had to block JoshPahr! He was being too much of an asshole! But I can fill-in the usual talking points he'll probably deliver!
Blah, blah, blah, The Democratic Party was the party that started the KKK. King was a Republican. Robert Byrd was a KKK member! King would never vote for Obama. Why are you calling Blacks who support GOP, "UNCLE TOMS!" That's ok, I'll complain to user xpandergt about how horrible you are! He's a Black man who knows how Obama's evil and such!
If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and seek my face, and pray, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land, 2 Chronicles 7:14. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. This is who Dr. King was. A preacher of the Gospel who took on the mantle for Justice under God.
@FrankD71864 Ok, you realize that religion is an endangered species in America? Oh, wow. Wonder what goes on in that noggin of yours? Too much hypersensitive repetitive nonsense. I said back it up with evidence. You can't do it! Now you want to rant off with a sermon to justify your incompetence. Good grief. You will be the last comment of the debate. From this point, until I feel like it. All comments are now going to Conservatives/Libertarians Are Too Dumb, Too Stupid or Just Racist video.
@FrankD71864 Who do you think the turn from your wicked ways applies to in that verse? And if King was just a preacher to you why should any 1 respect him any more than any other preacher today? Why should I think MLK was a great person just cuz he recited scriptures and when did he recite the scripture you just typed? If I recite scriptures will you vote to give me a national holiday as well?
The very voter rights act you give credit to Lyndon B. Johnson for signing would have been signed under the President Eisenhower if then Senator Lyndon B. Johnson had not blocked them in 1959. The Civil_Rights_Act_of_1964. Should have been the Civil_Rights_Act_of_1959.
@FrankD71864 Where's your proof? If you don't have proof. Don't waste my time, ok? I guess this thing is going viral cause I am assuming that every buttrotten conservative will spill their vile down my page and then I will have to shut it down temporary for the very reason for why I do these videos. It's assholes like you that make me do videos. To expose the stupidity of a society of morons. Conservative, liberal or libertarian, doesn't matter any more!! It's either smart or stupid in my book.
@LILVOKA I want to give you props for standing your ground. It is so sad the republican blacks who accuse us other blacks of not knowing civil rights history, are really the ones who dont know their civil rightshistory. King was not a republican he was one of the first to call the republican party out on what we call today the "Southern Strategy".
@LILVOKA Here is an actuall verbatim quote of MLK's opinion of the 1964 republican national convention "The Republican Party geared its appeal and program to racism, reaction, and extremism. All people of good will viewed with alarm and concern the frenzied wedding...of the KKK with the radical right"
@masterod1 Nevermind, it's just another dumb conservative who wants to grandstand their 500 characters on my comments page! Whew, for a minute I actually though there was an intelligent person commenting. Unfortunately, you sir are the reasons why America is totally stupid! C'mon idiot, respond so I can actually destroy you in less than 200 characters. I am begging you to respond! Your feelings will get hurt! I guess then you'll blame me for failures as a human being, next?
@LILVOKA Also ask these people if MLK was a republican then why is one of his best friends, and one of the "Big Six" co-founding fathers of the civil rights movement John Lewis a democratic congressman instead of a republican congressman. The teabaggers had no problem spitting on lewis and calling him a liar. Im sure if MLK was alive today they would have no problem treating MLK the same way.
you have been fooled by the White media (NBC). No matter Republican or Dem
King had conservative views not progressive witch is Obama's view's are progressive. If you compare Kings speeches to Obama's it is night and day.
I had hope Obama would change war contracts and profiting but he did not keep his promise and aproved new KBR contracts but you wont hear that in the media
Obama lied and kept bad Bush policies in place. King also knew there is only 50 states not 59 like Obama
@LILVOKA If your talking about the last line look it up your self on you tube there tones of vids with him saying that but yet you wont find a vid of Palin saying she thought Africa was a nation but im sure you believe she said it because the Media said it. . I do know about KBR in Iraq because I was there in 09 and saw it with my own eyes. Watch Iraq for sale and the Obama deception. These things were hard for me to accept because I voted for bush and KBR was created under him. I have proof.
@mysliwya I am not concerned with Sarah Palin's "Don't Retreat, Reload!!" comments. She will have to answer to the many followers who support that nonsense. She's not even a full serving governor and you rush to defend her like I said something that targeted her! I never said anything negative other than John McCain and Sarah Palin met Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro. So all you can do is bitch and whine about the "MEDIA". Who cares! Turn off the fucking television if you don't like it!
you have been fooled by the White media (NBC). No matter Republicain or Dem

