The manual does 0-60 1.8 seconds faster, which is a huge difference, so I'd think you'd be better off with the manual, if you want as much from the engine as possible.

@norra124 You can slap on an ECU programming for less than $500 and you'll get the power delivery for the auto and the manual to essentially the same 0-60 timing. This car and the V70r can be modded too.

@kamalsutra Yeah in Sweden, or maybe even in the US, there's a company named BSR, who for about 2000 bucks will tune the engine and give it 50 more horses + a new exhaust system. But I've never heard of the ECU programming that makes the automatic version go from 0-60 as fast as the manual originally. Do u have to tune it? Then u can as well buy a manual and tune it, and it'll still do 0-60 a lot faster, maybe in under 5 seconds.

Ok, heres a tip when presenting cars online. Loose the baseballcap and Birkenstocks, tuck the shirt in and get rid of the faggy music in the beginning. In addition, let the presenter wear a small mike to catch his voice better.

that wasnt stupid at all, i have a ctually noticed how 5 cyl engines and 10cyl engine sound amazing they all have that growl, m5, viper, carrera gt, and as far as 5 cyl's jettat, volvo they have the same growl. and they sound pretty cool!!!

i own a volvo 850 GLT...i love it. its my first car, and even when i drive my dads vw passat, or moms accord, i think mine handles soo much better. probably should since it was much more , when it was brand new. wish i could trade it for that :/

hard to find this car, especially one in good condition, test drove one with 6-speed but it was beat up. you can definitely feel the difference between comfort and advanced but even in comfort its too stiff in Chicago lately. car had multiple bubbles on all tires.

you guys have a very nice place, and cars are very good quality, i was looking at G35x few month back here, but found 03 Maxima with 6-speed with HLSD with 40K miles, bought it first day it was listed.

I have a D5 SE at the moment but having had a Saab 900 Turbo (manual gearbox - no traction control) before then, I miss the overtaking acceleration and sheer fun factor that petrol turbos give you. Mind you, the Saab was only 263Nm or torque - I am dreaming of 400Nm in my next car ;-)

The comment about this car sounding like half a Gallardo was not silly at all. In fact it sounds very much like two halves of Gallardo. Or a Dodge Viper. Because Inline 5 engines do sound very similar to V10s. Similarly - inline 6 engine will sound very similar to V12.

@alexmeckel That's a good question I don't have a clear answer for. I think it has to do with how pistons move inside the block and firing order. Flat plane V8 sound a bit more similar to inline 4s than cross plane v8s. But similarity doesn't seem so clear as it is with R5 - V10 and R6 - V12 engines. 3 cylinder engine will sound similar to V12 or R6 as well.

Summit, just curious - but what were the problems of 2004 models that were discovered after the cars were new?

I'm a Volvo enthusiast but I usually hear conflicting stories about '04 S60s and V70s. A friend of mine has an '04 S60 2.4 but says his other Volvo, a '92 240, is more reliable.

will be like most models, the later the year of the model, the better.. as they progress through all the problems encountered. papps got a v70r-04, have switched sensors for the 4C-system countless times, fuel-presure regulator got fixed aswell, after the engine just died, the rear axle is somewhat loose when you overload the car (somewhat wiggles when you drive), now when they have been fixed (5000$+ afterwards) it works fine :), oh ye the AWD section transmission broke (mechanic failure)

Great car, and very entertaining and good review as always.

Friend of mine had a '07 S60 R Wagon in the light blue color with the orange/cream-color seats. The seats could literally hug you to death, they're so comfortable.
