  • That looked like a chineese cluster fuck.

  • We're sorry for the misleading title of the clip. It is an excerpt from a film we made for Discovery Channel called "Sinking an Aircraft Carrier". This documents the action when the Oriskany broke away from the tug that was towing it from Corpus Christi. We'll post some clips some actual sinking clips soon, but in the meantime you might want to check out some shots on our Channel of the Hoyt S. Vandenberg as she went down. Thanks!

  • Gosh....theres millions in scrap metal in that carrier. Why on earth dont they contract out scrapping it.When orin gets to $200 a ton its so worth going after any scrap metal If a guy even just had a small1000 ton barge with a boom capable of reaching just 100 ft. in the air and a couple of plasma cutters 3 guys could get rich if they could just get the salvage rights to a vessel that size.... and i mean rich man.

  • I would have offered them $50 and lived in it !

  • She did not want to go .. tried to get away from them. Hate to see that (even though I was on a destroyer)

  • why would they want to sink it? I really don´t get it, they are destroying their own work!

  • WAST OF TIME AND LIFE

  • it was actually scraped to make an artificial reef for the fish and to help rebuild part of the oceans coral reef

  • shows you how waste full we can really be all that steel could have been used to make buildings cars mining equipment heaps of shit!

  • It's costly to scrap that kind of ship, because of asbestos... (there is lots of asbestos used in building warships) so they just sink those shisp... greedy bastards...

  • they couldve sold it to me... -_-

  • WHAT A SINKIng !! fuck you fucking waste time -_-

  • sink the unsinkable??? we already did that with an iceberg

  • recycle people!

  • She is a reef now.

  • Ahahahahaha... Oh for fuck sake... trying to tow it with a piece of nylon cord... bound to fail!

  • Good to see she fought them as best she could to the end.

  • the navy could sell the old ships to other countrys and make money

    in stead of sinking them

  • What a waste! they couldve restored it

  • @64MojoMan They would't of because it would cost to much it costs even more to restore it then build a new one.

  • @64MojoMan cost to much money to keep the ship restored. Sinking it is not a bad thing however. It basically becomes an artificial reef for marine animals.

  • @64MojoMan its impossible to restore it it was in pretty bad shape to restore but they did recycle some parts

  • @64MojoMan yes but now its a giant reef...

  • looks like they need...

    a bigger boat