@mysliwya You have no proof to back that claim up! I wouldn't take these comments seriously! But here's a factoid you seem to miss! DO YOU SEE ANY TELEVISION ON WHEN I DO A COMMENTARY? NOPE! But if you want to get an ulcer about who owns King, that's you! But again, you haven't called the SCLC or even understand the man's visions were for poverty, anti-war, voting rights and civil rights for all Americans. Unfortunately, you relish in the "us against them crap!" Who cares Pres. Obama's flubs!
Are you aware Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican? You really should read the Wikipedia article on: "African-American_Civil_Rights_Movement_(1955–1968)"
-
During this period, the white-dominated Democratic Party regained political control over the South. The Republican Party the "party of Lincoln" which had been the party that most blacks belonged to, shrank to insignificance as black voter registration was suppressed. By the early 1900s, almost all elected officials in the South were Dems
@h82sk8 Here's what you should do! Tone it down just a little! You are working yourself an ulcer! Do all the ranting and raving until your head explodes. But guess what, BLACKS still vote for the Democratic Party. No different than the Jewish voter who's about 90% vote goes to the Democratic Party. No different than the Hispanic vote which is about 80% going to the Democratic Party. You see here, sir! No one cares about your made-up rhetoric. You lose period. I repeat, you lose the debate!
@LILVOKA Wow, Someone needs a little less crack. I have not even started debating anything? So what do you mean I lose? Everything I said was factual, read the damn article first, then maybe we can "debate"? Where did you get your numbers from? Being a democrat has nothing to do with being a hippie or minority? You are only playing the MSM's game called: "Race Baiting". Can't you see they are trying to start a race war! Stop playing the victim, and the fool.
@h82sk8 This shows how juvenile you are! A little less crack! Sure, whatever! See this is why I determined that you're insufficiently lacking intelligence! You make a blanket statement, and failed to prove a point! It's almost funny you can throw around the race-card! This is why you're a failure as a human being! You cry like a little girl when I hit back with comments that defeat your argument! You toss around racial stereotypes of Blacks and you think I am upset! Nope! But you are! Crybaby!
@h82sk8 "When the corporation becomes enthroned, an era of corruption in high places will follow. And the money power will endeavor to prolong its reign by working on the prejudices of the people until wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the republic is destroyed." - Abraham Lincoln
Lincoln may have been Republican, but he was a far cry from the dopes inhabiting today's GOP. This quote correctly places into context today's situation w/Fox News & the dopes protesting the Islamic Center.
@KRISTINEFORDify Tyler, how's those videos coming along? No one's watching! So I guess the joke's on you! If I want to see a clown, I'll go to a circus! You sir are a clown, and that's the joke here. You feel insulted? Good! You expect that when your stupid ass leaves extreme comments! For the record, it's "You;re a joke!" Get a thesaurus, Tyler!
Being a black Republican makes you self-loathing? Really? I guess doing Youtube videos while wearing a Rocawear shirt makes you self-respecting then, right? This is why black people are in the shape they're in in this country. Wake the hell up! If not for a REPUBLICAN, slavery would've continued for decades longer. Because we don't know history, we suffer in the present. The Democrats are NOT helping us. Decades of voting Democratic, and we still have the same problems we've had for decades.
@TJ347 Freedom of expression. Or just another nit picking from an idiot! I can't tell whether you're serious or just another excrement sandwich with mustard! Oh by the way, you need to wake up! You can't change anyone's mind with this type of rhetoric! All you're doing is inviting yourself to an insult from someone who's not going to put up with this juvenile nonsense. Talk like a human and maybe I might take you seriously!
