@NWCJ4CJ They can be purchased at our eBay store, or online at Amazon.com for individual volunteer fire/rescue usage. Proper training is required for certain applications.
This is ONE FREAKIN AWESOME TOOL. It's quiet, You can talk to Your patient in low voice while You do Your job, and this jack really helps You DO YOUR JOB. I love it.
At 1:47 surely those safety wedges are being put in upside down. On the top as is shown, the surface is on an angle allowing something to slide down, whereas the bottom surface has an increasing in height series of flat surfaces which are parallel to the ground or in other words perpendicular to the force of gravity.
Hey Franklast what are you going to do if your "jaws of life" fails to start or a hose burst? Every think of having a back up or working multiple vehicles and only having one set of Jaws? Your text book outlook on this job will come back to haunt you one days. This tool fits the bill as a primary or back up.
Is the base compatible with the standard 48" hilift jack? Are the capacities the same or higher than the standard 48" jack? I currently have the 48" version, but if I could upgrade/replace the base to have more options (if needed), that'd be great!
Thanks for commenting franklast. The intent of the First Responder is not to replace the Hurst Jaws of Life, but to complement it. Also, to offer a lower cost extrication and rescue tool option for all rescue vehicles, allowing for a quicker response during that golden hour.