@LILVOKA But I'm sure YOU can change peoples minds with a half-ass Youtube video in which you make statements refuted by documentation showing MLK was a Republican, right? You're no doubt one of those clowns who thinks Lincoln was a Democrat, and that black people have always been Democrats, yet I'm supposed to be the idiot... Get a clue, and if you need it, I'll chip in to buy you one.
@TJ347 Ah, no! It gets real frustrating with people like you! Americans are so fucking stupid it's almost likely that even though Martin III, Bernice and Dexter are the actual surviving children of King, you still go on with this stupid woman her stupid claims. You have no proof other than some outcast member of the SCLC. Prove me wrong by getting the facts from the local chapter of the SCLC. Stop grandstanding me the stupid comments. Thank you!
Lil Voka you are such a piece of crap lying little punk Shut the hell up anybody with have a brain knows you are full of crap! Thats why you disabled your ratings and you spam comments that show you for a liar! Mr. kings niece has a video on you tube saying MLK is a republican but Iam sure you know more than her! And its a shame you dont know the truth about one of the greatest men to ever live! Instead you degrade his honor by associating him with the people that tried to keep you enslaved!
When the Civile Rights Act came before the full Senate for debate on March 30, 1964, the 'Southern Bloc' of 18 southern Democratic Senators and one Republican Senator led by Richard Russell (D-GA) launched a filibuster to prevent its passage. Said Russell: "We will resist to the bitter end any measure or any movement which would have a tendency to bring about social equality and intermingling and amalgamation of the races in our (Southern) states."
@Berch19 Correct. So of that 1/5 of the Democratic Party which is 20%. What happened after the bill was passed by the bipartisan Senate. When the bill was passed and hand delivered to Lyndon B Johnson's desk where he signed what happened? Progress didn't happen over night! Those who were conservative Southern Democrats eventually became Republicans when Richard M. Nixon got in and Roger Ailes and Lee Atwater were steering his landslides.
@97cohail You can take those comments and practice them on yourself! You certainly are trying my patience with this "lifting comments" to justify your claims. Again, when you can provide evidence from a reliable source: Like Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Rev. Joseph K Lowery and the remaining surviving sons and daughter of Dr. King! Got it, chump!
@11derik Wow, do you have evidence to back up your claim! Nope I think not! Based on your comments, I determined that you are lacking insufficiently the knowledge to at least debate someone who's been well experience in dealing with critics! You sir, lost the moment you throw out your comment! See dealing with people requires a brain! You sir, have an ass for a brain!
What "wild" claims am I making? - that the democratic party is the historical party of the KKK? Its the party of Slavery and Segregation? Please read over my posts a little more carefully - these are accepted historical facts. It was the Democrats that created so much strife for the blacks in the South and now they have a new plantation called Liberalism.
@ LILVOKA in the 26 major civil rights votes after 1933, a majority of Democrats opposed civil rights legislation in over 80 percent of the votes. By contrast, the Republican majority favored civil rights in over 96 percent of the votes.
@Berch19 What evidence do you have to prove that point? Seems like you can't get pass the fact that the [71-29] bipartisanship of Democrats and Republicans lead a bill to Lyndon B Johnson's desk! Also you failed to mention that the Democratic Party had control of Congress nearly 50 years ago! And to make this clear, Emmanuel Cleaver is a White Jewish Democrat from New York who sponsored the bill. And you need to get a "clue" ! The "less" information equals the lack of intelligence you got!
@LILVOKA Hmm. An ad hominem attack; well that shows intelligence. Hear are the numbers on the vote for the Civil Rights Act. Totals are in "Yea-Nay" format and by party. The original House version Democratic Party: 152-96 (61%–39%) Republican Party: 138-34 (80%–20%) Cloture in the Senate Democratic Party: 44-23 (66%–34%) Republican Party: 27-6 (82%–18%)
@Berch19 The Senate version: Democratic Party: 46-21 (69%–31%) Republican Party: 27-6 (82%–18%) The Senate version, voted on by the House Democratic Party: 153-91 (63%–37%) Republican Party: 136-35 (80%–20%)

The following post after this one will be the actual words of Martin Luther King Jr., showing that both parties shared guilt in the continued oppression of blacks. That each party contained a wing that opposed all measures in favor of racial equality. I wanted to fit the whole statement on one post. It is an exact quote.

The Republicans have betrayed him by capitulating to the blatant hypocrisy of reactionary right wing northern Republicans. Also I couldn't care less about what institutions claim about his allegances they obviously have an incentive to lie, just saying other parts of his family claim otherwise is good enough for me, they are far closer to the source. *deleted last reply for typos*

@ LILVOKA.. and old saying goes like this..."give a man a loaf of bread you feed him for a day, but if you teach a man to make his own, you feed him for life.
I don't know what party Mr King was in, but I don't think he'd support a lot of the Marxist BS on the left. Sure society should have some safety nets for it's people. However people of all races are being punished when they try to improve upon their lives via over regulation and taxation.
coldsteel122 9 months ago

All the money for education is going to greedy teachers unions...and the children are left in the cold...and now there is few jobs or the knowledge to climb out of the mess.
coldsteel122 9 months ago
@coldsteel122 Look here, no political party hurt Detroit. The Automotive industry smothered the city with manufacturing. Detroit was once a booming city. But due to the White flight and American jobs being shipped overseas for lower pay, factories close, business follow. Don't play that game! Republicans and Democrats are just major political parties. You people on the right really annoy me to hell with this "Oh it's one party's fault!" If you knew better, GOP have mastered the spin than Dems.

Although clearly we have different ways of looking at things...we do need both the left and right wing to keep the other side honest. You seem smart so I'd be interested in hearing what you have to say.....anyway...have a nice day.
coldsteel122 9 months ago
I would say tht, looking at the election results of 1964 (LBJ's election) 61% of the people voted for him, as opposed to 38% who voted for Goldwater. Assuming, a 50/50 Repub/Dem split at the time, we can infer that ~20% of the republicans of the time crossed party lines and voted LBJ for president, due to the Civil Rights Issue.
So it is POSSIBLE that MLK was generally republican, but just voted Democrat on this crucial issue.
Also, stop labeling all conservative Blacks as "self-loathing", plz
MrProgrampro 1 year ago
@MrProgrampro First thing: PolitiFact labels Martin Luther King Jr. being a Republican is false. Second, my opinion!
Third: Blacks became a strong supporter of the Democratic Party in the days of Roosevelt and World War II where social security and integrated military proved to be beneficial. Despite conservative Democrats (DIXIECRATS) like the late Republican Stromm Thrummond, the Democrats ousted them and they became GOP anchors. Lyndon B Johnson was the Democrat who passed Civil Rights Act.
LILVOKA 1 year ago 2
@LILVOKA Valid points. I see what you're saying.
MrProgrampro 1 year ago
@MrProgrampro Absolutely false. The "moral" issues the GOP claims blasphemously aren't moral, or Christian, at all. There is NOTHING Christian about bigotry, about homophobia, about sexism. The opposition to honest sex education on "moral" grounds is destroying lives. Their anti-choice radicalism prevents access to full health care for women. Social justice is directly OPPOSED to the "moral" stances of the right. King's problems with the Democrats would be that they're too centrist.
PrisonerNumber9653 10 months ago
@MrProgrampro And it's incredibly easy to refute his niece's bunk, she's lied so much about what Martin believed it's become a sad pathetic joke. She has nothing at all to do with what King truly believed. There is NOTHING in today's GOP that King ever supported. Nothing at all.
PrisonerNumber9653 10 months ago
@PrisonerNumber9653
He was pro-choice, then? That's the major issue I can see him being Republican on.
For everything else yeah, I guess you have a point. Tho if you'd list specific policies that'd be more helpful.
MrProgrampro 10 months ago

I watched the video on her.
puttputtking 3 months ago
@puttputtking Here's three things you need to know about why Blacks detest Republicans.
1. Presidential Elections bring out the cesspool of white and black conservatives using terms like plantation when confronting Blacks who vote Democrats.
2. Jesse Jackson, Martin L. King III, and Bernice King can tell you straight up, that King would never support any Republican let alone the modern party.
3. The blatant disrespect of the GOP with laws trying to suppress minority votes.
LILVOKA 3 months ago
@LILVOKA 1. Really? Well what about the blacks that support Republicans. Here's reason why a lot of blacks are detesting the democrats now.
1. Herman Cain, Colin Powell, Alveda King, Frances Rice, Condi Rice.
2. If that is so, then why would Alveda tell us that?
3. There is more disrespect and racistness from you in the Democrat Party. That is a fact.
By the way, did I ever see he was? No! I just said Alveda is saying he was. Typical liberal, twisting facts around.

JFK, LBJ, Truman all ended segregationist policies and enacted civil rights. the south now is almost pure red in every presidential election since the 1960s.
JESUSSWOOPE 1 year ago
@texas09mcm1 And noone thinks that blacks cant stand people like you. It is more that most people in the republican party cant stand blacks since most republicans spit out rhetoric that shows there low opinion of the majority of blacks..
rashadkijani 1 year ago
@texas09mcm1 Well obviously the founding fathers did not believe in the indidvidual rights of the people they enslaved. And most of things you said really dont mean anything they are not policies they are more slogans an in lots of cases empty words that people like you use. And MLK said the radical right in his quote about Republicans appealing to racism so he did mention conservative since right wing is a form of conservatism. MLK would be considered a left wing radical to republicans today
rashadkijani 1 year ago

@LILVOKA That is the exact post coming from a you tube user in this video I was watching most of the other posts have been similar in my exchanges between them but that one I felt just was the icing on the cake.
watch?v=gP6Z6GLC59w They have been constantly trying to tell me how wrong MLK and the civil rights movement was and they have been very persistent in their effort.
rashadkijani 1 year ago
@texas09mcm1 Again you're wrong on so many levels. It's like a parrot squawking the same old talking points that I've grown accustomed to! Less than 15% of the Democratic Party that were Dixiecrats abandoned ship and became Republicans. You continue this theme and still not impressing anyone! No one is "Misleading" anyone here! And this is why Blacks continue to support Democrats! They can't stand people like you! KKK is a far right group. Dixiecrats were conservative! End this now!
LILVOKA 1 year ago
@texas09mcm1 That is too true. And how can you racialyy divde conservatives. Consevative is not a race? Coservative in it basic meaning means resistant to change ? And the white slave owners did not want society to change. They liked way things were and didnt see anything wrong with enslaving blacks or any non-whites. They did not want to change the way things were,
rashadkijani 1 year ago
@texas09mcm1 So instead of saying democrats started the KKK why dont you say conservatives started the KKK?
rashadkijani 1 year ago
A conservative would say Thou shall not kill. This is not of God. This is of hate. You cannot change history. Who wants you successful. Who wants you powerless so that they may maintain their power base. Who serves hate, division? Who do you serve?
cynara1122 1 year ago
@texas09mcm1 You are the ones that keep this meme going that the word democrat automatically means anti black. Then you double down by saying democrats have a long history of racism after admitting that the republicans have that history too.SMH! Then you change the argument from dem/repub to conservative well the opposite of conservative is not democrat it is liberal. So why are you equating the word democrat to liberal. The Dems who opposed civil rights were conservative.
rashadkijani 1 year ago
@texas09mcm1 Why are you changing your tone ? You come in here with the attitude that democrats started the KKK now you are admitting that racism isnt just a democrat thing. That there were people who call themselves republican that harbored racial bigotry too. Then whine and say that people shouldnt assume all republicans share the same point of view. Well its you and the ones who keep your rhetoric up that are suggesting that every democrat holds the same point of view.
rashadkijani 1 year ago
@texas09mcm1 And here is a you tube video that shows the rift between the majority of the black community and republican party in the 60's. This video even has MLK making the statement of his disapproval of goldwater as a presidential candidate.

" I had no alternative but to urge every Negro and white person of goodwill to vote against Mr. Goldwater and to withdraw support from any Republican candidate that did not publicly disassociate himself from Senator Goldwater and his philosophy." -MLK

@LILVOKAYes, the Ku Klux Klan was established by the Democratic Party. Yes, the Ku Klux Klan murdered thousands of Republicans — African-American and white – in the years following the Civil War. Yes, the Republican Party and a Republican President, Ulysses Grant, destroyed the KKK with their Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871.
cynara1122 1 year ago
@cynara1122 Ulysses Grant owned slaves. And if Lincoln were alive today the republicans today would be calling him a negro loving liberal. And do you think Lincoln would support confederate history month like today's republican party?
rashadkijani 1 year ago
@cynara1122 The civil war was between the union and the confederacy. You didnt have to be a republican to be in the Union army and you didnt have to be a democrat to be a confederate. I cant believe that people who think as shallow as you exist. Dont you have any intellectual depth? Cant you understand things outside of the democrat/ republican labels? Is everythiing in life to you Dem vs Repub?
rashadkijani 1 year ago
@rashadkijani How did the KKK re-emerge in the 20th century? It was a racist Democrat President, Woodrow Wilson, who premiered racist movie Birth of a Nation in the White House. (Based on a book by one of Wilson’s racist college friends. Inspired by the movie, some Georgia Democrats revived the Klan. The KKK again became a powerful force within the Democratic Party. The KKK so dominated the 1924 Democratic Convention that Republicans, speaking truth to power, called it the Klanbake.
cynara1122 1 year ago
@cynara1122 The KKK never re- emerged in this country. It always existed in this country. The KKK is a result not a cause of racism. And so what if you are a libertarian ? What is the point of that statement? And so what if republicans called the democrats Klanbake. Does that mean that is true? Political parties call each other names all the time. Maybe you need to read what MLK called the republican party during his time. I posted it once before but I will post it again.

@cozyfoxstudio You might actually want to pick up a book by MLK like his autobiography or "I Have a Dream" they have alot of his views and opinions.

Are you aware Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican? You really should read the Wikipedia article on: "African-American_Civil_Rights_Movement_(1955–1968)"

During this period, the white-dominated Democratic Party regained political control over the South. The Republican Party the "party of Lincoln" which had been the party that most blacks belonged to, shrank to insignificance as black voter registration was suppressed. By the early 1900s, almost all elected officials in the South were Dems

You have no proof other than some outcast member of the SCLC. Prove me wrong by getting the facts from the local chapter of the SCLC. Stop grandstanding me the stupid comments. Thank you!

Martin Luther King Jr was a socialist.

Berch19 1 year ago

Wow, this guy is CLUELESS.

It's over! You didn't provide any evidence of your claims. You're out!

@ LILVOKA in the 26 major civil rights votes after 1933, a majority of Democrats opposed civil rights legislation in over 80 percent of the votes. By contrast, the Republican majority favored civil rights in over 96 percent of the votes.

You are clueless!! Sure LBJ was the Prez. at the time, but it was the Democatic Party that was fighting to block Civil Rights Legislation.
Berch19 1 year ago
@Berch19 What evidence do you have to prove that point? Seems like you can't get pass the fact that the [71-29] bipartisanship of Democrats and Republicans lead a bill to Lyndon B Johnson's desk! Also you failed to mention that the Democratic Party had control of Congress nearly 50 years ago! And to make this clear, Emmanuel Cleaver is a White Jewish Democrat from New York who sponsored the bill. And you need to get a "clue" ! The "less" information equals the lack of intelligence you got!
LILVOKA 1 year ago
@LILVOKA Hmm. An ad hominem attack; well that shows intelligence. Hear are the numbers on the vote for the Civil Rights Act. Totals are in "Yea-Nay" format and by party. The original House version Democratic Party: 152-96 (61%–39%) Republican Party: 138-34 (80%–20%) Cloture in the Senate Democratic Party: 44-23 (66%–34%) Republican Party: 27-6 (82%–18%)
